The year 2023 is the last year of the period of 8 according to the Fei Sin School of Feng Shui (Flying Star). As such, 2024 year of the wood dragon is considered a year of impending change, as all of the stars (both auspicious and inauspicious) are getting ready for a change of energy and location. We will see drastic changes in the luck of our homes, our businesses as well as our individual lives. Homes that used to enjoy good Feng Shui will find changes in their luck. Similarly, homes that had mediocre luck may begin to show signs of increased good fortune.

Horoscope Allies

Many Feng Shui masters everywhere are preparing for this change of period and recommend that the year 2024 is a year in which we need to call on the help of our zodiac friends and allies.

The twelve animals of the zodiac represents the Earthly Branches. Each animal has its own corresponding range of compass directions as well as a corresponding element. Four of the animals are placed on the cardinal compass directions (i.e. North, South, East and West). To find our zodiac allies, what we do is take the animal of the cardinal directions, i.e. (Horse (S), Rooster (W), Rat (N), and Rabbit (E)). Their allies are located 120° from their location. Just refer to the chart on the facing page for further clarification.

In addition, we have another group that consist of four friends. These are the Dragon, the Ox, the Dog, and the Sheep. This group is categorized under the Earth element. Of the 12 zodiac animals, the Dragon is the only celestial animals and cannot be found on earth and so is therefore accredited with special properties. People born under the sign of the Dragon are exceptionally lucky, as they have 4 friends and 1 ally, which gives them an edge in life. Many illustrious men in history have been dragons such as Sigmund Freud, Charles Darwin, Abraham Lincoln, and Martin Luther King.

In addition, it is said that the other 11 zodiac animals have a measure of respect for the dragon. Therefore, it is not wise to anger or be the enemy of those born in the year of the Dragon.

Secret Friends

Your secret friends are those who will help you without you even knowing. Each animal in the horoscope has one secret friend, thus there are six combinations of such friends. These groups are also known as the 6 combinations of the earthly branches.

Check your secret friend from the illustration above, then activate by placing an image of your “secret friend” animal symbol near you.

In addition, we have the 6 clashes of the earthly branches. The animal sign clashing with you is located directly opposite your animal sign in the zodiac wheel (e.g. the Sheep clashes with the Ox). These are people that you should look out for, as it is said that those who are of opposing zodiac signs harbour secret ill feelings towards one another. Although the relationship may start off on a good note, eventually, the inherent attributes of the zodiac signs will follow through and erode the relationship. One of my friends for many years who later turned out to be my worst enemy was born opposing my zodiac sign. Our friendship had started off very well, and we were close friends for many years, but ultimately, our friendship fell apart for reasons that we could not fathom or resolve. Display your allies in your living room as an amulet to ward off bad luck, illness and bad energy. Make sure you carry a small symbol of your ally with you at all times.

Another interesting school, the San He Pai or the Triple Combination School, uses the 12 Zodiac Animals directions to locate the wealth position in one’s home. For example, if you were born in the year of the monkey, your wealth positions are North (Rat) and East-Southeast (Dragon). Each of the combinations is assigned one of the 5 elements. Use the assigned element to energize the chi of that area to bring in plenty of wealth luck. In this case, the element of the combination of Monkey, Dragon and Rat is water, so place a small bowl of bubbling yang water in either the North or East-Southeast corner of your living

Here are some suggestions of items to symbolize the elements. For Water, simply place a small indoor bubbling table top water feature or a small aquarium. For Fire, use a table lamp and keep it turned on all the time. If you need to use the wood element, display a fast growing green leafy plant such as a money plant in one of the 3 locations. Lastly, for the metal element, use heavy metal coins, pots of gold or gold ingots.

This article was written as a response to a question posed to us by one of our customers, and is meant to be informative. I plan on using these practices in 2024 and am convinced of its efficacy. Have fun using Feng Shui always.

Paht Chee is a form of Chinese fortune telling based on one’s date and time of birth. An accurate Paht Chee chart will reveal your lucky and unlucky years, identify which elements are lacking or in excess, and help you uncover clashes that may cause problems in your life, just to name a few. It allows you to make the necessary corrections and minimize the impact of oncoming obstacles, and can even help you manifest some of your greatest desires.

As a Paht Chee Consultant, I have come across clients with all kinds of aspirations but the most popular ones are often related to the pursuit of wealth, so here are 2 simple ways you can boost wealth luck using information from your Paht Chee chart.

You can download your Paht Chee Chart here.

ACTIVATE YOUR WEALTH ELEMENT

The first method is to determine what your wealth element is and to activate it.

Look for the element in the Day Pillar of your Paht Chee chart. This is your self-element. Then, using the chart below, identify your wealth element.

Your Self-Element Your Wealth Element
Metal Wood
Earth Water
Fire Metal
Wood Earth
Water Fire

If METAL is your wealth element, wear colors that represent Metal such as white, purple, gold and silver, or don metal accessories in the form of pendants, chains and bangles. You can also place the White Bucket of Good Fortune on your desk.

If EARTH is your wealth element, wear natural crystal pendants and Dzi bead bracelets. Get the Yellow Bucket of Good Fortune featuring the mandarin orange and pear to capture BIG wealth bonanzas.

If FIRE is your wealth element, wear lots of reds, maroons and pinks. Keep your environment brightly lit or spend some time under the sun to charge up your Fire chi. Having the Red Bucket of Good Fortune on your work desk boosts income and success luck immensely as well.

If WOOD is your wealth element, wear wood beads or pendants made of sandalwood and lotus seeds, or place the Green Bucket of Good Fortune on your desk. Spending time surrounded by nature is also helpful.

