TAPPING HEALTH DIRECTION CORRECTLY

QMy close friend recently underwent surgery and chemo for lung cancer. I was reading Lillian’s old book about using the rice cooker to tap his Tien Yi direction. He was born in 1959 and his Tien Yi is West. The problem is that rice cookers nowadays don’t have the same sites for pressing the cooker on as the wire that brings in the power. I don’t understand how to position his Tien Yi direction. Is it the one with the ON button facing West or the wire that brings in source of energy that needs to face West? I don’t want to make his illness worse by not being sure how to do it. Many thanks.

A So sorry to hear about your friend. I hope he is doing OK. To position his rice cooker correctly, it is the energy source that is important. So the direction of the wall with the powerpoint (when you stand looking at the wall) should be to your West. So that the energy that is drawn from the powerpoint to cook the rice comes from the West. You can also position his bed with head pointed to the West to tap his Tien Yi sleeping direction.

It is greatly beneficial to call on the help on Medicine Buddha. He is the Buddha who has made a vow to help all who call upon him when severely ill. Your friend can invite him into the home, better yet to learn up his mantra and recite regularly:

TADYATHA OM BHEKHANDZYE BHEKHANDZYE MAHA BHEKHANDZYE (BHEKHANDZYE) RADZA SAMUGATE SOHA

THE ART OF PLACEMENT

Q What direction should I place items to attract love, happiness, joy, protection, fortune and so on?

A Good fortune symbols placed anywhere within the home attract the kind of energy they exude, so there is no “wrong” placement of any enhancer items.

But different sectors bring different kinds of luck depending on the influence of the visiting stars. The most acutely felt energies are those brought by annual flying stars, which is why at the start of each year, it is important to be mindful where the different stars have flown, to fix unlucky stars, and to activate good fortune bringing ones.

So a quick answer to your question – To activate for love this year, place love energizers in the North. For general happiness, place wealth energisers in the center sector of the home. For protection, wear sacred syllables of carry the 15 Hums Protection Wheel. Place cures for the #7 star in the SE and for the #5 star in the SW. Good luck!

POSITIONING OF PIANO

QI recently moved my son’s piano from his bedroom (NW) to the living room located near the main door (after the shoe cabinet, facing the South wall). Kindly advise.

A Pianos anywhere in the home create fabulous yang energy and are just so wonderful. BUT, this year in 2019, the South sector plays host to the #3 Quarrelsome Star, and so too much noise and activity here will cause disharmony within the household. If the piano gets played regularly, and you are finding family members fighting with either each other or with others more frequently than usual, it may be a good idea to move the piano out of the South, just for this year.

Good sectors for the piano in 2019 would be East, North, the Center or West.

It is also beneficial for the piano to be positioned such that when your son sits at the piano to play, he is facing one of the four directions that are lucky for him. (Check what these are by finding out his KUA number). This will bring him much success in his piano studies and help him make beautiful music.

TROUBLESOME CO-WORKER

QI sit next to my co-worker who got hired a year ago. Everybody is blaming me for everything since she got hired. I can’t quit because I am too old to look for another job. It feels like she put a curse on me to be hated by everyone. Please help! It’s draining my energy every day at work! Thank you.

A Office politics is probably the most unpleasant thing to have to endure. Your best bet is to arm yourself against projectiles of this kind by firstly getting yourself a robust Rooster and placing on your work desk – this removes the harmful element of the gossip. Secondly, don’t play into this co-worker’s hands; make your own allies in the office.

While it is never nice to have to get pulled into someone else’s office intrigues, when you become the target, you have to fight back! The Luohan with Crab is an excellent symbol to display for this purpose.

You can also get yourself Red Tara’s Home Protection Amulet – carry in your bag or place on your desk. Having Red Tara’s support wins you friends and allies and improves relationships with all you interact with. Don’t let a new kid on the block make you lose your shine; work hard to get it back!

NEEDING FUNDS TO STUDY

QI am a local college student studying for my Diploma in Accounting. I am looking forward to further my degree studies in Australia next year, but my financial situation is not strong enough to support me in my tertiary education. I really hope I have an opportunity to study overseas. My animal sign is Dragon, born in year 2000.

A Good luck in your studies. I strongly believe that if one wants something badly enough, is prepared to work for it, and stays very, very focused, one can achieve just about anything. Luck plays a factor but first you have to put in the hard work. For a student – make sure your results are stellar, then spend time and effort looking for possible scholarships to apply for. You already know your family cannot afford an overseas education for you, so you have to work to find the funds yourself.

Get yourself a wealth amulet, or the Sage on Tiger, who represents scholastic accolades but also honours and scholarship. Wishing you all the best.

CAN’T MAKE A DECENT LIVING

QAs long as I have been working, I have not had enough money for a decent life. I do not look for millions, only to live on my wages, and they are miserable. What can I do to improve my money luck and get more money? I am born 23rd Sept 1965.Thanks in advance!

A You’re a Wood Snake, and unfortunately for the Snake, this is a challenging year. You play host to the Loss Star in your sector, so money luck gets afflicted. You can carry the Good Fortune Lock Amulet to mitigate losses, but if you have dreams to make big money, it is unlikely to be anytime this year. Things improve in 2020 when better flying stars arrive for you.

This year the advice would be – work at making connections and widening your network. Opportunities open up next year but you can start laying the groundwork now.

Don’t fall for get-rich-quick schemes or be tempted to leave a stable job for a higher-paying unstable one. Your luck will not hold, and you could end up losing a lot more than you gain.

To boost money luck, get yourself the Wealth Bull. The bull is your astrological ally, and this sacred bull will help you make smart decisions for your financial well-being and future.

FENG SHUI TERMINOLOGY

Q What’s 5 Yellow and 3 Killings? How do I counter the misfortune stars? What NOT to do to avoid it?

A The Five Yellow and Three Killings are feng shui afflictions that need to be addressed as a matter of course – otherwise they have the ability to wreak all kinds of havoc in your life. These afflictions change location each year, which is why at the start of every year it is so important to update one’s feng shui.

In 2019, the Five Yellow flies to the SW and you need to place the Tri-coloured Five Element Pagoda here. Don’t “activate” this part of the home with too much activity – and certainly no renovations, digging, knocking etc here.

The Three Killings moves to the West – place the 3 Celestial Guardians here, and make sure you DO NOT SIT WITH WEST BEHIND YOU this year. Ie. Don’t face East this year, even if it is one of your “lucky” directions.

MONTH, YEAR OR DAY STAR? WHICH TO FOLLOW?

Q Should I follow the monthly star or yearly star or daily star of the feng shui diary? Say I purchase the victory banner? It is said to be placed at the West in the year of 2019 but if the monthly star says place in the southwest, which one should I follow? And when should I start placing the feng shui items for year 2019?

A The flying stars with the most influence are the annual stars, which is why it is so important to update your feng shui at the start of each year when the yearly stars change direction. Place all your cures and enhances according to the annual stars. The monthly stars change from month to month, and if you want to “capture the good luck” or mitigate transient bad luck, then take note of these as well.

For monthly stars, the most important stars to take note of are the #3 and the #5. Especially the #3. Often, if the monthly #3 quarrelling star flies into a sector you use a lot, or flies into your main door sector, you will find yourself arguing with people, people picking fights with you for no reason, and petty household bickering between family members can arise much more frequently. To fix this, display a pair of Red Apple.

