Water is often perceived as synonymous with money to the Chinese. And indeed, there have been many noted instances where water, used correctly in feng shui practice, has lifted the merely rich to the status of seriously wealthy. The common examples you may hear about may involve a waterfall, a yang water feature, or water motifs on the walls and décor of the premises.

But it must be remembered that water is also an element with the ability to pose the greatest danger. The water trigram Kan indeed spells danger first. Translated in many texts as the Abysmal, it generally symbolizes misfortune (middle yang line) trapped in matter (two yin lines). The trigram Kan is also symbolic of the soul. The soul, like the river, has to flow from the source in the mountain down to the sea, where it dies, is transformed into clouds and reincarnated again as rain in the mountains. The motivation is danger and the abyss.

So how do you correctly activate the immense potency of water to bring wealth, but at the same time avoid the taboos? We’ve summarized here 8 easy ways.

1. IDENTIFY & ACTIVATE YOUR WATER STAR 8

To identify your water star 8, you need to plot the natal chart of your home or office. This method of feng shui is known as flying star, and to derive the correct natal chart, you need very accurate facing direction of your house/building. This article is too short. to give you an in depth lesson on flying star, but you can read Lillian Too’s Flying Star Feng Shui, approach any World of Feng Shui sales staff who can help you identify the correct sector or learn flying star yourself at Lillian Too’s Flying Star Feng Shui Online Course.

Once you find the best water sector, place in it a yang water bowls. The best kinds are the rolling ball water features, which represent not just money, but also high sales and turnover. Always make sure the water is yang water, i.e. moving water, so go for a rolling ball feature, fountain, fish tank, water fall… but always something with a pump. If after 2 weeks you don’t see results, you may have calculated your natal chart incorrectly, whereby you should review your chart and try again.

Do not worry – feng shui is scientific. If you don’t seem to get results, the implementation may have been off by a few degrees. Just try again, because when it starts to work, you’ll be glad you took the trouble.

2. KEEP AN AROWANA IN YOUR WEALTH CORNER

The arowana is one of the most potent activators of wealth and success luck. Many tycoons swear by it. They should be kept singly, in fives or in nines. If you decide to keep more than one, you should ensure your aquarium is big enough, or they may fight (not something that’s likely to produce good Chi)! Your arowana can be kept in your water star 8 sector, the Southeast, East or North of your home or office. To find the correct compass direction, stand in the middle of the room to take directions.

Here’s a tip when rearing these magnificent dragon fish though – do not be tempted to feed them with live bait. There are myths that arowanas grow healthier if fed with succulent live goldfish. They are just that, myths! By feeding your arowana with live fish, you are creating negative karma. It is far better to teach your arowana from young to live on frozen worms… I have seen many such arowanas who grow up to be just as beautiful (if not more beautiful) than their live-fish-eating counterparts.

3. NEVER HAVE WATER ABOVE YOU

As documented in the I-Ching, water above poses great danger. Thus, never sleep with water above you. Do not hang a painting of water on the wall above where you sleep. I have known of a case of a so-called feng shui consultant recommending the hanging of a painting of a waterfall on the wall above the headboard of the bed. His logic was that it would symbolize water bringing plenty of wealth to the occupiers of the bed as they slept. This only served to prevent his clients from getting a good night’s sleep, and his clients were in fact lucky not to have had an accident. The insomnia went away as soon as the water painting was removed.

Similarly, it is very dangerous to have a swimming pool on your roof. This used to be a common practice with tall buildings, especially hotels and resorts in cities, where it somehow made sense to put the swimming pool on the roof, so one could enjoy the sky and sunshine as one swam. Here is another feng shui taboo that has caused many companies to collapse.

4. NEVER DISPLAY WATER WHERE YOUR MOUNTAIN STAR 8 IS LOCATED

Your mountain star 8, like your water star 8, is one of the most auspicious stars in your flying star natal chart. This star brings abundant good luck in the form of good relationships with family members, colleagues, friends and business associates. It also brings good health and longevity luck to members of the household.

However, if you have a water feature in your mountain star 8 sector, the mountain star is said to fall into the water. The luck of the sector is destroyed and you will face problems with health and with your relationships. Relationship problems can come in all forms, from misunderstandings with your boss, colleagues & subordinates, arguments with your spouse and kids, to a decrease in popularity with your peers. You mountain star 8 falling into the water also becomes dangerous if you have elderly persons living in the home, as health & longevity luck is curtailed. To find your mountain star 8, plot your natal chart according to flying star feng shui.

5. NEVER HAVE A WATER FEATURE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF YOUR FRONT DOOR

This is the single most reported cause for a husband going astray. Nine times out of ten, if there is a case of a husband having affairs with other women, you’ll find the home has a water feature on the right hand side of the front door (from the inside looking out). The worst kind of water feature for aggravating the roving eye of the husband are ponds and pools which are sunken into the ground. These are also the most difficult to change. Many a time, when a stubborn pond lover or fish enthusiast has refused to “close up” their much-loved pond despite the inauspicious feng shui implications, they’ve ended up not just with a philandering husband, but no husband at all! Divorce is not out of the question with such a water taboo.

If you absolutely cannot move your pond or close it up, another solution, is to move the front door. But whatever steps you take, you must ensure you never live with this kind of water taboo for too long if you value a happy. marriage.

6. WATER IN THE NORTH BRINGS ENHANCED CAREER PROSPECTS

For career people, water in the North is an excellent energizer for advancement up the corporate ladder. The North sector, which governs career luck, is also characterized by the element of water. Keep a fish tank or some other bubbling water feature in the North to activate luck in your job. If you cannot use real water, you can substitute with the colors blue or black, or with a piece of art featuring water.

7. USE WATER TO ABSORB BAD VIBRATIONS

Water is the single most effective cure for absorbing bad vibes and energies. If there seems to be excessive quarrelling in the household, check your flying star natal chart. It could be that one of the rooms where you spend a lot of time (e.g. the living or dining room) houses the quarrelsome 2/3 or 3/2 combination. If so, place a YIN water cure here. The best Yin water cure to use is a lacquer bowl filled with still water. Be sure to change the water regularly to ensure no breeding of mosquitoes, but the water must be quiet, without bubbles, movement and no fish or living creatures.

8. WATER IN THE SOUTHEAST & EAST BRING GROWTH ENERGY

The Southeast and East sectors are both wood sectors. As such, they both benefit from water, as water causes wood (plants, trees) to grow. The Southeast governs the prosperity and material wealth luck of the home (Eight Aspirations theory) whilst the East governs health and family issues,

By placing a water feature in the East or Southeast, you introduce growth energy into the household. This causes your children to grow up into healthy young adults with good values, it causes your business / career to flourish, and it broadens your horizons for achievement.