If WATER is your wealth element, place small tabletop water features in your living room or the Blue Bucket of Good Fortune on your desk. You can also spend more time near bodies of water such as pools, lakes and the sea.

ENGAGE THE HELP OF YOUR WEALTH ANIMAL

The second method involves harnessing the affinity you have with the animal sign that brings you wealth. To do this, you first need to determine the animal sign that is in the Earthly branch of your Day Pillar. Then, based on the table below, establish what your wealth animal is.

Earthly Branch Animal in Your Day Pillar Animal That Brings You Wealth
Rat Sheep
Ox Monkey
Tiger Rooster
Rabbit Dog
Dragon Boar
Snake Rat
Horse Ox
Sheep Tiger
Monkey Rabbit
Rooster Dragon
Dog Snake
Boar Horse

If the animal sign in your Day Pillar is the Snake, then your wealth animal is the Rat.

Hence, placing images or figurines of Rats on your work desk or in your living space will go a long way towards activating wealth luck for you. Surrounding yourself with images of your wealth animal in the form of jewellery or accessories will also attract all kinds of prosperous energies.

If you want to enhance cash flow, attract windfalls or ease financial concerns, give these easy Paht Chee tips a go!

The Chinese celebrate all 15 days of the first full moon, with special rituals associated with specific days and adorning themselves and their homes with all the auspicious symbols of good fortune. Chinese New Year this falls on the February 12th 2021. This day is the most important day, a day when tradition is best observed as faithfully as possible to ensure that abundance and prosperity follows you through the whole year. Chinese New Year is so important that preparations begins as early as a full month before the new moon appears – new clothes to buy, food to prepare, home repairs to do, flowers to order and altars to clean – everything just to make sure that the house gets a vital spring cleaning and if possible bringing in NEW furniture for the year. The house should also be decorated with lime trees as well as flowering plants before February the 4th in order to introduce added growth energy to the home as 2021 is a year when Chinese New Year occurs after Lap Chun.

THINGS TO DO BEFORE CHINESE NEW YEAR

1. Make Repairs

Families start ensuring everything works in the home from as early as two months prior to New Year. Making repairs to leaking toilets, broken faucets, broken roof tiles, soiled ceilings and so forth are an absolute MUST. Leaking water signifies loss of wealth; broken roof tiles allow bad luck into the home and everything that affects the kitchen or dining room can have a nasty impact on your rice bowl. Other areas that are critical to repair is the area around the main door as well as the Northeast, the Southwest and the Center of the home as these are the sectors that carries the Parent string combination for 2021. Cracked walls and broken doorways can cause serious problems when carried into the New Year.

If you can, you should give your home a fresh coat of paint every 4 – 5 years to ensure that good luck comes continuously after which it is a great idea to put attention to Spring cleaning and this means removing the last year’s “rubbish” and his includes old newspapers, magazines, books, plastic bags, broken containers and clothes you want to throw out.

Also give your cutlery and plates, cups, bowls and serving dishes a once over to remove and replace those that are chipped, cracked or shows signs of damage. Damaged utensils are a sign of broken luck and they bring bad Feng Shui. They affect the prosperity of the family.

Check all the beds to make sure you get a comfortable sleep each night. Sleeping on damaged or broken beds brings obstacles and blockages to everything you try to do. Success gets hindered when the bed frame is damaged. This creates a rift in your business relationships; and they are also bad for your marriage.

Inspect cupboards and drawers and get rid of mismatched socks, torn or thread worn undergarments, shirts, pants and damaged shoes. Dispose of clothes that you have not worn in more than a year. Clearing the cupboard symbolizes removing negative energies and creates space for NEW things to come to you.

2. Restock your Food supplies.

Ensuring your kitchen is well stocked with food and supplies, to welcome the New Year is a vital dimension to the preparation ritual. Starting with your refrigerator, throw out all food, fruits, jams, and expired food. Sift out all expired foodstuffs and clear out old canned meat and dried food. Clean out your rice urn, wash and dry it, then place a red packet with 3 dynasty coins tied with red thread at the base, and fill to the brim with new rice. Keep your rice urn at least three quarters full throughout the 15 days of Chinese New Year.

Next, stock up the refrigerator for the Chinese New Year as it is important there is food in the home to last throughout the 15 days.

UPDATE HOME FENG SHUI!

It is truly beneficial to update the feng shui of your home before Chinese New Year, indeed this year it should be before February 4th which is the start of the solar year. Indeed many observe the traditional method which is to start doing this after the Winter Solstice as this marks the changing of the Tai Sui. The annual 3 Killings are also believed to take effect from this date as well. As for the annual Lo Shu numbers, they take effect on February 4th which is lap chun. If you are planning to reuse your Feng Shui cures, you need to wipe them clean with a damp cloth soaked in cleansing water. But it is always best to use a new CURE. The enhancers can be re used but the remedies absorb bad energies from the past year. Once you have completed updating the Feng Shui of your home, you should perform the space cleansing ritual.

How to prepare Cleansing water.

Flower petals from 5 kinds of flowers (Best if you can get flowers representing the 5 elements – Blue (Water), Yellow (Earth), Green (Wood), Red (Fire), and White (Metal)) and leaves from the Kaffir lime (you can use fresh limes or lemons if you cannot get the Kaffir leaves) and also add sea or rock salt. Soak the above in bowl of water and place them in the sun for 10 minutes before using. Rinse your cleaning cloth in the mixture, squeeze dry then wipe all of your remedies, enhancer, and auspicious good luck charms as well as all symbols of good fortune in your home. You can also use this Water to clean your home altar, and statues.