GOOD & BAD CUTTING HAIR DAYS

Q I appreciate learning about the good and bad days to cut hair. I have two questions. First, does this cover all types of hair removal (such as shaving)? Second, should the timing be corrected for the country one lives in (such as correcting for Pacific Daylight Time in the US)? Thank you!

A No, you can shave any day because shaving is a daily grooming exercise. This calendar applies more to proper hair trims and haircuts, especially those that involve using scissors. And no, you don’t have to adjust for time zone. Follow your own time zone.

SAME GENDER RELATIONSHIP

Q Dearest Aunt Agga, For sure you’re not new to a same sex relationship. I am bi-sexual and dating a handsome man older than me. Based on my astrological sign, I was born in the Year of the Dragon and he is a Boar. Is there possible feng shui to be applied so I can have him forever? Based on his animal sign, what can I expect from a Boar? Would he be too playful? I hope you can help me, I feel that he cares for me too, but the thing is, I get deeply hurt whenever he goes along and play with others. Please advise.

A The Dragon and Boar are not especially compatible, but neither are they incompatible. In 2019, the Boar is energetic and the Dragon has the Loss Star. If this Boar is “playful” like you say, chances of him straying are high, and perhaps there is nothing you can do to change that. If his infidelity hurts you, may be best to look for another relationship.

HOW TO HANG THE WISHFULFILLING BIRD

Q If you want to put birds with a rolled-up dollar bill in its mouth, where do you place them? Do you hang them right inside your door flying into your home or do you hang them right outside the door facing inward?

A You can hang the wish-fulfilling bird either just inside or just outside your front door. Either will work. But if you are going to put a rolled-up dollar bill in its mouth to symbolise money coming to you, make sure the bird is flying INTO your home, not the other way around.

If you want your bird to help you fulfill wishes, write your wish (as specifically as you can), roll up the note and place it in the bird’s mouth, then hang the bird flying AWAY from the home to the outside world. So the bird takes your wishes into the cosmos, which will then work its magic for you.

WANTING A BABY

Q My husband is a Horse and I’m a Snake sign. We’ve been together for 7 years and until now, I have not managed to get pregnant. What shall I do? Thanks.

A Have you tried energizing your West sector? This is the sector for Children and Descendants Luck. Light up the West of your living room, place pomegranate and a pair of elephants here. Best of all is to call on the help of the Fertility Tara. She is the Tara that grants your wishes for children and to start a family. Invite her into your home and make offerings to her daily.

WHICH WAY TO PLACE ROLLED-UP MANTRA

Q I bought the large Tri-coloured 5 Element Pagoda at the Singapore Feng Shui 2019 Extravaganza. It had a roll of mantra for me to insert into the base. The rolled mantra has a directional arrow drawn… am I to insert the roll with arrow facing up or down?

A Place the mantra with the arrow pointed upwards.

AFRAID TO LOSE MY JOB

Q I am a kind person as people tell me. I always smile at work, am kind to all my customers, but I do not understand why my manager is always against with me. I come to work each day, but I always get nervous and worry. I do not know what will happen to me. I always tell myself to do the best I can, make no mistakes, then nobody can give you hard time. This is the only job that can give me good money for my kids and family. I cannot give it up but am afraid that if I make even a small mistake, my manager can fire me anytime. Please help!!!!

A You need to harness the support of your manager / boss because that is what seems to be causing you the most stress, and what is making working life unpleasant for you. Carry the Gui Ren Talisman – this will get you the support of the Jade Emperor, and in turn, the support of your boss.

Activate the NW of your home / office by placing a Sapphire Boar in the NW – this will ensure you have the support you need from the powers that be, and also activate for wealth luck so that you do not have financial worries. And lastly, get yourself a Red Apple with Peace Symbol and place in the South sector – this will keep others in your side and help to prevent others getting irritated or irritable or finding fault with you for no reason.

LACKING BOSS’ SUPPORT

Q I think I lack support from my boss and would like to place the mountain painting to give me support. I am seated facing north, with my back to the south. However, as my office is an open concept, I do not have a wall behind me to put the painting, how else can I solve this?

A Get yourself the Heaven Seal and place on your desk instead. Place in the East to harness the luck of the Heavenly Star, or anywhere on your work desk will work as well. And carry the Heaven Luck Activator.

WEALTH WALLET

Q I want to buy a new wallet in this coming year’s Wealth colour Red! Should I buy only a red wallet? Or can I buy gold or silver colors? When is it better to buy a wallet?

A The start of the new year is the best time to change your wallet. In fact, it is an excellent practice to change your wallet at the start of each new year; but transfer a little bit of money from your old wallet to your new wallet when you start to use it. This year red is the colour of wealth, so a red wealth wallet would be excellent if wealth is what you want. Silver and gold are “Metal” colours, and Metal in 2019 is important too – it stands for resources.

KITCHEN WOK

Q I am a female born on 28 Feb 1972. Recently, I came across a saying that if the Kitchen Wok is built against the toilet wall, it is actually bad feng shui. Is this true? How to counter this? Thank you.

A Yes, not good for your kitchen wok to be on the other side of the wall of the toilet. Best if you move the placement of your wok, since is would be harder to move your toilet.

DREAMING OF WU LOUS

Q I dreamt of a few small wu lous like the one I’m wearing. Finally, a larger one. What does this mean?

A Dreams are often a manifestation of your own subconscious mind. The Wu Lou is the sacred gourd or “Giver of Life” and often used to ward off illness and disease, and as an effective feng shui antidote to the illness star. Dreaming of wu lous could mean your mind is on your health, and if your dream started off with a few small wu lous, which then culminated into a larger one, it means you are hopeful that your health will improve. Indeed, if you are suffering chronic ill health, often the most effective way to get better is if in your mind and heart you want to get better and believe you will get better. The dream is thus a good dream.

HELPING SON IMPROVE LOVE LIFE

Q How can I help my second boy improve his sentimental life and attract the right people into his life? And also improve his academic career?

A How old is your son? If he is still pursuing his academic life, if by sentimental life you mean his love life, perhaps this is not the right time for him to improve his sentimental life? But if you mean how do you ensure he attracts friends that are GOOD for him, as opposed to being a bad influence, the best way is to energize to boost his personal development. He will attract friends and companions into his life that boost his self-confidence and ambitions for a successful academic life if that is what he himself wants.

Best way to start? Let him sleep with his head pointed towards his Fu Wei (personal development) direction and let him sit at his study desk facing his Fu Wei direction. Click here to find out his KUA number and Fu Wei direction.

Display the Wisdom Pagoda with the Treasure Chest Dharani in the West corner of your home or of his study room, and for his desk, get the Golden Chi Lin with 4 scholastic objects.

Talk to him about regularly about his school work but also about his friends and social life. Be the host parent for some of your son’s social occasions and get to know his friends. The more interested you are in your son’s life, the more interest he himself will take in making the right decisions and the more likely he will be to hang out with the right crowd. Make sure you continue to be as big an influence in his life as his friends.

HOW TO BECOME FAMOUS

Q To get fame, do we sit in the South or face South to achieve that? Secondly, if following Kua number, do you do the same?

A For fame, energize the universal corner for fame, which is the SOUTH. You don’t need to sit in the South, nor do you have to face South. But you should ensure the South part of your house, and the South corner of your bedroom, work room and office room are not afflicted.