LA CASA DE PAPEL / MONEY HEIST

Meeting the
La Casa De Papel gang in Paris

by Jennifer Too

Luka Peros, Pedro Alonso & Itziar Ituño at THUG Conference, Paris, Jan 2022.

I decided to get 2022 off to a flying start as we prepare for the Lunar Year of the Tiger by making a trip to Paris, the City of Love, to meet some of the La Casa De Papel/ Money Heist gang. Those of you have not yet watched the show on Netflix, where have you been, and those that have, if ever you get the chance to meet the actors behind the series, do it, it is magic!

The Paris event organised by Ultimevents (www.ultimevents.com) featured three of my favourite stars from the series, Itziar Ituño (Inspector Raquel Murillo, also Lisboa), Pedro Alonso (Berlin) and Luka Peros (Marsella). Superstars of a different order since La Casa De Papel became the most watched show on Netflix and a social phenomenon defining the age of today, in person they are so incredibly human you couldn’t imagine. The warmth, personality and time each extended to each of their fans was incredible.

The experience? Unforgettable.

Itziar Ituño’s Panel Session at THUG Conference, Paris, Jan 2022.

HAVE MORE THAN ONE PLAN

Lessons from the event? Plenty. An especially good one from Itzi – someone asked at her panel – what advice would you give to someone who has a dream that’s really difficult to achieve, and so is hesitant to go for it, for fear they can’t make it, and how not to get demotivated?

She says, well it’s a cliche to say that if one fights for a dream, you will achieve it. Many times that doesn’t happen. So it’s important to have more than one dream. Have a Plan A, Plan B, Plan C…

Itziar Ituño’s Panel Session at THUG Conference, Paris, Jan 2022.

This applies now more than ever.

In the coming Year of the Tiger, while we always want to predict good news, it must be said that the tiger is a wild animal and Tiger years are always years with a double edge. 2022 in particular, because it is a year of THREE tigers. The year’s Paht Chee or “birth” chart features not one but three tigers, and because you can only have one tiger on the hill, three in this case is certainly a crowd, and there will be jostling for dominance, and for power. It means competition will be fierce and sometimes brutal.

The upside is that the Tiger is a bringer of wealth. There is wealth to be made but it is not necessarily easy wealth, nor will everyone benefit equally. How do you make the energies of the coming year work for you?

As with Itzi’s advice – don’t doggedly stick to one plan. Have a few up your sleeve. Try different things. Don’t get disheartened just because one of your goals doesn’t work out immediately. The coming year, if you look at the chart, is one that is lacking in resources, and in creativity and intelligence. If you can take pause and plan, allocate your resources and time carefully, be flexible in your means and your methods… this is the best way to navigate the coming year.

Of course, you should also use the help of feng shui symbols. There is nothing quite so effective as the power of symbols to actualise good fortune luck, and each year we study the charts to design just what is needed for the coming year.

FIVE YELLOW IN CENTER

2022 sees the Five Yellow star back in the Center of the Lo Shu chart, it’s original position. This makes its effect more potent, and because it is an afflictive earth star, the best way to keep it under control and to transform its energies to work for you is to engage powerful heaven energy. For this we bring you the Supremacy of Heaven Plate, which comes with 6 (the power of heaven) celestial creatures bringing you luck from the heavens.

This is a year too when engaging the Sky Animals of the Lunar Mansion becomes more potent than ever… which is why we incorporated some of these into this year’s feng shui enhancers. These Sky Animals are from the celestial realms, and they ensure you get your timing right. We all know that often, timing is everything. A good decision taken at the wrong time can turn out to be a bad one. The sky animals help to ensure you get your timing right.

Each one of them has its own unique attributes and we have picked our favourites to make into beautiful desktop displays and attractive charm bracelets.

Click here for more on the Sky Animals.

Pedro Alonso & Itziar Ituño… closing the conference with “Bella Ciao”.

MORE ON “THE HOLD UP GANG”

We also took a look at some of the La Casa De Papel stars and their astrology.

Itziar Ituño ~ Raquel Murillo / Lisboa

Itziar is a Tiger, which means that this is her year. The animal sign of the year always has the strong support of the Tai Sui or God of the Year, which suggests she will have a lot of support and backing from all the right people. She is already a famed name worldwide, but the coming year suggests she is just going to get bigger. The flying star in the Tiger sector is also the Prosperity Star 8, which means many opportunities to augment one’s wealth. A very exciting year ahead for the Tiger, a year to make the most of every opportunity that comes along. If there is a sign that can weather a Tiger year, it is the mighty Tiger itself. What the Tiger needs the most in 2022 is the unwavering backing of the Tai Sui, and for this we recommend carrying and displaying this year’s Tai Sui amulet.

Pedro Alonso ~ Berlin / Andres Fonollosa

This suave gentleman is a Boar, and those born in the year of the Boar have the backing of the Heaven Star 6 in 2022. This means plenty of new opportunities. His character Berlin sacrificed himself for the gang at the end of Part 2 but fans loved him too much for that to mean goodbye, so he appeared in Parts 3, 4 and 5 in plenty of flashbacks and part of a rich and multi-layered back story. We are all so sad to see the end of La Casa De Papelwith the finale that aired in December 2021, but in 2023, Alex Pina, Jesus Colmenar, Vancouver Media and Netflix are bringing back our favourite bank robber in a “spin off” of the show, “BERLIN”.

Luka Peros ~ Marsella

In the show, Luka plays Marsella, the Professor’s bodyguard, the guy who likes animals better than people (many times I can relate! Lol). Luka is a Dragon. Dragons are the only sign in the entire Chinese horoscope that’s a celestial creature. In 2022, the Dragon enjoys so many Auspicious Stars from the 24 mountains it’s almost unfair! What this means is there will be many little breaks and big breaks coming its way. The only blemish for the Dragon’s luck next year are its weak levels of element luck… which means a tendency to give up too early. The advice for Dragons in 2022 is to see things through. Obstacles that crop up are not signs you should give up; on the contrary, Dragons need to use these to strengthen their resolve and fight even harder for their cause. But Dragons need to love what they do, because they are creatures of passion, so they should pursue what they enjoy. Their passion, charisma and zest for life is what will get them through the year with great and notable success.

Gong Xi Fa Cai and we wish you all a very prosperous, abundant, safe, healthy and happy Chinese New Year!

It’s that time of year when College students are headed back to campus. For those being away from home for the first time, it can feel daunting. For others, an exciting adventure awaits. Apart from settling into dorm life, making new friends and coping with homesickness, how to ensure you survive and positively thrive in a College setting? Can feng shui help? Of course!

Feng shui is ensuring the energies that surround you work for you and not against you. Feng shui is not complicated and it shouldn’t be made out to be. It is like anything else – learn the basics and check off your checklist feng shui to dos, while avoiding feng shui taboos.