How to do Space cleansing ritual

Open all your windows and doors, and switch on all the lights. It is best to do this in the daytime. Light Sandalwood incense with Kemenyen, plus 1 tablespoon of Purifying Incense Powder in an incense burner. Chant “NAMA SARVA TATHAGATA AVALOKITE OM SAMBHARA SAMBHARA HUM” when you walk around each room 7 times in a clockwise direction, while visualizing the negative energy coming off your walls. You can also ring the 7 metals ringing bells or stroke the singing bowls for added and enhanced effects. Leave the doors and windows open for at least 1 hour after the ritual to allow good luck energies to permeate the home as the incense dissolves and removes any negativity within the home.

BASKET OF ELEMENTS

The elements of this year’s Paht Chee chart is not in balance, as Fire is missing from the main chart. However, what is fortunate is that although Fire is not in the main chart, it does appear as 2 units of hidden elements to be found in the month pillar of both the Tiger and the Sheep.

This is important, as Fire is not only the element of energy, but it is the foundation chi of which other elements are dependent upon. Fire also represents money and wealth in 2021, and since the hidden elements of Fire appear as a Yin Fire as well as a Yang Fire, this means that the year has both direct and indirect wealth luck occurring around midyear.

As there is surplus Water and Earth, it also means there will be a higher probability of arguments, backstabbing and fighting for power and position, as well as over money. Place some indoor potted plants in your living room and keep your surroundings well lit to help reduce the imbalance of elements.

LACK OF GROWTH ENERGY

The Lunar Year starts after the Lap Chun (February 4th) which means that 2021 is a year that will lack growth energy. However, it is fortunate that since the self-element of the year is strong Yin Water, there are ample resources to help companies recover from the aftermath of the challenges faced during the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020.

Because of the lack of growth energy, businesses will find it difficult to implement expansion plans. While there are enough resources for the recovery process, it is likely that the economies of the world will move sideways with little or no growth indicated in their GDPs.

We recommend that you place the Tree with 3 Kinds of Wealth in the West corner of your living room and the Winning-Chip Talisman on your work desk to strengthen career and business luck, as well as activating for wealth-bringing opportunities. The Ox, Tiger, Horse and Rooster especially should apply these enhancers, as they have heightened chances of increasing their asset wealth substantially this year.

Click here for “Getting the Best from the 2021 Flying Star Chart”.

NEW ALLIANCES, BUT SHORT-LIVED

The Rat in the Hour Pillar teams up with the Ox in the Year Pillar, bringing new alliances and friendships. It can mean that old enemies may even come together for the common good. However, this is made sour by the clash between the Sheep in the Day Pillar and the Ox in the Year Pillar. Alliances will likely be short-lived, and you will see many cases of betrayals and cheating happening. Because the Feng Shui chart of the year also brings the robbery and financial loss star #7 to the Northwest, this means that those born in the year of the Dog and Boar as well as all Patriarchs and owners of companies and businesses need to carry the Anti-Cheating Amulet with Kuan Kung as well as the Kuan Kung on Horseback Anti-Betrayal Amulet.

EXTERNAL FLOWER OF ROMANCE

This year’s chart also has the External Flower of Romance star, which brings about betrayals and infidelity in marriages, so those who are born in years of the Rat, Rabbit and Sheep must carry the Enhancing Relationships Amulet to protect their marriage.

HARNESSING THE LUNAR MANSIONS

Indeed, 2021 will be a year of many surprises with potential rewards for those who can catch the right timing. Big wealth can come to those who get their timing right by carrying their correct Lunar Mansions amulets. It is also that kind of year when you have to focus on the task at hand and not allow your feelings or emotions get the better of you. Years of the Ox always indicate years where hard work and perseverance combined with a little bit of luck pays off.

There are many methods for activating wealth luck in the home. Popular methods include placing water features, wealth gods and three-legged toads in our wealth corners, and creating personalized wealth vases for the household. Complicated methods include creating artificial water flows much like having a stream passing by your home following the correct path.

There is another method based on your Paht Chee chart. With this method, there are 10 elements that represent wealth, which are then divided into two kinds of wealth luck.

Direct wealth luck – This is the money that we gain as a result of work done, bonus and dividends paid for investments, rental income, as well as profits gained from our business. Introductory commissions as well as profits from property sales are all direct wealth.

Indirect wealth luck – This is the money that we gain from speculative investments such as high risk shares, commodities or Forex investments. Winning the lottery or gambling is also considered indirect wealth luck.

Your wealth element is the element that is destroyed by your self-element.

How to Activate your Wealth Element

To activate your wealth element, all you need is to display the required type of wealth element in your living room or on your office desk. You can also have your wealth element outside with windows opened, allowing the wealth chi to flow into your home.

Yin Earth – Display natural crystal geodes such as Gipcite, Amethyst, Citrines, Jade or even a pile of natural river stones, or ceramic statues of wealth gods.

Yang Earth – Crystal windchimes, salt lamps, crystal lamps, crystal chandeliers.

Yin Fire – Dim Lights, red, maroon, orange colours, and moonlight.

Yang Fire – Bright lights, moving or flickering lights, mood lamps and sun light.

Yin Wood – Decorative wood carvings of auspicious objects, wood furniture with lucky symbols. Slow growing indoor plants such as lucky bamboo. Wealth gods carved from wood.

Yang Wood – Flowering and fruiting plants, colourful plants or any plants that are fast growing.

Yin Water – Bowls of water, aquariums, ponds and lakes.

Yang Water – Moving water features, water fountains, waterfalls.

Yin Metal – Metal sculptures with auspicious meanings, brass statues of gods of wealth, wealth pots, wealth baskets, ingots and gold bars.

Yang Metal – Metal windchimes, Pendulum clocks

EXAMPLE 1

A 48 year old gentleman born on 3rd January 1967 living in a double storey link house facing South.