Energize the South with a pair of crimson phoenixes or with the Windhorse. Keep this corner well-lit and energized with a bright lamp – best is the Hum and Tam Lamp with seed syllables of Goddess Tara and Guru Rinpoche. These will attract wonderful success energies into your home for you.

HOW TO DISPOSE OF USED CURES?

Q I have been following WOFS feng shui cures for about 10 years now. Needless to say I have built up quite a collection. Even after disposing of protective items and keeping only enhancers, it has come to a point where there are just too many items. Can we dispose of these items, especially stupas and idols of deities? And if so how?

A Cures that have done their job should be retired, but enhancers too, when they have become worn with time, tarnished or rusty, should be similarly retired. There is nothing wrong in disposing of feng shui items that have done their job – it is similar to throwing out old clothes that are torn, tattered or that simply do not fit anymore.

Sacred or holy objects however should not be carelessly discarded, and if really they are old (say chipped, broken etc), you can respectfully bury them in the ground or wrap them with paper before disposing them.

CUSP ASTROLOGY SIGN

Q I was born January 17th 1954; from reading, I am supposed to go back one year to 1953 because of the date of 17. However, I have so many of the characteristics of the Horse more so than the Snake, so I’m not sure which to follow.

A Those born on the cusp of two animal signs often share the general characteristics of both signs. But your date of birth of Jan 17th 1954 is more than half a month before the Lunar New Year crossover date of that year, so in terms of astrological luck predictions, you are likely to follow the charts of the Snake. However, both the Snake and the Horse are Fire animals, and their luck patterns very much mirror each other’s through the passage of time.

BE MINDFUL WHERE YOU PLACE AUSPICIOUS PLACEMENTS

Q I placed the tri-coloured pagoda and Wealth King Gesar in front of my main entrance above a shoe cabinet. Happened to read that auspicious items cannot be placed above a shoe cabinet. Is it true?

A Do NOT place auspicious symbols and items on top of a shoe cabinet, and especially, do NOT place deities on shoe cabinets. If your entrance is such that it is a little corner where you take off your shoes before entering the main house, then display your pagoda and King Gesar somewhere else. In your living room is best. In the main part of the home, not the little conduit where you enter.

FENG SHUI FOR YOUR CAR

Q Both my hubby and I are born in the year of the Horse. We just bought a new car and wonder what we should hang in the car for safety and wealth?

A Best is to stick protective stickers that we have specially designed for use in cars. Click here for our selection of stickers. For wealth, the best is King Gesar’s sticker.

SCHOOLS NEAR CEMETERIES & CHURCHES

Q What are your thoughts about schools which are near a cemetery or a church or both? This is very common in Ireland. Would children have to wear/carry protection or avoid the school?

A It is not ideal if the cemetery is in plain sight from the school. Churches are fine as long as they do not directly face the school. In fact, churches are places of worship and their proximity to schools is not a bad thing. No need to avoid the school. However, we always recommend everyone, and especially children, to wear or carry some kind of protection, as one can encounter negative influences and energies at any time. Just carrying or wearing a sacred syllable can literally “save your life”.

DECORATING SON’S ROOM FOR LUCK

Q I’m renovating my boy’s room in 2019. He is born in 2001. He is not doing well in his studies. What is a suitable colour for the room, and where should I place his study table and bed? Thank you.

A Your boy is a Snake-born, so in 2019, the Year of the Boar, he is directly confronting the Grand Duke Jupiter. More important than anything for him would be to ensure he does not offend the Tai Sui. He should carry the Tai Sui Amulet, and make sure you have the Tai Sui Plaque in the NW of his room, and also of your home.

His Kua number is 8, so this is good news as 8 is the number that rules the year. This will mitigate the Tai Sui affliction somewhat. A good colour for his bedroom is a neutral tone like white, or a light cream colour. His bed should be positioned such that his head points to the SW or NE. Similarly, his desk should be placed such that he sits facing SW or NE.

His element luck this coming year is weak, so I also recommend that he carries the Life Force Amulet.

MAKING A HOME MORE WELCOMING

Q How can I make my house more welcoming / inviting for family and friends?

A The best way is to organize your interior décor such that you have a suitable room in which to entertain. Make sure this room – it can be a living area, or a dining area – has enough chairs / sofas and table space or side tables for drinks, snacks etc. When you lay out your home with visitors and guests in mind, the energies will be more inviting for them to come visit, and hang out.

Another good way is to shake up the energy of your home. Move furniture around. Change the layout of your rooms regularly, even if the changes are small. This will make a difference as it will bring your house back to life.

HUSBAND LEFT ME

Q Two months ago, my husband of 20 years left me. Although he does not communicate much, (he just says he can’t “do this anymore”), I believe he ran away from our severe business and financial problems. He is also refusing to work or have anything to do with the family business. I really love and miss him and want him to come home. Please help.

A Get yourself the Marriage Saver Amulet and wear it. Check the feng shui of your home. Is the Northwest part of the home afflicted or missing? A common reason for the man of the house to walk out is when the sector of the Patriarch is missing or afflicted. If he has been married to you for 20 years and then leaves, most of the time if you check, the feng shui will have something to do with it. Difficult to advise you without actually checking your house – we recommend you check the feng shui, or get a feng shui consultation.

For your financial problems, focus on this by energizing for wealth and mitigating any losses. Energize the center of your home with Bamboo Forest of Prosperity. For better business luck, display the Three Warriors in your home or office. And place the Anti Burglary Mountain in the Southeast. This protects against robbery, but also against money loss in business.

TOILET IN THE SOUTHEAST

Q In my SE there is a toilet and bathroom, with a window. How is that good or bad? And how to fix?

A It’s neither good nor bad unless it occupies the whole of the SE. And that is bad because the SE is the sector that represents wealth luck. But if your bathroom and toilet is in the whole of your SE, I’d say either move it to another sector, or close the door to it when not in use, and activate the SE corner of your living room with wealth enhancers.

There’s no need to fix it per se, as every sector represents something.

Toilets however that need to be urgently moved are those directly above the main door to the home. These are bad – and I have seen so many cases where this causes the family’s fortunes to literally turn on its head – and in such cases, I’d say renovate, move out, or use another door as the main door.

LEANING WALL

Q

I have just found out that one side of an exterior wall is leaning – in other words, not straight. The house has moved in the past. Please, how can I protect my house? What feng shui objects can help make my wall strong and secure.

A You don’t need feng shui objects, you need to call in an engineer or architect to take a look. Sorry, feng shui cannot help in this respect, but think of it as good feng shui that you noticed this problem, so you can fix it before it becomes a bigger problem or something tragic.

REMOVING A MOLE

Q I have a big mole in my back left shoulder. I want to remove it, but will it change my life fate?

A If anything, a removal of a mole on your back, particularly a big one, will symbolise the removal of the burdens you have to carry. So go ahead and remove it. No problem at all!

EXTENDABLE TABLES IN FENG SHUI

Q Hi! May I know how extendable tables are perceived in Feng Shui? I’m looking to get a dining table for my new home. I understand that dining tables relate to the harmony and quality of relationships within the family. Extendable tables allow space saving and flexibility to accommodate more guests. However, there will be a split in the middle for adding an extra piece. Would that have any negative impact on the family’s relationship, wealth and abundance?

A For your main family dining table, it is better not to have a table with a split down the middle. Extendable tables are fine when used for crafting, display or other purposes, but your main family dining table represents the state of your family, so it is better to get a solid proper table than a makeshift, extendable one.

HOW TO DISCARD UNWANTED RELIGIOUS OBJECTS?