For College students, here are the most important:

1. GET YOURSELF A GOOD BOOK BAG

The best way to start off a new school year is to get yourself a new book bag! Make sure your new bag is of good quality – something that evokes sturdiness, strength, durability. College life is fun, but there will be tough moments when you need resilience and staying power. There will be an adjustment period when you acclimatize to a bigger workload, new learning style and self-discipline. A sturdy book bag to get you on the right track is a good place to start.

Education scholastic amulet2. CLIP ON AN EDUCATION AMULET

Never dismiss the power of symbolism. That’s why each year we design activators for different kinds of luck. Study luck is the most important for the young person, and our scholastic enhancers feature all the symbols of good education luck, together with lucky Dakini symbol for luck in exams and learning. Clip onto your bookbag at the start of the year.

3. PICK YOUR DORM ROOM WISELY

If you have a choice of dorm room, pick one with a bed where your head can be pointed towards your FU WEI direction. Each person has four auspicious directions they can tap. For the student, the best direction is your Fu Wei, which brings Personal Development luck. Pick a room and bed that allows your head to point this way. Sleeping the right way is SO important for the student. It allows you to get a good night’s sleep and ensures the knowledge you learn during the day has the best chance to sink in as you sleep at night.

4. PACK BRIGHT COLOURS

When you’re living away from home, you will have to do your own laundry. For most young people, this may be a first, so collate a wardrobe that’s low maintenance – machine washable and dryer friendly.

Equally important – don’t pack just dull clothes. Blacks, greys and navy blues are suitably studious, but too much of such colours could get you down, particularly for those schooling in climates that get cold and dreary in the autumn and winter months.

Introduce a pop of bright colour – a scarf, a top, your school bag. Bright colours do so much for your mood and will help you stand out in a crowd; useful at College when getting noticed has its benefits.

5. DON’T CUT YOUR HAIR TOO SHORT!

Hair that is too short is unlucky. Many guys before the start of a new term have their hair cut short, so their haircut “lasts” a long time, before they have to make their next appointment to the hairdressers. Or parents arrange for enough hair to be taken off, so their kids don’t end up looking like mops by the next holiday. BUT cutting your hair too short cuts away your good luck!

Your hair is your crowning glory, so don’t let your hairdresser take off too much. If you find overly long hair too hot, at least leave enough as a fringe. Having enough hair gives you a certain charm, but more importantly, brings you good luck.

AVOID RIPPED JEANS

Designer rips may make you look hip but does NOT make suitable college wear. At College you should aim to achieve the right vibe. Keep your clothing decent, professional and non-ripped. Ripped is never considered good feng shui, particularly so when attending College.

6. PEN AND PAPER

Don’t neglect a good set of stationary. Pens and plenty of writing paper. When you’re trying to retain knowledge, there is nothing better than making notes the old-fashioned way. Writing by hand influences your cognitive process in a way that slows you down – allowing your brain more time to think and soak up what you’re learning – much more so than typing on a keyboard.

It helps improve your understanding and helps you to remember new knowledge better. For students, handing in neatly-typed-up assignments is great, and will be well appreciated by your Professors, but don’t substitute handwriting completely. Handwritten notes at the research and planning stage are a hugely important part of the learning process.

7. HAVE DIFFERENT GROUPS

Once you find your clique of friends, it is easy to become so comfortable it seems senseless to put effort into developing more diverse groups and connections. But for a healthy College life, you need both close friends, and friends that are not so close. There’s great value in mixing with different influences that bring new stimulus your way.

Have dorm mates, study mates, sports gang. Be diverse in your social choices. And don’t neglect becoming acquainted with teachers and professors. When you find a way to connect with them on a level, it helps prepare you for the real world where you will be required to converse with people of all ages and experience. It will make you more mature, and this maturity will come across in your work, giving you an advantage over your peers.

8. DON’T GIVE UP EXTRA-CURRICULARS

Just because you are trying to focus on your studies does not mean you should give up on your passions and pet loves. The workload at College may be more demanding, but having other activities balance out your days actually makes you more productive. Once you leave College, you have even less time to indulge in music, drama, sports, debate; don’t waste the varied opportunities that College life provides.

As we enter the closing days of the year of the Earth Dog, we spent Christmas Day making a hundred balloon dogs to celebrate a year that was chock full of highs and lows.

2018 lives up to its namesake’s character. The dog – especially the Earth Dog – brings the good, the bad and the ugly, in equal measures. The year just past saw major upheavals and change, some shocking, some unexpected, some desired, some not; but amidst the turmoil and the upheaval, we also see new hope and optimism.

The Year of the Earth Boar around the corner promises to be the calm after the storm. But there will be a period of rebuilding, of redirection and of preparing for a brighter better future. (See here.)

On a macro scale, we are on the cusp of so many breakthroughs. Technology is advancing at such a rapid pace it is at the same time both terrifying and exciting. On a micro scale, and as a parent to young children growing up too fast, it accentuates our responsibilities to nurture them for a world that holds out so much promise.

With this thought in mind, we spent our Christmas Day returning to the simple pleasures in life – doing not much chilling at home but we did learn a new skill – twisting balloon dogs – and we also created an abundantly rich and happy “live art experience” in the style of Yayoi Kusama.

Immersing ourselves in art at Yayoi Kusama’s Exhibition in Singapore in 2017.

Last year we took the budding artist of our nine-year-old son Josh to Kusama’s exhibition when it came to Singapore, and he spent a good two hours taking in the rooms full of “experiential art” – balls, baubles and shapes rendered in brilliant hues and colours that spanned the entire spectrum of the rainbow.

Within the yellow and black polka dotted room by Yayoi Kusama, one of the pioneers of what they now term “experiential art” or “live art”.

Posing amidst the sculptures and paintings, something must have struck a chord. As we blew up balloon after balloon and twisted them into dogs of all shapes, colours and sizes, which Joshy carefully laid down in somewhat symmetrical rows, it started to dawn on me we were not just passing time in the easy company of family – we were creating art!

Our living room had transformed into an art gallery quite by chance! And here are the pictures to prove it!

Our very own “live art experience” at home. And you can do it too!
Even our dog loves them!

Fitting that we send off the dog year with a hundred happy dogs made from balloons of all colours. A bit of Jeff Koons in there as well – though not so large.

Above left: Jeff Koons, who teamed up with Louis Vuitton to celebrate the Old Masters with da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Monet’s waterlilies and Van Gogh’s wheat fields, famously married balloon art with experiential art, which made him one of the world’s most successful living artists. In 2013, Koon’s Balloon Dog (Orange) sold at Christie’s for a whopping USD58.4 million, at the time becoming the most expensive work by a living artist sold at auction! Above right: Our balloon dog 😊

Symbolically I see it as remembering all that was good in this Dog Year and taking it with us as we enter a brave new tomorrow.