For this gentleman, his self element is Yin Fire. Therefore his direct wealth element is Yin Metal and indirect wealth is Yang Metal. What we can see is that his chart already indicates Yang Metal, which is indirect wealth. Thus it is recommended that he activates his direct wealth element of Yin Metal. It is suggested that he displays a brass statue of 3 Sheep climbing up a mountain in the Southwest corner of his living room, as the Earth energy of the Southwest will further enhance Metal chi. The Southwest is also the location of his secret friend, the Sheep. Do take note that the Sheep’s intrinsic element is Yin Earth.

If he wanted to enhance indirect wealth luck, then he needs Yang Metal. This would mean that he should hang a 6-rod brass windchime in the Northeast corner, which is the direction of the Dog, his astrological ally. The Dog’s intrinsic element is Yang Earth.

EXAMPLE 2

Here is another example of a rich man born on 16th October 1964 living in a Southwest-facing home.

For this gentleman, his self element is Yang Earth therefore his direct wealth is Yang Water and indirect wealth is Yin Water. Since his house is facing Southwest, it was recommended that he erects a Yang Water feature directly in front of his home door. It was also recommended that the waterfall falls 2 times and #2 is the original Lo Shu number for the southwest. In the 4 years since he erected this water feature, his business expanded 5 times their annual sales volume.

There are 5 things in life that as humans we wish to have. These are good health, wealth, a progressive career, a loving marriage and good descendants. When someone has all 5 their life is deemed complete and we can see this in their chart as well.

In my last article, we talked about a balanced basket of elements, and by that we mean that your Paht Chee chart should possess all five elements, and if possible, to have them in fairly equal quantities. God is always fair, so when your chart is balanced and all five elements are present, you will possess the five desirable things in life.

Your overall heaven luck fluctuation will be minimal. This means that when you go through an unlucky period, you will never be very unlucky. But likewise, when you go through a lucky period, good luck is also average. People who lack one of the five things in life are likely to have incomplete charts with missing elements, and they are also likely to have various clashes in their chart.

Over the past six months, I have been seeing many cases of people looking for love and romance, and somehow not being able to succeed in finding someone suitable to settle down with. This is what inspired me to write about this topic at this time.

When someone engages me to read their Paht Chee chart and asks me about their love luck, here are the things I will be looking for, as to have more than one of these afflictions in one’s chart is a sure indication of difficulty finding a soul mate.

We start by looking at the basket of elements to see if there are any missing elements. Missing elements MUST be introduced and activated if one wishes to improve one’s luck. The next thing to look at are the earthly branches to see if the chart has any “self clashes”.

When self clashing animals are found in Year and Day, this indicates that you will have a severe lack of progress and self-confidence in finding a soul mate. The problem lies in you giving up on a potential relationship easily when problems arise. There is also difficulty opening up your heart and giving trust to your potential partner. If the self clashing animals are found in Year and Hour, this is not as drastic a clash, but indicates difficulty taking the relationship that important step further into marriage.

We also need to see if the person’s chart has the “Unhappiness Star”, as having this star means that this person carries hidden baggage and burdens on their spirit and emotions.

If the Unhappiness Star is found in the Month pillar, this means that unhappiness stems from relationship issues with parents and possibly parent in-laws. If it is found in the Day pillar, then this is a clear indication that they carry a secret unhappiness from a prior relationship that affects all future relationships. If it is found in the Hour pillar, then unhappiness stems from their children.

A Critical Clash Known As The 2 Penalty Affects Marriage Luck. This Clash Is Between The Rat And Rabbit.

If you possess either the Rat or Rabbit in the Day Pillar, this brings a strong potential for marital difficulties and afflictions in getting married. If the other animal appears in the year pillar, then it means that you will clash with your spouse and there will be severe difficulties in marrying. If the other animal appears in the 10 year luck pillars, then it means that all romantic relationships in that 10-year period will be unlikely to succeed. If it appears in the annual years, and you are going through an unlucky period, then you could either break-up or get divorced that year.

A strong self-element is another indication of difficulty in getting married

Someone with an excessively strong self-element is usually disliked or difficult to get along with, making it hard for such a person to find a partner. They could also tend to complain and find fault a lot.

The Peach Blossom Animals are the Rooster, Rabbit, Horse and Rat.

To have 1 or 2 of these animals in your earthly branches is a clear indication of personal magnetism. This is because the Peach Blossom animals are also known as the animals of love. The problem comes when you have 3 or 4 of these animals in your chart, as you will be known as someone who is too popular and flirty for their own good.

Here is a chart of a lady in her 40’s that has endless troubles in settling down with someone.

Her chart is lacking Metal and Wood, but there is excessive Fire. Her self-element of Yang Fire is weak as there is no Wood to sustain her 4 Fire. Furthermore, there is no Metal to provide self-confidence and a self-identity for her. Having so much Fire in her chart means that her personality is very fiery and ever-changing; thus we can deduce that this person can be quite flighty and ever changing in her opinions, likes and dislikes.

On the earthly branch, we see the Horse self penalty between the Hour and Year pillars, indicating clear difficulty settling down. Furthermore, the chart has the Unhappiness Star which appears as the Dragon in the month pillar. This means that emotional baggage stems from her parents. It may be possible that her parents had an unhappy marriage or got divorced.

I suggested a simple solution to this lady, which was that she needed to introduce Metal chi into her life. This she can do by wearing more gold jewellery or by wearing colours that represent Metal element energy (White, Purple, Gold , Silver).

I also suggested that she place 6 dynasty coins tied with red string under her pillow. Wood is important to keep her Fire energy strong, so she should place some live indoor plants in her living room, and spend some time in the garden in the mornings to absorb both the fresh Wood chi as well as to get some morning sunlight.