Q What is the best way to discard unwanted religious and spiritual printed material such as mantras, pictures or articles of Deities/Buddha, for example those that have been printed incorrectly, etc. I don’t want to create any negative karma by just throwing them in the trash. Kindly advise.

A When religious mantras and texts have been printed incorrectly, best not to use them, but if printed with images of sacred deities and objects that you don’t want to trash, what you can do is burn them or bury them in the ground, in a respectful manner.

BEE HIVE IN BACKYARD

Q Is it good or bad luck if bees start building a hive in one’s backyard on a tree?

A Whenever animals choose a location to build a nest or hive, it is indicative of good energy, but in the case of a bee hive, because of the danger implications, I would advise getting it removed by an expert before it becomes unmanageable or dangerous.

HANGING A MOUNTAIN ON A SHIP

Q I read your article “How Mountains Can Improve Your Work and Love Life?” I am a seaman, meaning I work onboard a ship. I would like to hang a mountain picture behind my work desk but the ship will change direction when sailing. Could you please advise which mountain picture to hang? Is the Three Peaks mountain picture the best to use regardless of any ship direction? Thanks.

A Mountains when hung behind a work desk, irrespective of direction, bring good support in your work and whatever you are pursuing. On board your ship, if you have a desk, you can hang a mountain on the wall behind your desk, since whichever way the ship is travelling, you will still be sitting in the same direction within your work office.

POLITICKING

Q How to protect ourselves from petty people in the work place or at in gatherings like attending courses in a classroom? Recently I was a target. Was trying to help comfort someone in distress, but ended up the person got mad with me and started to bad mouth me. Is there any feng shui item for such purpose which we can place in the home or carry with us at all times?

A You can carry the Apple Peace Hanging, which makes all your relationships with others more harmonious. You can also display the Apple with Peace Symbol in red or gold where the #3 quarrelsome star has landed. In 2019, the #3 star flies to the South, so if you find you experience incidents like the one you describe, make sure you cure this affliction within your home and work space.

Sometimes even the best of our intentions get misunderstood – the advice I usually give is to stay out of other people’s affairs unless you are directly asked for help – because even if your intentions are sincere, when someone is in some kind of trouble, they may not be in the frame of mind to accept your help, or they may see you as sticking your nose where it is not wanted.

If they asked for your help in the first place and then turn on you, just wipe your hands clean and forget about them. Mentally put them on the palm of your hand and symbolically blow them away, out of your life.

In work place politics, and in highly competitive corporate environments where competition for promotions and favour with the boss can get deadly, you need the image of a fierce looking Rooster on your desk, to peck away at the rumour-mongering and the bad mouthing.

BATHROOM IN THE SW

Q I have just moved into a house where the bathroom is located in the SW, exactly on the right side of the main door. Please tell me what I need to do?

A A bathroom to the right of your main door is not the issue; the issue however is that it occupies the SW of your home. This is the sector that governs your relationships, in particular your LOVE relationships.

Homes with daughters of marriageable age with toilets in the SW usually see the daughters finding it hard to land suitable husbands, and yes, this applies more to females than males.

BUT, if the bathroom does not take up too much of the sector (i.e. not the whole sector) it shouldn’t pose such a severe problem. If you are not yet married and are trying to find someone suitable, try not to use this bathroom too much, and certainly do not try to “enhance” it in any way!

CAN FENG SHUI TELL ME EVERYTHING ABOUT ME?

Q

Hi Aunt, I am a male born on 17 April 1980 and want to know what Feng Shui can tell me in detail about me (career, health, wealth love etc). I have met a female born 28 Sept 1988; are we suitable for each other? And can you help tell me more about her with feng shui?

A Oh dear, no. Feng shui is learning how to work with the energies surrounding you and your living space; it cannot tell you about your current health, wealth, love etc. What it can do though is help forecast your luck in these areas based on your animal sign – for details on this, it would take more than this column to answer – you should get your FORTUNE AND FENG SHUI animal sign book, which has what you need to know to navigate your fortunes successfully.

If you’re born April 1980, you are a Metal Monkey – this makes you very clever! The female you have met is a Dragon, and Monkeys and Dragons are astrological allies, making the two of you most compatible! Come to Lillian Too’s Feng Shui Extravaganza 2019 (in Dec this year) if you want to learn in more detail!

DIFFICULT TEENAGED SON

Q I only have one child. My son is 16 years old. He is being very difficult and stubborn. Day by day, he is very much distracted by his hand phone and has less and less time for studies. He refuses to listen to any advice given by me or his father. Already checked his bedroom, study table position, and everything seems fine. Whether telling him nicely or being firm – neither seem to work. I have already bought a crystal globe for his study room. Day by day, he keeps to himself and avoids us. Are there any feng shui tools that can help? Please help me. Thank you.

A Teenaged years can be difficult, especially when the child is going through puberty and changes. Some of these will be hormonal, others due to peer group pressure.

The best thing to do as a parent is to be understanding, being firm without being unreasonable. Steer him towards friends that are a good influence on him. If he is mixing with pals he views as popular, but they are imprinting all the wrong values – explain to him and make him see for himself why they may not be good for him, rather than banning contact altogether with certain friends.

Whenever he achieves something worthy of praise, give it freely. His achievements may start out small, but when you acknowledge achievements, however small, this sets off a magical upward spiral where he will strive to achieve more and more. Don’t scold him, because with teenaged-boys, this rarely works, and if you’re not careful, you could end up with a delinquent on your hands.

The best feng shui item that can calm an angry or difficult teenager is the Red Wisdom Pagoda, designed to promote scholastic achievement in students. This it does by motivating them to do well, and when they start to achieve, they get a taste of their own success. As a parent, you need to steer their interests towards achievement rather than towards impressing their peers.

Plug in his date of birth into the Kua calculator on WOFS.com and get his auspicious directions, and make sure his bed has his head pointed to a lucky direction. Check his bedroom is not being afflicted by unlucky flying stars – if it is, make sure you have the cures in place.

Good luck and don’t give up on your son. And don’t just leave him be. Be understanding and slowly bring him back round to your side.

KUA LOCATION OR ANIMAL SIGN LOCATION?

Q My Kua number is 1 (female). I belong to the East group, but being a Boar, my home direction is NW, which is not good for East group people. My bedroom happens to be in the NW. Is that OK for me? When sleeping, can I have my head pointed NW, coz then I will face SE?

A These are two different systems of feng shui you are talking about – both need to be taken into account but in different ways. The KUA FORMULA usually involves directional feng shui – i.e. which directions you face when you work, sleep, study, dine, have meetings etc. If you are Kua 1, it means your good directions are SE, East, South and North. For greatest success, you should face SE; for health, face East; for love and relationships, face South; for personal development, face North.

The NW, the home location of your animal sign of Boar, is not an East group direction for you to face, but it is an auspicious LOCATION for you to occupy. So your bedroom in the NW is good for you, although you should not have your head pointed to the NW since it is not one of your “lucky” directions. If you can point your head to an East group direction, that would be better.

HOW TO DELAY THE AGEING PROCESS

Q Please tell us what feng shui items we should have in the home if we find we are ageing faster than we should. My husband’s eyesight is still perfect and he can read very tiny font words. At age 40, I am told I have a cataract. Please help. I also have dental problems and have seen a dentist for so many teeth problems since last November. Please tell me what I can do using feng shui. Thank you.