Josh and I started to give each dog a name and character, play-acting like the cartoon canines in the animated movie Pets. But then Josh wisely says, “Mummy we shouldn’t give them names, coz when they all deflate tomorrow it will be so sad to say goodbye.” So wise! “True! Let’s not give them names then.”

Who would’ve thought an activity so simple as this can teach impermanence, symbolism and art studies all in one?

Happy new year y’all and wishing you a wonderful year ahead!

Our family celebrates everything – Christmas, New Year’s, Chinese New Year, Diwali, Wesak Day, birthdays – because positive energies come about when we churn them up. Yes! Feng Shui is all about moving and celebrating energy, and in order to awaken the energies of your home, one needs to activate them!

It’s not that difficult to boost lucky energies when you know how, and it’s not that hard to learn either!

First, understand that energy in the home affects your well-being – this is the underlying concept on which to build on, then you just have to set about activating these energies to brighten and strengthen the happiness vibrations of your everyday life. This way, feng shui does not become a chore – instead it becomes a real joy to keep the chi energy working in your favour!

Do become familiar with the feng shui map of your home – especially the rooms where you spend the most time. Locate and pinpoint all the lucky spots in your home’s personalized feng shui map, then systematically target these lucky “spots” to activate with symbols of good fortune, lights, movement and sounds.

Feng shui can be totally customized to your way of living, fitted to complement your lifestyle, your habits, your eccentricities and your own belief systems.

With Christmas coming up, we this use this wonderful time of year, when gift giving is such a beautiful tradition, as an opportunity to “redecorate” and manoeuvre the joyous holiday and “gift giving” energies to bring yet greater good fortune to the family.

How do we do this?

We put up a Christmas tree as soon as it is no longer “too early”! Research has proven that people who put up their trees earlier are happier – getting into the Christmas spirit earlier and feeling the energies of the season brightens one’s days and for longer! But you don’t need research to tell you that – the sight of your twinkling Christmas lights will naturally put you in a better mood.

Is there a Feng Shui-way to putting up your Christmas tree?

For sure this is a wonderful time to churn up the energies, get it moving joyously, and activate it with twinkling lights and lots of gift-wrapped packages, bringing in the joyous mood!

So here we share 10 things to remember when you put up your tree. Think of it as your Tree of Life, your Tree of Wealth, your Tree of Joyousness – whatever works for you and your tree will surely create the magic you desire for your family!

1. Identify the best sector to place your tree

Check your monthly Flying Stars before you bring out your tree. You don’t want to go to all that trouble, then have it wreak havoc when you discover it’s churning up Five Yellow energies for instance! This year’s December chart looks like this:

The lucky sectors this December are South (8), West (6), Southwest (1) and Northeast (Sum-of-Ten). The Center is also good. So if you can, place your tree in one of these sectors of your living room. In the South, your tree will activate the prosperity energies of the monthly #8 wealth star. In the West, your tree will bring you Heaven Luck – windfalls, opportunities, helpful people and things falling nicely into place for you.

In the Southwest, the matriarch’s sector, your tree will activate for family harmony as well as the Ho Tu combination of 1/6. In the Northeast, you have the sum-of-ten combination, and in the Center, your tree will boost relationships and personal growth for the young people in the family. So if you can, activate these sectors with your tree!

2. Make sure your tree lights are bright!

If you’re in the habit of re-using your tree each year, make it a point to change the lights that light up your tree. Often, re-using lights from previous years leaves you with a tree with fused bulbs or dim and dull lights. This is not so good and you do not want last year’s energies. So do get new lights!

3. Have lights that twinkle, glimmer and glow!

Find lights that glow and sparkle so your tree comes alive with new energies! This year, I found these amazing all-weather fairy lights with 8 different settings – still, flickering, simmering, flashing, running, and at different speeds – all controlled by remote control. These allow us to change the “look” of the tree depending on the energy of the day.

Earlier in the evening, we usually play fast rhythm Christmas music and set the tree lights to blink and flash in quick and happy tones. As we mellow through the evening and play more nostalgic Christmas tunes, we set the lights to simmer and glow. Really magical!
My new discovery this Christmas!

4. Add NEW Christmas hangings each year

It’s a wonderful habit to add at least one (and if you can a lot more) decorative and lucky ornaments each year. We love adding feng shui hangings that signify growth and expansion, and that symbolize new wealth and abundance – powerful luck bringers at a most joyous time!

5. Discard faded old decorations

There’s bound to be wear and tear on tree decorations, so do discard those that look old and faded unless they have some sentimental value. It is preferable to use NEW decorations each year to signify NEW energies to ring in the new year!

6. Use 2019 hangings of good fortune!

Decorating with lights and baubles makes your tree shine, but it is most meaningful to place hangings that bring good fortune, and here is where our feng shui hangings are just so easy to use and SO meaningful for every member of the family.

Plus after these hangings get “energized” on the Christmas Tree and imbued with the joyous feelings of Christmas, they become powerful symbols of great good fortune. No need to store them away then, and instead, start using them for the New Year.

Our tree is also filled with everything we love – loads of horses of course! (which btw bring success, speed, stamina and courage). We also have a wise old owl for our children to succeed in their studies and for us to always make wise decisions.

We have a squirrel holding a huge acorn, symbolizing a good reserve of resources even through the “winter” months. We have a Las Vegas style C for Chris (those of you who know my husband will know just how much he loves that city!) and J for Jennifer, Jack and Josh.

7. Hangings that bring back memories

We also have some felt Santa hangings – mementos from last year’s Christmas concert at the Russian Center that both our boys played at – this was our older son 13 y.o. Jack’s concert leading up to his LTCL Diploma piano exam, and 9 y.o. Joshy’s very first public concert, so these are meaningful indeed – Santa bringing the gift of music!

And we still have Mickey Mouse on a rocking horse – Jack’s very first Christmas hanging, a gift from Uncle Peter from Las Vegas (from nearly 14 years ago!)

8. NEVER let your tree sit without presents

This is something every feng shui practitioner should know, but sometimes we forget. Or in the business of our hectic everyday lives, we put up the tree, then just take our time buying presents.

My mum came over soon after we put up our tree this year, and with each visit, she would comment on how sad our tree looked, with no presents. Finally she got pretty upset. “Do you know how BAD feng shui it is to have a tree with absolutely NO presents?”

So today we spent the whole day shopping for presents for our tree. Our tree instantly looked happier, and our minds also got put instantly at ease.

An early tree can make you happy, but if you know feng shui, an empty tree base can make you feel very poor!! And a tree with no presents symbolises something far worse! It’s like having a ship sailing into your home with no ingots! Or a wallet with no cash. Bad bad symbolism!