She should also wear a pendant of the Sheep, as this happens to be her secret friend and will distract the two horses in her chart from causing her problems.

This is a gentleman in his 30’s that is unlucky in love.

His chart is missing Fire with excessive Metal. His self-element of Yang Metal is also excessively strong. Here is someone who has a strong personality, who is quite stubborn and very rigid in his beliefs. The lack of Fire indicates someone who is very boring as Fire brings lively, changing energy, and lack of it the opposite. This person is likely to be the type that dislikes intellectual discussions, as he thinks his way is the only way to follow and that he is always right.

In the earthly branch, we see the Rat in the Day pillar, and this means that if he encounters the Rabbit in the 10 year luck pillars, or when it comes to the year of the Rabbit, it is likely that his relationship would end or at least meet up with severe difficulties. He told me that his last long relationship ended in April 1999, which was the Month and Year of the Rabbit.

Furthermore, he has 3 Peach Blossom animals in his chart. He has the Rooster in the Hour and Year pillars, and the Rat in the Day pillar. Because there are too many, these three animals make it really difficult for him to find someone who will readily trust him with their heart.

The solution to his problem was quite complex, as first we need him to enhance Fire chi, as well as to solve the Rat appearing in his Day Pillar and to control the double Rooster in his chart. I suggested that he wear an article of clothing each day that is red, as this is the colour of Fire. He also needs to spend more time in the Sun.

Next, he needs to have the influence of the Ox, the secret friend of the Rat. Carrying or wearing a pendant of the Ox will bring him the luck of harmonious relationships and furthermore, the Ox is an ally of the Rooster, which will reduce the effects of the double Rooster in his chart causing distractions and self-doubt.

A Paht Chee analysis of your date of birth can be very helpful for finding answers to what can happen in your life. Apart from providing analysis on your career and wealth potential, and marriage prospects, it can also be used to help us understand our physical health condition. When used properly, we are able to better implement preventative measures to improve our health and strengthen our body.

The philosophy within Paht Chee is very similar to that used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The 5 elements of Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood and Water are the basic components of the universe and hence, our body is also composed of the 5 elements. Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on the 5 vital organs and this can be associated to the 5 elements. In addition, other body parts are also connected to one of the elements, as described in the chart below.

We need to have a good balance of the 5 elements in order to have good health. So if your chart has all 5 elements in balanced quantities, it can be said that you will have perfect good health. When there is imbalance, sickness will occur.

Let us say someone has 4 units of Metal in their chart and is missing Water. This means that Metal goes out of control since Water is missing. Since the vital organ associated with Metal are the Lungs, this could mean some kind of lung disease such as infections or even lung cancer. Water on the other hand represents the Kidney, and since Water is missing, it indicates there could be poor kidney function. Of course, the elements of the Ten Year Luck Pillars as well as the annual element of the current year will also play a part in affecting this person’s likelihood of getting lung or kidney disease.

In addition, we also need to see the relationships of elements in the heavenly stems, and this gives us more insight into the functional relationships among the various organs in your body. This then gives us the ability to trace the origins or root cause of sickness in the body.

The relationship of animals in the Earthly Branches can also indicate potential problems.

The above two tables provide us with the relationships between the various parts of the body, and this is most importantly seen in the Day Pillar of your chart. For example, if your heavenly stem is Yang Water and the Earthly Branch is Dragon, then we have Earth destroying Water. This indicates that your bladder functions are weak, which will affect your skin. Furthermore, there is a possibility of varicose veins in your legs, as this is also a function of your bladder function. There are possibilities of keliods in the skin around your chest area, and this becomes more pronounced if there is excessive Earth in your chart.

In addition to using Paht Chee, here are 3 effective methods to protect your health and strengthen your immunity.

1 SLEEP AT THE RIGHT TIME

According to the Chinese, the 24 hours that we have each day is governed by the 12 zodiac animals. Each animal takes care of 2 hours, thus giving us 12 time slots of 2 hours each. The day starts with the animal sign of the Rat and this corresponds to 11pm – 1.00am in the morning. It has been common practice in the Chinese culture that we should all be in bed asleep during this time period as it is during these 2 hours that our body carries out its daily maintenance and repairs. If you sleep late, this means that your body has little or no time at all to carry out proper maintenance and repair, thus leading to premature aging, and reduced resistance to illness.

2 HAVE DINNER BEFORE NINE

The Chinese also believe that our last meal of the day should be at least 2 hours before the start of the following day. This means that you should not eat any solid food after 9.00pm. This allows our stomach to do its job properly by passing on any solid food that we have eaten into our intestines for proper digestion. When you eat late, this means that not all of the food eaten is passed into the intestines and thus will go bad in the stomach. This leads to increased bloating, gas and other digestive ailments. It also allows for an imbalance in the intestinal flora, allowing unwanted bacteria to flourish.

3 NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST

Breakfast is not only our first meal of the day, it should be a complete and balanced meal that provides our body with all of the required daily nutrients. The most ideal time for having breakfast is within the hour of the Dragon, which is between 7.00am – 9.00am. Try your best to not to skip eating breakfast.

A PAHT CHEE HEALTH ANALYSIS: What he desperately needs is Wood element energy…

We can see from his chart that he has excessive Water and he is missing Wood. Thus, we know that Wood is what is needed in order to create balance in his chart. The Water element is indicative of the Kidney, and relates to the Thymus gland, tonsils, lymph nodes and bone marrow. When Water is excessive, his body’s natural immunity and toxin cleansing systems are on hyper drive. This of course can lead to many medical disorders such as Sarcoidosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s as well as a wide range of sickness caused by an overactive immunity response.