A Cataracts are not always due to age, so the problem may not be due to the fact you’re ageing faster… rather, you could be being afflicted by the illness star.

When you are hit by the #2 star, especially when the hit comes on multiple fronts, it can seem especially severe. This past year of 2018, the Illness Star has planted itself firmly in the West, so if your bedroom, front door, or office is West-located, this could have caused you to go through a particularly difficult year health-wise.

If you are Rooster born, this affliction would have been exacerbated, as the Rooster’s home location is West. In 2019, the Illness Star flies to the NE, and will especially affect those born in Ox and Tiger years.

The most powerful antidotes for health afflictions are the Wu Lou, the Garuda Bird, or you could call on the help of Medicine Buddha. Chant his mantra and display his image prominently in the home.

Do check your charts because your problem is not one of premature ageing, but possibly a temporary affliction caused by difficult flying stars. Hang in there. When the energies change over as the New Year comes, things should get better for you.

CHOOSING COLOURS FOR WALLS

Q When choosing colours for house exteriors, are there any recommendations based on a house’s facing direction? My house faces NE and my Kua number is 8. The house is very old but sits in an auspicious spot on a small hill, with no apparent poison arrows around. The house is currently yellow, which is dull, and I want to refresh it. I feel like keeping it a tasteful, cheerful yellow; or should I change it completely to a blue or white?

A No. The best colours for houses are the Earth colours. Any colour that suggests Earth is wonderful. So your house has a good colour. You can just revitalize it with a fresh coat of paint.

DEALING WITH SPIRIT ATTACKS

Q My youngest brother keeps getting subjected to black magic and bad spirits. He is kind-hearted, hardworking, liked by his superiors, and does not talk too much or gossip. He likes to help others and to befriend people, but he is not good at distinguishing between good and bad company. I see him as a loyal friend, and try to advise him to be careful who gets too close to. What can we as a family do to protect him from bad vibes from bad company? His animal sign is Rooster.

A The best protection is for him to wear an Amulet. Any kind of sacred amulet blessed by a High Lama or Temple will work. Even if it is not blessed, if the amulet is given to him by an older person with good intentions, it is extremely powerful.

You as his older sibling can buy him an amulet and give it to him with sincere thoughts. Or you can get something for him from a High Lama.

If you don’t have a High Lama, priest or similar person, what you can do is to offer incense. I offer incense every day to the local spirits that protect my house. Call on the local spirits to protect him. The offering of incense is one of the most powerful rituals.

FACING A MOSQUE

Q Is it OK if my main door is facing a mosque and I live on the 4th floor?

A When you face a mosque, a church, a temple… all the yin energy from such places of worship will come your way. The Chinese in the old days used to put the Pa Kua amulet, to reflect back to yin energies. Churches and mosques are “yin” places – yin is “other worldly”. And that’s why I prefer not to live in front of sacred places. It’s like you’re confronting the sacred place. Much better to put your entrance facing another direction. So if you want to be protected by these sacred places, rather than confront the sacred place.

MEANING OF DREAMS

Q What does it mean to dream of being in a church? What does it mean to dream of being in a toilet? I have these dreams from time to time. Is it good? If bad, what can I do using feng shui? Thank you. God bless WOFS.

A I actually don’t believe in prophetic dreams. To me, when you dream of anything, good or bad, it is merely a reflection of your subconscious state. So I do not assign much prophetic meaning to dreams. As to whether a dream is good or bad, some people they say the meaning is the opposite. I also do not believe that. I think a dream merely reflects your state of mind. If your state of mind is happy, you will dream happy dreams. If your state of mind is worried, you will have dreams that tend to disturb you. They are simply a reflection of your subconscious.

HOW TO IMPROVE CASH FLOW

Q I am an avid follow of Lillian Too and have been practising Feng Shui as much as I am able for many years now. I sit facing my best direction at work plus my house is facing an auspicious direction too. Both my wife and I are Rabbits and our Kua numbers are 7 & 8 respectively. We have two boys and live a happy life. Our only big gripe is having tight cash-flow every month even though both of us earn well. As much as we save, it flows out as unexpected expenses month after month. Hoping you can advise on better cash flow, and perhaps on how to earn a bigger income. Thank you.

A Everyone has the same problem these days. The cost of living has gone up. We are living through hard times. But from the sound of it, you are coping very well. Take comfort from the fact that your health is good, and that you have enough money at least to keep on living. These days, because of the bigger feng shui of the country, everyone is suffering and everyone has to cope with tighter cash flows and having cash flow problems.

I would suggest that for the coming year, wear plenty of red, because red represents wealth next year (2019). And every year, look at what represents wealth luck, and emphasise that colour.

If you can, pick up one of Lillian Too’s Feng Shui books, and look for three wealth rituals. 1) Have a Wealth Vase, 2) Have a wealth ship, 3) Wear the wealth colour, 4) Display the wealth element, 5) Create a mountain of gold outside your house by painting a few rocks gold.

RUBBISH BIN IN VIEW OF FRONT DOOR

Q There is a shared rubbish bin placed about 5 metres directly in front of my front door. I stay on the ground floor of a condo. How can I effectively block any bad chi?

A The best thing you can do is to block it from your view. What you don’t see does not affect you. So plant some plants, or place some potted plants in front of the trash can so you cannot see it from your front door.

WEDDING DATE PICKED – BUT ALMANAC SAYS NOT AUSPICIOUS

Q Hi, I’m concerned about the date my daughter is getting married. The chart says it is not an auspicious day. What can I do to make it auspicious?

A If the date has already been selected and all arrangements have been made and you cannot change the date, then I suggest you use the “Art of Placement”, i.e. all the auspicious symbols that indicate a happy marriage.

The best symbols to use are the Double Happiness Symbol (make it very big), the Dragon and Phoenix symbol (which indicates celestial happiness) and plenty of the colour Red, because red is Yang energy; red is always a wonderful, auspicious colour.

If you have these three things as part of the wedding decorations and celebrations, and your daughter wears the Qua (the Chinese auspicious bridal dress) and her husband wears the bridal outfit, then all this will attract a lot of auspicious energies to the marriage.

It is not always possible to choose the most auspicious dates for weddings, so don’t worry too much about this.

CAN WE DISPLAY A PICTURE ON A WALL WITH A BATHROOM ON OTHER SIDE?

Q My living room wall shares the bathroom wall. Is it bad feng shui to put a picture on a wall with a bathroom on the other side?

A Depends on what the picture is of. If the wall is being shared by a bathroom on the other side, you must NOT hang sacred images like Thangkas there. You should also not hang pictures of people (e.g. your family portrait). But if you hang a picture of scenery, then it will be fine.

OFFERING INCENSE AND CANDLE. WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

Q What is the difference between lighting a candle and burning incense to offer to Buddha? What must we say when we light a candle? What must we say if we burn incense?

A There are mantras that enhance the offering of incense, and there are mantras that enhance the offering of lights (you can get these from CHANT A MANTRA).

The most important difference between lights and incense is that they each have a different benefit.

When you offer candles and lights, it makes you more intelligent and it generates greater wisdom; light indicates wisdom energy, which dispels ignorance.

Incense on the other hand, is to clear the space. When you offer incense, you’re offering incense to the local spirits of your home, which appeases them; and this makes your house very harmonious, very smooth, with everything going very well for you.

Each different offering brings a different benefit. So remember, incense is to appease the surrounding spirits. Light offerings are to increase your wisdom. Flower offerings are to increase your beauty. Food and water offerings increase your wealth and well-being. All offerings have specific meanings.