So once your tree is up, get started immediately to add gifts to its base – you can build up the number of presents as you run down the days to Christmas, but you MUST place presents under the tree as soon as it is up! The Christmas Tree signifies joyous generosity – remember this always!

9. The more presents the better!

Good feng shui is about creating and living in abundance, so do place loads of presents under your Christmas Tree. You don’t need to fill your tree with extravagantly expensive gifts. Thoughtful, heartfelt and especially FUN gifts are best. Encourage family members to get gifts for each other and get them to place their gifts under the tree early – so the gifts have a whole month to soak up the tree’s wonderful festive energies.

10. Keep the tree lights on through the night

Don’t try to save electricity by switching off your tree lights. Keep your lights on for as long as you can through the night hours. If your tree is in a lucky sector, you’ll be activating good luck through the hours when the lights are turned on. Lights are the most powerful way of activating the Fire element, which brings happiness and good fortune. And remember that for 2019, Fire 🔥 element brings wealth!

Here’s wishing everyone a joyous Christmas with your families and loved ones and a very lucky and prosperous New Year.

This November has offered up two superb music-related movies – the remake of A STAR IS BORN starring BRADLEY COOPER for which this is also his directorial debut and the fabulous LADY GAGA who joins the ranks of Jennifer Lopez, Cher and Barbra Streisand proving she can act as well as sing, and perhaps even surpassing them. The other treat was the Freddie Mercury biopic BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY starring RAMI MALEK, whose release was eagerly awaited by all Queen fans.

First up – A STAR IS BORN.
A remake of a well-told tale, this is not the first remake, nor is it even the second or third, but the fourth. The first 1954 version starred Judy Garland and James Mason, the second in 1976 featured Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson, and in 2013, the tale was retold again in AASHIQUI 2 with Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kappor.

BRADLEY COOPER and LADY GAGA are retelling a well-known tale, making the creative challenge all the greater, and the comparisons with previous already very good incarnations unyielding. But not only did this version live up to its predecessors, I think it succeeded in surpassing them.

I was a huge huge fan of Barbra Streisand, and adored the version she made with country star Kris Kristofferson – both actors there were as famous for their singing careers as their acting ones. In Bradley Cooper’s version, they were banking on one of today’s biggest music stars – Lady Gaga – to pull it off, but it was going to be a gamble, as a talent for singing does not always naturally extend to acting, as witnessed with Madonna’s many attempts to become a movie star.

Lady Gaga here proves she has talent way beyond her powerful voice and her propensity to shock. In this movie, gone is the theatrical Gaga with heavy eyeliner and severe bobcut hairstyle, and instead she is a stripped bare, make-up free version of herself – somewhat almost unrecognisable at first – and the more you watch, the more you love her. She has talent in the spadefuls and her onscreen chemistry with the equally talented Bradley Cooper is evident from the start.

And Lady Gaga is not the only good thing about this movie. Just as Gaga is proving she can act, Bradley Cooper is proving he can sing, and be a rockstar. He is utterly believable as superstar rocker Jackson Maine, and swooningly attractive – he should wear his hair in this style ALL the time. His singing voice is so good I actually even preferred some of his stuff to Lady Gaga’s in the movie.

Some trivia – Bradley Cooper came on board this project as a directorial challenge, and at first did not consider himself a contender at all to play the male lead – in fact he wanted JACK WHITE, an established musician who also has acting experience, to play Jackson Maine. The producers rejected this idea, and thank goodness, as the movie worked so well not just because Lady Gaga could act, but because she had a first rate leading man to play off.

All the original songs in the movie are superb, but it succeeds as a movie because it is a love story and it is the characters you come away loving, not just the songs. Of the many shows I’ve trekked to to watch this past year, this is definitely a standout one, and deserving of Oscar honours.

Wood Tiger Bradley Cooper and Fire Tiger Lady Gaga achieve plenty of onscreen chemistry in the recent remake of A Star Is Born. What can be more sizzling that 1 Tiger are two Tigers! In the year of the Dog, the astrological ally of the Tiger, these two are backed by energies that are friendly and auspicious. Come Oscar season in February 2019, they enter the Year of the Boar, the secret friend of their shared astrological sign of Tiger. A sign of things to come?

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY WORKS. JUST.

The other movie to watch this year-end is the Freddie Mercury/Queen biopic.

Here the songs were bound to work – Queen was the greatest rock band there ever was! Whether or not the movie worked, you could close your eyes and just enjoy the good music. But picking the right actor to take on one of the most charismatic personalities of our lifetime was the biggest challenge. RAMI MALEK to his credit gives it a real go, but falls far short of doing Freddie Mercury justice.

The show has garnered a number of great reviews and the world seems to be raving at how accurately Rami Malek does the Mercury strut and how closely he managed to channel Freddie in the final LIVE AID scene – a performance that has gone down in history as one of the best live rock performances of ALL time.

While the Freddie Mercury life story is an interesting tale, Bohemian Rhapsody does not tell it at all with strict accuracy. The movie begins with a young Freddie working luggage at Heathrow being teased for being a “Paki” boy. Then he is mocked for his trademark buck teeth – a detail the movie plays up a bit too much, with Rami Malek sticking out his front teeth all movie long, something I think caused him to speak with almost a lisp. If you watch any Freddie interview and listen to his speaking voice, the real Frddie does NOT speak with a lisp.

Perhaps all this is done for dramatic effect, but as a Freddie Mercury fan, this did not sit well.

The movie also plays up the alcoholic, drug-fuelled lifestyle that Freddie Mercury falls into, which translates into Malek acting out an almost spaced-out Freddie – but again, this does not do the real Freddie justice. Not one time has Freddie Mercury come across spaced out or high in his own interviews – he was dramatic, theatrical, charismatic, funny and showy – all the marks of a true performer – but he was never “spacey”.

After his death, Freddie Mercury’s bandmates Brian May and Roger Taylor took it upon themselves to give interviews to stand up for their bandmate, to dispel the rumours that Freddie was an irresponsible alcohol and drug user with a promiscuous sex life. They strongly refuted that fact, and said that on the contrary, he was always extremely responsible, hardworking and highly dedicated to his music and his work, and he cared deeply for the people who were close to him.

Bohemian Rhapsody is highly watchable, but you’ll leave the movie adamant that was not the Freddie we all loved and cherished, and it will take you to your iPhone to download all of Queen’s greatest hits to put back into your playlist, and to YouTube to watch videos of the real Freddie – and then you will agree that the Freddie in the movie came nowhere close to the real thing.

Rami Malek channels Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody, but despite the accurate costumes, hairstyling, makeup and carefully choreographed body language, falls short.

MUSIC IS ENERGY
What has all this to do with feng shui? Well, in fact, music has the biggest thing of all to do with feng shui. Music makes you feel; it changes the ambience and energies of any living space when you play it.