When we look at his Day Pillar, the heavenly stem here is Yin Water, further strengthened by the Yin Metal of the Rooster in the earthly branch. When you refer to the two tables, you will see that Yin Metal deals with the lungs, and the Rooster deals with the intestines and blood. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view, this would mean that his lungs are overly strong, which weakens the intestines and also affects his blood. This combination further enhances the indication of immunity disorder, as the lungs are also very closely linked into the body’s general immune system. We can say that this health condition is one he was genetically born with, which can only be helped with the addition of Wood element.

When you look at his 10 Year Luck Pillars, you will notice that Wood element appears in the early years and ends when he past age 30. Once that Wood element is gone, his Parkinson’s Disease set in and progressively got worse. However, remember that he has a full set of allies (Ox, Snake, Rooster) and his secret friend the Rat to help protect him. When we see the following two luck pillars, they are governed by the Ox (age 31- 40) and the Rat (age 41 – 50) which of course bring him divine assistance, and help slow down the progression of his disease.

His current age of 54 means that he is about to end the first half of the next luck pillar, which has Yin Fire and Yin Water Boar. We know that his run of helpful good luck is coming to an end, and we see it in his acting career, where in 2013 and 2014 he appears only minimally. It is indeed sad, but based on his Paht Chee reading, it looks very much like we will continue to see less and less of him on the cinema screen as his Parkinson’s overcomes his health.

When you begin reading a Four Pillars chart, the first and most important step is to tabulate the number of elements found in the chart. After doing that, we look for hidden elements found in the month pillar followed by elemental combinations found in the heavenly stems. Next, we look for animal sign combinations in the earthly branches to further find any resultant hidden elements. Once we have added all hidden elements to the original basket of elements, it becomes much easier to identify the strength of one’s self-elements as well as what elements are deemed lucky or unlucky.

There are two very important criteria that must be met in one’s Four Pillars chart in order to be lucky. The key word here is balance. And by balance we mean that your self-element must not be too weak nor too strong. Ideally, your self-element should be marginally weak or marginally strong.

The second important criterion is that we should have a balanced basket of elements. All 5 elements should be present, and ideally in equal quantities. So what to do when our Four Pillars chart does not match the required criterion? The answer is simple. We can enhance the presence of the beneficial elements by the colours we wear. Or we can surround ourselves with those beneficial elements. If Fire is an element that we lack or require, we can wear an article of clothing that is orange, or any shade of red to introduce the said element. Fire chi can also be introduced by spending some time in the sun on a daily basis. Below is a table that you can refer to for what colours represent what element, and what activities we can do to introduce said element to our daily lives.

Beneficial elements can also come into your life when it appears in your 10 year luck pillars or from the elements of the day. Let us look at an example of how elements of the day, month and year can benefit and enhance one’s luck.

MARIAH CAREY launches Las Vegas Show at Caesar’s Palace

Does this herald the return of one of Pop’s Great Divas? Can she put her recent troubles behind her?

Mariah Carey has one hidden element of Fire, which comes from the Rabbit and Dog secret friend combination. Her self-element of Yang Fire is deemed slightly weak, which means that both Fire and Wood elements are her favourable elements. However, when you look at all her elements, you realize that in order to create balance, we need to have Metal, Wood and Water, as there is an excess of Earth and Fire in her chart.

Because her self-element is weak Fire, she must always have Wood or Fire in order to be strong enough to actualize her luck. Yet Metal and Water that weaken Fire are needed to create balance. She should thus have Wood together with Metal or Water in order to manifest good fortune luck. Fire, although her fortunate element, is not needed, as there is ample Fire.

We see a clash of Yang Water with Yang Fire, and this is between the hour and day pillars. This can mean difficulty in having children as well as problems on the marriage front. In the earthly branches, we have the Dragon directly clashing with the Dog, which indicates big mental and emotional stress. Depression may be one of the things that affect her, because this clash is between the hour and year pillars. Indeed, if you read her biography, you will find that family love as well as marital love has always been a problem area, and that depression is a constant companion.

However, she is fortunate because the other two animal signs are helpful. So although there are emotional problems that plague her life, for the most part she is able to rise above them. Her secret friend the Rabbit helps the most by giving her plenty of unexpected good luck and happy events. The Horse is her ally, thus also lending help.

Her career started with the launch of her first album in 1990 in the year of the Metal Horse. This was in the period of her life governed by Yin Fire and Yin Earth Ox. Although the Earth of the Ox in the Ten Year Pillars created obstacles, the Fire energy of the Horse being her ally, together with the Metal of the year was enough to give her 4 top 10 singles from her first album.

Mariah Carey with ex-husband Tommy Mottola, Head of Columbia Records.

In the same luck pillar, we see another happy moment when she married Tommy Mottola, her then manager at Columbia Records. 1993 was another good year with the Water Rooster bringing balance. This marriage did not last long however, and with aggravated problems in 1997, a Fire Ox year (where Fire and Earth created severe imbalance), they divorced the following year in 1998, an Earth Tiger year (the Tiger completes the Horse, Dog, Tiger assembly and created peace).

In 2000, two years after the divorce, a Metal Dragon year, we have the Dragon creating self doubt and emotional turmoil for Mariah. She was admitted into hospital under psychiatric observation in July 2001 the year of the Metal Snake. In fact, this ten year period of age 27 – 36 was not terribly productive for her on the musical front, mainly due to the Rat from the Ten Year Luck Pillars clashing with the Horse in her spouse pillar. These ten years also made her very vulnerable emotionally.

Mariah Carey married rapper artist Nick Cannon in 2008 when she entered her Wood Boar pillar.