FRAMING PICTURE OF LOVED ONE THAT HAS PASSED ON

Q I have recently lost my husband and would like to know the best wall in the living room to hang his picture in order for him to protect the family. Also, what is the best material for the frame to be made of?

A The best place to hang your late husband’s picture is in the Northwest. The NW represents the Patriarch. What you want is your husband’s loving energy, the spirit he exudes for you, and to keep his beautiful memories alive, so the NW wall is the best wall.

The frame can be made out of metal or wood, but I would suggest to frame his picture in metal, as it is more enduring.

DISPLAYING ANIMAL TROPHY HEADS

Q My friend’s husband is a hunter and likes to display the heads of deer on the walls throughout their house. Is this considered a bad omen, or is it auspicious in any way?

A It is definitely not auspicious. What happens when you display anything that has two eyes, one nose and a mouth is that you are attracting spirits to make their home inside that display. Even with a painting this can happen; that is why we put Om Ah Hum at the back of all figurines, statues and painting. This prevents bad spirits from residing within. Even stuffed dolls can attract bad spirits.

On animal head trophies, I would advise against putting these up, as you are attracting the spirits of animals, most of whom are wild animals and can be harmful.

KITCHEN IN THE NW

Q We moved into my husband’s company housing last year. And we just found out that the northwest part of our house comprises half of our kitchen (the part with no stove) and the common bathroom. Is there any cure for it?

A Kitchens in the NW are always a little bit dangerous, as the kitchen represents Fire energy and the NW is a metal sector. And because NW represents heaven, it creates the unlucky “Fire at heaven’s Gate” configuration. If you cannot change the location of the kitchen, best is to avoid doing any cooking there, especially cooking that involves open fire. If the stove part of the kitchen is not located in the NW, then it is not so bad. But still, if you have to do cooking, how about set up a cooking kitchen in another part of your home, and keep your NW purely as a “dry” kitchen to serve drinks, prepare salads and sandwiches, and things that do not require open fire?

HELPING ELDERLY PARENTS’ HEALTH

Q My old parents are not in good health. It is so sad to see my dad losing his memory and so weak he cannot move. What feng shui items can we place to help him recover faster? Who can we pray to for help on health for my dad? Can you please provide us with the wordings and instructions please?

A The best is to bring in a beautiful image of MEDICINE Buddha. We created a stunning bejewelled blue Buddha precisely for this purpose, so that each time your dad sees it and thinks “wow beautiful”, just that thought evokes the blessings of the powerful medicine Buddha. You can also display the Amithayus Plaque in your home. Medicine Buddha will heal, while Amithayus is one of the long life Buddhas. Chanting their mantras daily will strengthen the health and longevity of those residing in your home, especially the elderly folk like your dad. The Amithayus mantra is OM AHMARANI JIVAN TYE SOHA and you can chant a whole mala of this mantra each day or as often as you wish. His plaque features a beautiful image of him together with his long mantra. We will say prayers for your dad to have an easier old age.

KEEPING ITEMS OF A DEAD PERSON

Q After the passing of our friend, her precious things were given away, but i have her bag that she was using before she passed away. Is that good?

A There’s nothing wrong with keeping the belongings of someone who has passed on. And if that person was someone special to you, keeping something she used to own may help you keep the memory of her alive. When it becomes unhealthy however is when what you keep of hers is something that causes you to not want to let her go. If you are clinging on to her, even if she has already passed on, it could cause her soul to yearn for you. This is what Buddhists refer to as the great sin of “attachment” and it causes those who have passed on to get stuck in what the Chinese refer to as the realms of the Hungry Ghosts. This is mostly the case when direct family, especially a spouse, grieves too hard or too long for a lost loved one. Better to rejoice and pray for a good rebirth, and completely let go, as this is the best thing you can do for them.

IS WEARING YOUR OWN ANIMAL SIGN BAD LUCK?

Q I was told by a friend that one should not buy or wear feng shui cures with one’s own animal sign, as it is considered as clashing with one’s own self. Is that true?

A Absolutely NOT true. Wearing your own animal sign is a nod to your own self, and placing a figurine of your animal sign in your home sector only enhances your own luck and empowers your astrological aura. But, what is even better than wearing your own animal sign, is to wear it together with the sign of your astrological allies or secret friend. There are a great many ways to use beautiful images of all 12 astrological animals – they each serve to bring different dimensions of luck your way. For instance, when you place your sign with that of your astrology ally or secret friend, these bring you the kind of bonding luck that enhances your luck, brings you powerful mentors and creates hidden support for all that you do. Astrological allies and friends help you without you even knowing. This is why the Chinese believe so much in displaying one’s allies and friends and both Lillian and Jennifer display all 12 signs in their homes! When you know the science of PAHT CHEE, you will come to realise the many different combinations of signs that activate different kinds of luck!

NORTHWEST NOT GOOD FOR CHILDREN?

Q My young son’s bedroom is in the NW. I have read that the NW isn’t a good sector for children. Are there any cures that can be used in this sector to help my son?

A Firstly, this is not true, so there is no cause for worry. The Northwest in terms of family members represents the father, the leader, or the head of the household. It is also the sector of the compass that represents mentor luck, something all children can benefit from. The NW is also the home sector of all those born under the astrological signs of Dog or Boar. There is nothing you need to worry about with your son’s bedroom occupying the NW. And what’s more, this year in 2018, the NW becomes especially lucky, as the annual star that has flown in for the year is the Victory Star #1. To ensure your son does as well as he can however, you can ensure his bed is positioned such that his head points to one of his lucky directions as he sleeps (find out his lucky directions at www.wofs.com with the Kua calculator) and position his desk so he faces a lucky direction when he sits to do his homework. Other taboos to avoid – no poison arrows, no fierce animal pictures, choose a wall colour that is pastel or white or light-coloured. Avoid overly bright colours in the bedroom, which can be unsettling, not just for children but for anyone.

DO HOUSE NUMBERS HAVE MEANING?

Q “How do we add up our house number? If we live in an apartment, would it be the block or our individual unit that is considered the house number?”

A This question falls under the Science of Numerology and a straight answer to your question is that YES, numbers do bring about different kinds of influences to the occupants of a home, and from this perspective, they affect the feng shui of homes. If you know your LUCKY NUMBER, then it would be the number of your apartment unit which is what will be written onto an envelope addressed to you. I f you live in Block 21-7, in Unit 8, then 8 is the most important number. When your house or apartment number resonates with your personal numerological indications – i.e. if it is the same as your birth date or your KUA number, the house number is generally in sync with you and thus considered very auspicious for you. But there are some numbers that are universally good for everyone – 1,6,8 and 9 are the numbers that bring safety and good fortune. The first three numbers, the white numbers of the Flying Star system, bring success, big opportunities and prosperity, while the number 9 brings completion luck and abundance. 2,3,4,5,7 are trickier numbers as they are not universally lucky for everyone, but if you are born with one of these numbers as your KUA , then that number is considered lucky for you. I f your unit has more than one digit, e.g. 27, you add up the two numbers, reducing it to one digit 2+7=9, then 9 becomes the number to take note of.