Good music makes you feel something. If you play happy music, it lifts your spirits. If you play sad music, it makes you melancholy. If you play angry music, it riles you, and gives you the courage to act on your convictions. All kinds of music affect us – but the music that can really make a positive change in your life is music that inspires you.

In these two movies, there is a abundance of music that will touch something deep within you – and while it will make you feel a whole range of emotions – the point is it will make you feel, and it will make you come alive.

China has been modernizing at rocket pace, catching up and even overtaking the West in areas ranging from technology, the arts, the sciences and most visually, in its cities’ skylines. China’s architecture of today features not just functional buildings but doubles up as tourist attractions and genuine behemoth-sized works of art.

The latest marvel unveiled on Oct 1st 2017 on China’s National Day is the impressive TIANJIN BINHAI PUBLIC LIBRARY. Looking more like a movie set than a library, the building features a luminous spherical structure designed to look like a 3D eyeball within an eye, with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves covering every stretch of wall within its ultra modern interior.

Built as part of the Binhai Cultural Center, the public library, nicknamed “The Eye”, is one of five of the center’s main attractions. Designed by Dutch architectural firm MVRDV working alongside a group of local architects through the Tianjin Urban Planning and Design Institute (TUPDI), not only have they taken book reading to a whole new level, they have taken one of the symbols that the Chinese hold most dear – scholastic prowess – and brought it to life in the swankiest, most upscale manner, overnight transforming the port city of Tianjin into a must-visit tourist landmark. Since its opening, the library has attracted over 15,000 visitors each weekend.

ALL-SEEING EYE

The eye symbolizes many things, but most of all it symbolizes wisdom, knowledge, vision and foresight. And so it seems particularly apt for a public library – whose role is to house the most traditional vessels of knowledge, books – to be fashioned after an eye. The 3D sphere that forms the centerpiece of the main atrium also represents the energies of heaven through its circular shape, suggesting knowledge transcending from a higher source. Viewed from the outside through an eye-shaped opening, the sphere is the iris, while the petal-shaped opening is the eye.

There is also a “Book Mountain” formed by the contours and curves of the designer shelving, which clads the entire wall, which gives an impression of not just thousands of books but millions. The Chinese have never been known to do anything by half measures – in fact, to the Chinese, two of anything is always better than one, think double fish, double happiness – and nine is always better than two, and multiples of 9 are even better. Abundance is the keyword when one follows traditional Chinese feng shui, and this library has followed a design brief that reflects just that.

NOT ALL REAL BOOKS.
SO WHAT?

Critics of the library point out that the Wow factor hides the fact the shelves and shelves of books are fake – those are not real books lining the public atrium, but aluminum panels installed and painted to give the impression of millions of books. But here’s another of Chinese feng shui’s doctrines – you don’t need something to be real, you just need it to seem real. An impression is good enough, till you have the real thing. That is why when feng shui requires the energies of a horse, and you don’t have a real horse, you put a statue or figurine of a horse. If you need fire, and you obviously don’t want to burn down your house, you paint the wall red. Or you introduce soft furnishings in the colour of fire.

The real reason the books in the atrium are not real books is for safety purposes. Says the library’s deputy director Liu Xiu Feng, “The library has other rooms in which there are traditional bookshelves, which are actually filled with books, but the authorities didn’t allow for real books to be put in the main hall.” The atrium was designed for “sitting, circulating, reading and discussion, not storage of books.”

Those are not real books lining the public atrium, but aluminum panels installed and painted to give the impression of millions of books. But here’s another of Chinese feng shui’s doctrines – you don’t need something to be real, you just need it to seem real.

The heart of the library, the atrium, has been designed as “an urban living room”, designed to impress and to inspire. To come away from the Tianjin Binhai Library having immersed oneself figuratively and literally in books must be the best feng shui of all. And with this project, it is not just the finished result that impresses, but the short time in which it took from first drawings to useable space. From idea to reality, it took just three years. The local government moved up the timeline, which meant the initial idea of having the upper bookshelves of the main hall accessible from rooms placed behind the atrium had to be abandoned. But still, even without those bookcases being actually useable, the library still has capacity to hold up to 1.2 million books. Presently there are 200,000 books in the library, leaving it with plenty of capacity “to grow”.

EXCELLENT TIMING

The grand opening of this all-white marvel is particularly good timing for Tianjin as we head into 2018, a year completely lacking in Metal. Its visual symbolism is a modern architectural wonder, placing Tianjin on the world map in terms of design, and this is just the start. To come still are the Binhai Modern Art Museum, the Binhai Modern City and Industrial Discovery Museum, and the Binhai Performing Arts Center. All these buildings will be connected by a public corridor with an equally futuristic looking glass canopy.

To get there? High-speed rail, another of China’s impressive innovations, which links Tianjin to Beijing in under 35 minutes. Definitely worth a visit, and most excellent feng shui!

Malaysia was recently treated to a one-night-only performance by one of Asia’s most successful concert pianists, Yiruma. But Yiruma does not style himself a concert pianist, despite selling out auditoriums in multiple cities for his solo piano shows every time he goes on tour. He describes himself as a composer first, a performer second. When he was studying music, he says all he ever wanted to do was to write music. The fact he ended up performing his own music was quite by chance, although watching his show, it seems like this is what he is truly born to do.

A gifted young man from South Korea, Yiruma became a worldwide sensation with the release of his second album “First Love” in 2001, around the time the Korean Wave of K-Pop and K-Drama was beginning to enthrall the world in the late 1990’s. His hit song “River Flows in You” (from that album) has become almost obligatory material for piano lovers. In addition to releasing albums where he performs his own music, he also publishes piano sheet music for amateur pianists so they too can enjoy playing his music. His songs – yes, he refers to his pieces as “songs”, going against classical convention that piano pieces should be called pieces not songs – are graded around the Grade 7 level according to the Royal Conservatory standards, making his material very accessible to the average pianist.

Because his pieces are all instrumental in nature, he takes to the mic after every two or three pieces to explain his music and where it comes from. He asks the audience to imagine their own journey, to daydream and to reminisce over memories as they listen to his music.

His music is proof that classical pieces do not need to be impossibly difficult to play to sound good. During his performance, he told his audience that he believed a lot of them played piano, and probably better than him (in his trademark self-deprecating manner), but of course, while most pianists can manage a Yiruma piece, to play it well, or to play it like Yiruma himself, is a different matter altogether. Because his music is so popular, I have heard various performances of his material covered by other professionals – none sound like the man himself. Watching him live is like getting to watch Beethoven played by Beethoven, or watching Rachmaninoff performed by Rachmaninoff.