Once she turned 37 and entered the next pillar of the Wood Boar, she blossomed as her chart became more balanced. She married actor/rapper Nick Cannon in 2008 (Earth Rat) after a whirlwind romance of two months. The marriage was rumoured to be rocky for over the next two years. In 2010, a Metal Tiger year, fortune smiled on her when they had a second honeymoon when she finally got pregnant and gave birth to twin Moroccan and Monroe. Unfortunately, the year after the twins were born was the year of the Water Dragon, which reopened old wounds. Although the years after that were beneficial, she finally divorced Nick Cannon in August 2014, a Wood Horse year.

On 8th January 2015, she was seen walking into the offices of Caesar’s Palace. She had been offered a residency deal to perform at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace at an enormous offer. Interestingly enough, the day she signed the contract was an extremely lucky one for her, as the Monkey and Rat nullified the effects of the Dragon in her chart, bringing plenty of Wood and Fire together with Water and Metal – all elements she needed.

Preparing for Chinese New Year 2020

Chinese New Year marks the beginning of a brand new year, and is regarded by all Chinese as the most important festival to be celebrated. Preparations for this celebration begins as long as 30 days before the start of the Lunar New Year, which is filled with many rituals and important actions to prepare one’s home for the coming new year. This year is especially important as 2020 marks the start of a brand new decade, but more, it also marks the beginning of a brand new cycle, led by the animal sign of the RAT.

Here are the most important things you need to take note of as you prepare for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Time to Repair and Replace!

At least 60 days before Chinese New Year, you should inspect every corner of your home for cracks on the walls and floors, and especially look for signs of any water leakages. Water damage or water leakages going into the New Year can seriously affect the well-being of family members.

It is important that any water leak, especially leaking faucets, sinks and toilets are repaired, as leaking water in one’s home means “loss of money and unnecessary expenditure”.

You should also consider giving your home a new coat of paint, as doing so means you go into the New Year with a home with fresh new energy.

Ensure that every nook and cranny including behind cupboards, refrigerators, and tops of cupboards are completely swept and cleaned to remove dust and stale energy from the previous year. This is a good time to toss out old magazines, newspaper, unnecessary plastic containers, plastic bags and other items you would never use. While you are cleaning out old trash, keep an eye out for furniture that needs repair or refurbishment.

After you have completed cleaning and repairs, move on to the furniture, sofa sets, tables, chairs and other fixtures; inspect and clean these as well. Sofa sets that are torn or damaged should be repaired or replaced. Inspect your dining table and chairs. They should be in a good state, as the dining table represents the rice bowl of the family. Remove and replace chairs that are broken or rickety.

You must also not forget the bed, as the condition of your bed will play a big part in how the coming year will pan out for you. Sleeping on a damaged or broken bed brings obstacles and obstructions into your life. If the bed frame is cracked or damaged, it can cause rifts in your relationships, and bodes badly for husband and wife.

Inspect the cutlery, plates, cups, bowls and serving dishes you use. Replace any with chips, cracks or that show other signs of damage. Eating using damaged utensils is VERY BAD FENG SHUI! Doing so will hinder your progress in your career and affect the prosperity of the family.

Inspect the contents of your cupboards and clothes drawers, dispose of mismatched socks, torn or thread-worn undergarments, shirts and pants. Give away clothes that you have not worn in more than a year because you didn’t like the colour or design. Clearing out your cupboard not only symbolizes removing bad luck, but also creates the kind of luck that makes room for new things to come into your life. Do the same thing for your shoe cupboard.

Cleaning Your Home Altar

Start by asking the deities for permission to clean, then remove the images and figurines. Make sure you place them on a table that is at least waist high. Never place them on the floor.

Wipe or brush off loose debris, then proceed to wipe all surfaces of your altar clean with water and pomelo leaves (you can also use kaffir lime leaves if you prefer.) You should also replace damaged or worn out items on your altar, and clean out incense burners, candle holders and other offering bowls.

Once you are done cleaning your altar, make a complete set of offerings to your home deities and ensure you have ample supplies of incense, candles and other prayer supplies.

When you are done cleaning and restocking your altar, it is a good idea to perform a simple incense space cleansing for your home. You can do this by lighting up kemenyen or sandalwood incense, then walk around each room 3 times in a clockwise direction, all the while picturing the incense cleansing and removing any stale or negative energy.

Visualize a home filled with laughter, happiness and good luck while you are doing this.

You can also chant the incense offering mantra:-
NAMA SARVA TATHAGATA AVALOKITE OM SAMBHARA SAMBHARA HUM (x21)

Restock Your Kitchen

The kitchen is the powerhouse of your home. This is where families are brought together through the simple process of eating the fruits of their mother’s labour. Ensuring your kitchen is well-stocked with food and supplies is of utmost importance. Start by inspecting your refrigerator – toss out vegetables, fruits, jams, half-open cans and leftover food that is unwanted or expired.

Clean out your rice urn and after washing and drying it well, place a red packet with 3 Chinese coins tied with red thread at the base, and fill to the brim with rice.

Remember that your Rice Urn Must Be Kept At Least ¾ Full All Through the 15 Days of Chinese New Year.

Next, you should stock up your fridge in preparation for Chinese New Year as it is important that you cross over to the New Year with lots of things to eat at home.

Eve of Chinese New Year – Family Reunion Dinner – Friday 24th Jan 2020

In the morning, you should prepare a “tray of togetherness” which is simply a special box filled with an assortment of sweets, biscuits, melon seeds, candies and oranges for any guest that drops by during the 15 days of celebration.

The actual dinner itself is for all members to come together as a sign of togetherness and prosperity. A typical reunion dinner should have a minimum of 8 dishes and comprise the following ingredients, based on their symbolic meanings.