UNNEIGHBOURLY NEIGHBOURS

Q Please help us. We moved to our new apartment, but the unit above us is so inconsiderate and rude. They water their plants dripping water onto our balcony, and worse, splashing water without caring if the units below get wet. We talked to them face to face, but they ignore us and repeatedly do this. Please tell us what feng shui we can use, or prayers to say, to stop such unfriendly and rude acts from neighbours who only think of themselves. We did try to pray, but as we are not Buddhists, we are not sure if there is a special mantra that will help people be nice to others. Thank you.

A This is a very common occurrence and it can be very annoying indeed. You can try sending them an “offering” of flowers. Usually, we recommend reciting a special mantra before making the offering, but since you are not a Buddhist, you can recite a friendly prayer on your flowers before sending to them. You will be pleasantly surprised how this can work wonders! Remember to tie a red ribbon onto your flower as this forges a neighbourly link with them and is extremely powerful. After you have become friends, you can then tell them about the dripping water!

DREAMING OF SANTA CLAUS

Q “I dreamt of Santa Claus and there were many gifts with him. In feng shui, does this mean anything? I had this dream as Chinese New Year was approaching and thought I should’ve dreamt of Wealth God Tsai Sheng Yeh instead. I also dreamt I was in a mall looking at gifts. What does this mean?”

A Santa Claus is a Western version of a Wealth God! Like Chinese and Taoist Wealth Gods, Santa Claus carries a big sack with him. If you dream of Santa Claus bearing gifts, it can only mean good things! Your dream about being in a mall looking for gifts could be your subconscious telling you that you forgot something during Christmastime. Was there someone you forgot to buy a gift for? But more than a physical gift, is there someone in your life you have been neglecting and ought to give more time to?

TRYING TO CONCEIVE ANOTHER CHILD

Q “My wife (Boar) and I (Rooster) are trying for another child after we shifted to a new place, but we have had no luck for a long time. We heard that having a fan above our bed is not good for conceiving. Our bedroom is in the West and Southwest. Do we need to remove the fan or install any other remedies to increase conception chances? Thanks!”

A Ceiling fans above the bed are no good for conception luck, and also not good for your feng shui in general. You should replace this fan with an air conditioner or use a stand fan instead. As for increasing your chances of conceiving, activate the West part of your bedroom or home – this sector represents descendents luck and also the next generation – place symbols of fertility such as the pomegranate or a pair of elephants with trunks down. You can also get an image of the Fertility Tara (white in colour), who bestows the ability to conceive to those who dedicate prayers to her. Chant the mantra of Tara 108 times a day (use mala beads for this) and fervently make your wish upon completion of one mala of recitation. Tara’s mantra is: OM TARE TUTTARE TURE SOHA.

ACTIVATING SYMBOLS & CURES

Q Is it necessary to have all the recommended figurines and amulets activated by a temple before using them?

A None of the Buddha images require activating at a temple unless you want the energy of blessings from the monk based at your favourite temple. Everything you place in your home and office to benefit you and your family can be “activated” by you yourself, with any simple mantra recited seven times such as “omani padme hum” or even “om ah hum” repeated seven times. You can also offer fragrant incense to welcome them into your home. Protector figurines such as Fu Dogs and Chi Lins can be energised in a similar way and they can also have their eyes symbolically opened i.e. with a brush and red ink by a Taoist priest.

Buddhas, Deities, prayer wheels and other sacred objects work best when you consecrate them with prayers and pujas. You can learn how to do this yourself or you can take these with you to a puja or prayer session conducted by someone qualified to do so or by a resident lama.

As for enhancers and cures, because feng shui deals with energies, it is important that the energies that emanate from your items are positive. us we repeatedly warn against buying feng shui items from just anywhere; e.g. if you buy a Wealth enhancer from a dusty roadside stall, common sense would tell you the wealth energies attached to the enhancer won’t be effective, as these have imbued the energy of the roadside!

This becomes even more imperative with items containing sacred syllables and mantras. When we manufacture our sacred objects and symbols at WOFS.com, we ensure the mantras are inscribed properly, correctly, and in their entirety, or else, apart from being disrespectful, they just will not work. We also ensure the workmanship of our products meet with a strict level of quality control, because when you fashion such powerful inscriptions, the more care you put in when creating it, the greater the power of the finished object.

PAHT CHEE CLASH

Q “My daughter’s Paht Chee chart has Dragon, Rooster, Rabbit, Rooster. Here self-element is Yin Metal. Since the Rabbit is sandwiched between two of its zodiac enemies, what can she do to remedy this affliction? (DOB: 14 March 2005)”

A The Rabbit is the odd animal out in this chart. To remedy this clash, she should carry a Wish-granting Dog Amulet (available at www.fsmegamall.com). The Dog is the secret friend of the Rabbit, and this will nullify the clash. And this year it is especially lucky to carry the Dog amulet, as she will be harnessing the energies of the year onto her side. Meanwhile, the Dragon/Rooster is an excellent feature of her chart, as this symbolises the power of the secret friend combination! These two signs together brings a great deal of good fortune luck her way.

FRIDGE FACING STOVE

Q My kitchen has a refrigerator and stove facing each other, but neither can be moved. The distance is 4 feet. Any countermeasures?

A The reason refrigerators should not face stoves is that it creates a clash of energies. The fridge represents Water energy, while the stove represents Fire. If you cannot move either, then try not to use both at the same time. It is not such a terrible thing however, as Fire and Water together creates steam, and steam brings the luck of “authority and power.”

RENOVATING THE KITCHEN

Q “We’re thinking of doing a kitchen refurb. This would move the stove. It would still be in the NE, but open to NW, whereas now it opens to the SW direction. The house period is 3. Would moving the stove change it to 8; and when is best to change over please?”

A A stove that opens to the NW would be good for you if NW is one of your auspicious directions – i.e. you are West group. A stove that opens to the SW is also good for West group people. So it wouldn’t change anything in terms of personalized luck for you. Changing the stove position like this will also not have any effect on the Period of your house; to change your house to a Period 8 house, you need to do more extensive refurbishments – to your roof, your floor and your main door. BUT, it is always good to upgrade and renew your interiors and furnishings. For this year 2018, there are no major afflictions in the NE to stop you renovating, but the quarrelsome star #3 is there, so display a pair of Red Tzi Chi Kau whilst renovation works are being done, as activity, lights and sound will aggravate the argumentative energies of the #3.

TEENAGER DOES NOT BELIEVE IN FENG SHUI

Q “What can we do if our teen who is taking an important national school exam does not allow us to put any feng shui item on the study desk? Or place any feng shui items in the room at all? Please help.” There’s little point spending too much energy trying to change your teenager’s mind about feng shui if he or she adamantly does not want to believe do not force the issue! This only causes stress which is not good for someone about to sit for important exams.

A Teenagers are a unique sub-species of human being who can sometimes rebel just for the sake of it. If you believe strongly in something, your teenager may go against that belief just to be different. Teenagers are going through puberty; their hormones are developing, so they can be iconoclastic just to be different. For parents, this can be aggravating but let them be. Don’t fret too much. This year, the Scholastic Star has own to the South. Display symbols that boost Scholastic success in the South of your living room. A wonderful enhancer for this kind of luck is the Luo Han with Qi Lin, who brings success to those taking exams. Try to let your teen sleep with head pointed to his/her Fu Wei direction (obtain this with the Kua calculator on www.wofs.com) and also sit at the study desk facing this same Fu Wei direction. No need to discuss feng shui with your teen; just make the changes as part of an interior improvement exercise.

DREAMING OF HUSBAND’S ADULTERY

Q I had a dream that my husband is having sex with another woman. What does it mean?