While Yiruma is classically trained, studying at the oldest specialist school of music in the UK, the Purcell School from the age of 10, followed by a degree major in music composition at King’s College London, Yiruma has taken his piano compositions into a completely different direction. His music has been labelled everything from New Age to Contemporary Classical to Popular Piano – and it is probably all these things. His sound is reminiscent of soundtracks to movies and television dramas, and his music is easy on the non-classical ear, which no doubt has broadened his appeal to the masses. His concerts are filled with audience members of all ages, who clap in between his pieces before the final notes fade into the silence. And he doesn’t get up to bow in between every single movement.

Yes, refreshingly un-Philharmonic-like!

Music and feng shui go hand in hand. Listening is one of the five senses, and music has the power to heighten any emotion, indeed change the energy that permeates any space. When you fill your home with beautiful inspiring music, it can magically inspire those within earshot. Music has the ability to move you, to enthuse and arouse you, filling your world with yang chi – precious and so auspicious.

Because his pieces are all instrumental in nature, he takes to the mic after every two or three pieces to explain his music and where it comes from. He asks the audience to imagine their own journey, to daydream and to reminisce over memories as they listen to his music.

His method of composition, he reveals, is to sit at the piano in the dark, let his mind wander, and the notes will come. He displays his virtuosity and musical genius by inviting a member of the audience onto the stage, to provide him with a set of starter notes around which he improvises and composes a brand new piece on the spot.

Much of the inspiration for his songs centers around love, hope, inspiration and aspiration. His name “Yiruma” – a stage name – in Korean means “I shall achieve”. He stresses that his music is quiet, calm and soothing, because that’s the way he likes it.

Yiruma is both an accomplished composer and musical artist.

He says to the audience, “Please enjoy. Think of your own story to go with my music, some of you will maybe fall asleep… but I don’t care,” he jests, drawing laughter from the crowd. When you listen to his albums and recordings, it makes choice massage music because you can close your eyes and drift away, but watching him live, the last thing you want to do is miss anything. He is enthralling.

Similarly, when you play melancholy music – which has its own masochistic appeal – it makes you feel sad. I cannot overly stress the danger of prolonged exposure to sad music.

A vivid personal example was when I was studying for my GCSEs as a teenager; I would play instrumental music in the background to break the monotony of studying. One soundtrack I adored was John Williams’ music for Schindler’s List, which so vividly brought out the great tragedy that was the Holocaust. It is mesmerizing, achingly beautiful music, but I had never felt so downright miserable in my life, bordering on depression. I would burst out in tears for no reason at all, and when my mum found out, she said please, please stop playing that music.

Yiruma’s music is definitely good feng shui, inspiring strong positive feelings and images, and creating powerful soft energy on the senses. His music is tranquil, calming and inspiring all at the same time. His pieces have titles like Kiss the Rain, River Flows in You, Beautiful Stars, The Sunbeams… They Scatter, Because I Love You… titles that bring out extremely upbeat and optimistic emotions.

Yiruma’s new album comes out this October.

Lady of the moment has to be Bollywood Goddess Priyanka Chopra, who makes her Hollywood debut this month in BAYWATCH. From winning the Miss World Pageant in 2000, to a massive Bollywood career, then becoming the first South Asian to headline a hit American TV show QUANTICO, Priyanka Chopra is proof that in the current Age of the world wide web, there are no more geographical boundaries to international fame and glory!

Priyanka is a true citizen of the world; TIME magazine named her to their list of 100 most influential people in the world. Born in India to two army physicians, she grew up in army barracks playing with loads of other kids. She says her most vivid memories of her childhood were of racing up the hill at the army base where she lived to walk around a giant Stupa – must have brought her loads of luck!

She moved to Massachusetts, USA to study at 13 years of age where she was teased for her skin colour; her classmates called her “Brownie”. That was when her dad told her being different was a strength, not a weakness. She took that as her mantra, and hasn’t looked back since.

She is the first in her family to make a career in showbiz. The decision was sort of thrust on her after winning the Miss World title in 2000 when she had just turned 18. That was when she was applying to College, but becoming a world-renowned beauty queen brought loads of recognition her way.

Offers for film roles poured in and that started her career as an actress. That was in India of course, and to date, she has made over 50 Bollywood movies.

But Priyanka set her sights far further afield than just India and she never stopped looking out for opportunities to make it in the big movie world of Hollywood. Hers was a positive mindset and she never stopped believing it would be just a matter of time before someone would spot her!

She must have set out powerful signals into the Universe!

In 2015, she landed the role of Alex Parrish in ABC’s spy thriller QUANTICO, making her the first South Asian – a foreigner – to headline an American network series. Quantico has completed two seasons, with filming beginning now on the third. This year sees Priyanka breaking into Hollywood, playing the deliciously evil villain in BAYWATCH, the remake of the David Hasselhof 80’s hit show of bodyguards in barely-there bathing suits. To date, reception has been lukewarm to the movie… but Priyanka has moved on and word is out she is negotiating a BIG role in a new superhero movie!

Not surprising as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, whose production company made BATWATCH has said about Priyanka, “I love this woman! When she came to America, we immediately had that connection. We immediately vibed, we share the same DNA, the same ambition.”

The Rock is a BIG star. We are not surprised that having caught his eye, Priyanka is sure to be the next breakout star. Only a matter of time!

If you look at Priyanka’s Four Pillars birth chart, it shares, remarkably, many similarities with Dwayne Johnson’s chart. Her chart too has all five elements present, making it very well-balanced, hence a very lucky chart. And like Johnson’s chart, her Earthly Branches are also made up of allies. She has the Dog, Horse and Tiger in her Year, Month and Day Pillars, which together form the astrological Trinity of Independents.

While Baywatch’s performance at the Box Office may have been disappointing, critics had an issue with the storyline, not the acting. And the point for Priyanka Chopra was to get herself out there and seen. Accepting the part of the villain in a comedy may have been part of the strategy, as she has hinted she would love to play a Bond villain, but more than that, she would love to play a superhero.

Says Priyanka, “When I think of American movies, they’ve had superheroes for eons, right? So I definitely want to play a superhero. I don’t know… Batgirl would be so cool.” They have just announced a new Batgirl show to be directed by Joss Whedon, who wrote and directed the Avengers movies. Beyond that, no other names have been attached, and Priyanka Chopra has just announced her interest. Who knows? This year’s Wonder Woman starring Israeli actress Gal Gadot has been outperforming itself, so taking on a foreign lead for Batgirl could be the way to go.

Priyanka Chopra has already proven herself on QUANTICO, where she plays FBI agent Alex Parrish. While she’s no doubt a chameleon, playing the bad guy with as much gusto as the good guy, having watched her as Agent Parrish, I must confess she suits the heroine roles a lot better.