  • Luo Han Zhai (Buddha’s delight) – a vegetarian dish made with “Fatt Choy” (a type of black hair fungus – means prosperity)
  • Bamboo Shoots (brings wealth)

Throughout Southeast Asia, it has become common practice to select a lucky day for getting married, for moving house and for other important activities. Different cultures use slightly different methods for date selection.

Indian astrologers derive suitable dates by referring to the person’s date, time and place of birth, and then checking the positions of the stars. The Thai people use a similar method but they refer to the Thai solar calendar (Suriyakhati) whereby suitable dates are dependent on the animal sign under which you were born, as well as what day were you born on. The Balinese people refer to their Balinese calendar (Pawukon Calendar) where there are fixed dates that are suitable for various activities. The Tibetan Calendar lists days suitable for cutting hair, consulting the doctor, signing contracts, conducting religious activities as well as other important events. The Chinese refer to the Almanac, otherwise known as the 1000-Year calendar. Each of these methods tells of suitable activities for the day, where some methods have a direct correlation to the person’s year of birth, while others are more general.

Another method, not as widely used, applies Paht Chee in the selection of lucky dates. Each day, according to the Almanac calendar, has a heaven stem element as well as an animal sign that rules the day. For each person, there are then five kinds of unsuitable dates that should be avoided.

Direct Conflict Days

This is the animal sign that is in direct conflict with your own animal sign. It is believed that getting married, starting a new business, beginning renovation or construction on this day will bring obstacles and misfortune.

Side Conflict Days

These are days that are in side conflict with you, and although not very unlucky, starting up a new enterprise on such days may reduce your chances of success due to added obstacles and unforeseen problems.

Self Penalty Days

Such days are also best avoided when signing important contracts or for the grand opening of your business. The self penalty day brings self doubt and insecurity, thus blocking your way.

Aggression Days

These are days that bring you 3 kinds of misfortune. The formula is derived from the conflict of elements of the Tai Sui element of your animal sign being in conflict with the element of the season. Such days are very unsuitable for getting married or for signing business contracts; they bring severe disharmony and arguments.

Killing Days

Such days bring killing energy. Nothing can succeed. Promotions and marketing campaigns held on such days will not work out well. If you undergo a serious medical procedure on this day, the treatment may be risky, or there could be complications. If you conceive on this day, you could have relationship issues or problems with your child.

Good Days

These are excellent days for doing anything, as they are governed by either your ally or secret friend. Thus there will be harmony, good energy and plenty of help given by them. Cutting your hair on such days represents cutting away bad luck and obstacles; and bringing good new beginnings.

Neutral Days

These are days when the energy of heaven does not disturb you. All success will depend on your own efforts as there is no added luck, but neither is there any added misfortune.

Fine-tuning Your Lucky Days

So far, we have only been looking at the Earthly Branch of the day; we have not looked at the Heavenly Stem elements yet. To further fine-tune your luck for say getting married or for moving house, or for signing business contracts or for registering your new business, you should locate the fortunate elements that are lucky for you based on your individual Paht Chee and then select a day that has the heavenly stem element being very lucky for you.

BUT BEWARE WEDDINGS THAT OCCUR BECAUSE THE DATE IS “TOO GOOD”!

What is interesting to note is that on good days when the heavenly stem elements match a couple’s Paht Chee chart, even the most unlikely couple may end up getting married. Here we have three examples of such couples who have admitted that their decision to get married was not right, and some even said that they were out of their mind; yet they got married, only to get divorced soon thereafter!

In first place, we have the unlikely joining of Britney Spears (born 2nd December 1981) and Jason Allen Alexander (born October 1981). When we look further, we find that Britney Spears is strong wood, where her beneficial elements are fire, earth and metal. Jason is weak fire, where his beneficial element is water, wood and fire.

These two Roosters got married on the 3rd of January 2004 when the heavenly stem was yin metal and the animal sign was the Snake. What we see here is that both Jason and Britney each have 2 Peach Blossom animals, which indicate that both potentially have very high romance energy meeting up on a day where the animal sign of the year, month and day are good or neutral days for them. It is believed that when both couple has high romance energy that the marriage is unlikely to last and thus this is never considered a recommended match. Indeed, the marriage lasted only 2 days before they annulled the marriage, saying it was a joke carried too far.

In second place, we have Carmen Electra (Tara Leigh Patrick) born 20th April 1975 and Dennis Rodman born 13th May 1961. Carmen Electra is a Rat and likely weak metal. Thus her beneficial elements would be earth and metal. Dennis Rodman is an Ox and weak Fire, with wood being a likely beneficial element.

They decided to get married very quickly on 14th November 1998, which was the day of the Wood Ox, a suitable day for both of them. The only problem being both are born with the Dragon in the month pillars, which can lead to a serious case of self doubt for both of them, and indeed, 9 days later, they decided to annul the marriage, only to change their mind and work things out. After a few more times changing their minds back and forth, they finally got divorced 6th April 1999.

The 3rd case is Mario Lopez (born 10th October 1973) and Ali Landry (born 21st July 1973). Both Mario and Ali are Ox, and both are also strong earth, with beneficial elements being metal, water and wood.

Both were dating 8 months before they decided to tie the knot on 24th April 2004. This being a water Rooster day, both element and animal sign was excellent for both parties. However, when you look at their charts, collectively, they have the Ox, Sheep and Dog over the year and month, forming the Earth triple penalty, which is extremely bad for both of them, since they are both strong earth.

So long as they were not bound to each other, the penalty did not apply, but once they were married, it caused severe problems for both, leading to their divorce only a short 2 weeks later, when Ali claimed inconsolable differences.

What we can conclude from these three examples is that although the energy of a good day can cause a dating couple to mutually agree to getting married, it still is the final compatibility of their Paht Chee charts that matters most when it comes to the durability of their nuptial bonds.