A This is your subconscious conjuring up some of your deepest fears. Make a real effort to not allow your insecurities to get the better of you. Such dreams mirror your “suspicions” and the mind is powerful, so use it to counter your feelings of insecurities. Take it as your subconscious telling you to be nicer, kinder and more loving to your husband. Never play up your fears in real life; instead, pay extra nice attention to your husband. Create situations to spend quality time bonding with him. It would also be excellent to wear the Marriage Saver Medallion as a precaution – this features the Rooster and Amethyst and keeps the marriage strong. Remember that nothing is as harmful to one’s happiness than third party intrusions into a marriage, so this is something to work at getting right with feng shui. Go shopping at our eCommerce online site (www.fsmegamall.com) and look for marriage and happiness enhancers! Have fun reading our advice and notes on this very important dimension of feng shui.

KEEPING “KOI FISH” BENEFITS FAMILY & CHILDREN

Q “We have a water feature in our balcony face NE. How many koi fish is good to have if we have school-going kids taking exams in 2018?”

A Keeping KOI for feng shui purposes is to attract abundance and wealth. It is not to benefit children taking their examinations. Having said this, when there is abundance in the home, this creates the environment for children to benefit from a happy home ambience, which benefits their state of mind. This will help them do well for their exams. If you want to keep a small number of fish, the best number to have can be five or nine. If your pond is large enough to have more than 9, it looks and feels better, becoming then a more effective feng shui feature. The main thing to take note of is that when there are school-going kids still taking exams, it is best to avoid keeping Koi fish that are white with a red dot on its head. This particular colour combination symbolises failure. If you have a fish like this, best to exchange for another colour. It might also be useful to have a dark coloured fish as well, as this takes care of all negativities.

TEENAGER ANGST

Q Dear Aunt Agga, We need your help urgently and very desperately. Please help us. Th ere is so much rudeness and anger from our teenage daughter. She is so rude, she screams and uses vulgarities on me. I am so sad. She gets annoyed and she is angry every day. Yes. Every day at me. What can I do? I read your magazine each month and pray to Goddess Green Tara. With each passing day, it is getting very sad as a mother for me. She is not doing well academically, and she i s acting like a big, notorious hooligan at home to me. Refuses to tidy up, even when reminded. Helped her tidy up, but she shows no sense of the slightest gratitude in the home. Please help. Our family is falling apart. A Metal Dragon child, she screams and yells at me. She slams the door, throws stuff . I am at a loss and very, very sad.

A Growing up years are not easy years, and often when children act out, there is an underlying reason. Try not to get angry at your daughter, because the anger energies in your home will simply escalate and could end up with one of you ending up saying something you didn’t mean, sometimes things that are difficult to take back. Don’t judge her academic grades; instead, find out what her passions are and make use of her strengths rather than focusing on her weaknesses. If she is a Metal Dragon, she is 17 or 18 and entering her College years. Th is can be a stressful time with applications to College so dependent on results or predicted results; if you say she is lashing out, it could be due to her own insecurities, and as a mother, the best thing you can do for her is to allay her fears. Help her by giving her a feng shui boost – get her the Luo Han with Qi Lin, which will boost study and academic luck. Place in her room or in the West sector of your home. Make sure that when she sits at her work desk, she is facing one of her good directions – and also that she sleeps with her head pointed to one of her auspicious directions. Th is is very important. Since she is a Metal Dragon, her Kua is 6 and she is West group; her lucky directions are West, NE, SW and NW. Display a cluster of smooth crystal balls in the center of your living room to promote harmonious energies in the home. In 2018, the quarrelsome star is in the NE; keep this area of the home quiet and place a pair of red Tzi Chi Kau here to quell the hostile energies here. Try to make sure your daughter’s bedroom is not in the NE this year. You might want to investigate possibilities of another bedroom for her? And try giving her a hug every once in awhile?

LUCKY COLOUR THIS YEAR

Q What is the lucky colour for Year of The Dog?

A This year 2018 is missing Metal energy, so all colours that represent the Metal element are considered lucky this year. These are white, silver and gold. You can also interpret it to mean that metallic colours are also lucky – e.g. rose gold, metallic blue, metallic green… lots of options!

MISSING SOUTHWEST CORNER

Q What is the best remedy for a missing corner in SW?

A The Southwest represents the matriarch, the mother, so it is important to have this sector and to have it always strong and powerful. When your SW sector is missing, light up that corner of the home to extend the energy outwards… this will help to recreate the missing energy here. Keep the light on through the day and night! Create noise in that sector too such as having the television in the room near the SW and hang a Parasol Dharmachakra windchime here to activate luck from heaven for the Matriarch in the corner near what would be the SW. You should also ensure the SW corners of all the major living and public areas of your home are well-enhanced. Give the SW prominence, display auspicious objects and imagery in this sector.

DO FAKE FLOWERS CAUSE BAD FENG SHUI?

Q “My husband likes to buy artificial flowers to decorate the house with. I remember you mentioned before that artificial flowers shouldn’t be kept in the house. Kindly advise, thank you.

A There’s nothing quite like fresh flowers to bring vibrant yang Wood energy into the home, but if your husband prefers artificial ones due to not having to change them so often, there’s nothing wrong with this either, especially these days when so many of the artificial flowers look so real and beautifully done. It is just important not to display dried flowers! Do make sure that when these flowers start to collect dust, you wipe the petals clean. Dirty flowers conjure up stale energies – not at all good for the feng shui of the home! Similarly, even with real flowers, the minute they start to wilt, it is time to change them. Don’t keep wilting flowers in the home. What is really bad are dead flowers; potpourri fall under this category. They are scented dead flowers designed to release nice smells into the air – but they represent dead yin energy, so these are best avoided in yang homes.

CLASHING FEMALE ENERGY

Q “My wife, mother and sister are all strong personalities. My mother and sister do not get along with my wife, no matter how much she does for them. In their opinion, she is always wrong and they find cause to nit-pick and find fault. It disturbs me because they challenge each other’s self-respect. My wife and I live overseas, but every time my family visits, there is unpleasantness. Now the relationship is strained, and they won’t even speak on the phone. There was a misunderstanding and the fault was my mother’s; but she has taken it to a whole new level, stating that only my wife needs to apologise if she wants to make things better. My wife is not going to give in. I want to know if there is a cure to mend the relationship, or is there something that I can check or do in my house to make the relationship between them better?”

A Oh dear. What are their animal signs? Are they clashing signs? If they are 6 signs apart, then there would be greater probability of their not getting along. If they are astrological adversaries, you can ask your wife to carry as an amulet the “secret friend” of your mother’s animal sign to help improve relations between them. If your mum is a Rat, ask your wife to carry an Ox amulet. And so on.

Here’s the table of secret friends:

Rat Ox
Tiger Boar
Rabbit Dog
Dragon Rooster
Snake Monkey
Horse Sheep

You can also improve relationship luck within your home by displaying six smooth crystal balls in the center of your living room. Also check where the annual quarrelsome star is located – this year 2018, it lies in the Northeast. Install the cure against the quarrelsome star here – a red apple with peace symbol, a pair of bejeweled Red Tzi Chi Kau, or a Red Eagle with Jade Disc. These are all tried and tested cures that work really well. When your family next come to visit, check where the #3 month star has flown to, and keep that part of the home as quiet as possible. Or place the Red celestial Fu dogs as a cure!