Next year is the year of the Earth Dog, a Double Earth year, and Earth is Priyanka Chopra’s Fame element. Her first big break came in an Earth year, that of the Dragon, when she won Miss World in 2000. It was also a strong Earth period according to her Ten Year Luck Pillars. 2015 when she broke into American network TV was also an Earth year, the Year of the Sheep. 2018 will be the Year of the Dog, and could be yet another rung up the ladder for Priyanka’s quest to conquer the world. We wish her the very best!

Dwayne Johnson is no ordinary superstar. He’s one of those stars who seems to excel at everything he puts his hand to. All-rounder does not even begin to personify him. When he first broke out in Hollywood, he did so with a bang, earning the largest paycheck for a newcomer in a starring role, being paid US$5.5 million for The Scorpion King. In 2016, he was named by Forbes as the world’s highest paid actor, raking in US$ 64.5 million that year alone. This year, there are murmurings he will run for President against Trump in 2020, and he has not denied that he won’t. In fact, he’s said he will for sure consider it. If we can have a reality star in the White House, why not a world champion wrestler and A-list Hollywood superstar?

Dwayne Johnson’s story reads like the classic rags-to-riches story. While he’s a third-generation professional wrestler (both his father and maternal grandfather were pro wrestlers) he’s the first in his family to go to College. He says that when he was a teenager, he was a real rebel, always getting on the wrong side of the law, a real punk. But then he was given a chance, when the football coach of his high school suggested he try out.

Football took him all the way to the University of Miami on a full scholarship. He played for the Miami Hurricanes at the Nationals, winning a National Championship with them in 1991, but then he was sidelined by injury, which kept him from being noticed by the NFL. He had set his sights on pro football, so he made use of his Canadian citizenship (he has dual US-Canadian citizenship) and managed to get a spot on the “Calgary Stampeders” team, playing with them in the Canadian Football League. But that dream was also cut short when he was cut two months into the season.

Dwayne Johnson and ex-wife Dany Garcia may be divorced but they are still close co-parents to their daughter Simone, and business partners in Seven Bucks Productions.

“Failing” at football is what Dwayne Johnson names as his biggest failure, along with failure in his marriage to his first wife, Dany Garcia. But neither of these failures can be judged on the normal scale of failing. To make it all the way to pro football can hardly be considered failing, nor can divorcing his first wife but remaining close friends and business partners with her, sharing custody of their daughter. Dwayne Johnson’s idea of failure is a far cry from everyone else’s. And perhaps that’s why he doesn’t fail. When something doesn’t work, he finds a better way.

When he couldn’t go all the way in football, he decided to pursue professional wrestling, something his dad, who was also a professional wrestler, was dead set against. But when Dwayne Johnson was adamant, his father agreed to train him himself. In WWE World Wrestling Entertainment, (then WWF) he rose through the ranks at lightning speed, first competing as plain old Dwayne Johnson, but in wrestling, to have the crowd behind you, you need them to “get” you. So most pro wrestlers have a ring name.

His first ring name was “Rocky Maivia” a combination of his father and grandfather’s ring names. Despite becoming the youngest intercontinental Champion in WWF history, his audience didn’t dig his smiley, nice guy attitude, chanting “Die Rocky Die” and “Rocky sucks!” in match after match. In a now famous Youtube clip, he said “Rocky Maivia might be a lot of things, but “sucks” isn’t one of them.”

So he stepped out of his nice guy skin and into the trash-talking, swearing, snarling, spitting character he called “The Rock”, and from there styled himself as the “People’s Champion”. They LOVED it! He was HUGE in the world of wrestling, and his new aggressive, intimidating character showed early glimmers of his tremendous showmanship and natural acting ability. Pro wrestling is not just a sport, it is entertainment. It seemed almost just a matter of time before the lure of Hollywood beckoned.

His proud daddy persona in Fast and Furious is real. Here is Dwayne Johnson with his daughter Simone.

His first billings in movies had him billed as Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson; while he was a newcomer to movies, he was certainly no newcomer to fame and success, and he entered tinsel town wholly on his own terms.

He joined the cast of the Fast and Furious franchise in “Fast Five”, their fifth installment, after numerous fans of the series expressed how they would love to see Vin Diesel and The Rock in the same movie. Fast Five had the biggest opening for a Fast and Furious show, grossing over US$86 million in its opening weekend.

His latest Fast and Furious outing, “The Fate of the Furious” opened this April grossing more than US$1.2 billion worldwide, making it the second highest-grossing film of 2017, while it’s opening weekend grossed US$532 million worldwide, making it the highest grossing opening of all time, beating “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” at US$529 million.

Dwayne Johnson is absolutely HUGE. This year, there’s been all kinds of talk of him running for President, rumours which started from a question posed by Caity Weaver for a story by GQ! Magazine. This was picked up by all the news channels and media outlets, and when asked, Dwayne Johnson seemed not only unperturbed but quite warm to the idea. To whether he would consider running, he says “Yeah, of course I would consider it.”

When studying such meteoric personalities and their rise to success, it is always fascinating to take a look at their birth charts. Dwayne Johnson’s chart jumps out with all the ingredients to conjure up a superstar. Firstly, his chart is incredibly well-balanced, with all five elements present. There is no missing element, which means that everything can crystallize for him.

His four Earthly Branches feature the Rat, Dragon, Snake and Rooster. In these four branches, he has all manner of allies, which gains him popularity in any circles he moves in, with help and support coming both directly and indirectly.

His chart features two sets of Allies, with the Rat and Dragon from the Triangle of Competitors, and the Rooster and Snake from the Triangle of Intellectuals. He has the luck to win, and he is smart enough to know how. The good fortune from these combinations are enhanced if he completes the triangles with a Monkey and an Ox. His father Rocky Maivia is a Monkey, and so is his ex-wife Dany Garcia, who remains his close friend, manager and producing partner. His latest venture “Project Rock”, a collaboration with leading sports apparel brand Under Armour features an Ox as its primary logo. His motto here is to chase greatness. He says “We all have hopes, goals, dreams and aspirations, and I’ve officially made it my project to help as many of you get after your goals as possible. Let’s get after it and chase greatness… together.”

His chart also has the Dragon and Snake, which forms the House of Magic, a combination that can manifest miracles. This combination fuels achievement of unbelievable scope, letting one get after goals that seem impossible, making them very possible. And lastly, he also has the Rooster and Dragon secret friend combination, which brings help from unexpected and unseen quarters.

The element of Earth meanwhile represents fame and power in his chart, so taking on the name “The Rock” was a stroke of genius on his part. His name The Rock brings to him powerful rock-solid Earth energy, which manifests fantastic fame and recognition luck, and is exactly what he needs if he really does have aspirations to become President one day. But till then, there’s a ton Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has still in store, with a staggering 26 more movies in the works!
