SECRETS TO MULTITASKING SUCCESS
1 SET DAILY TARGETS:
Nothing works better than to train your mind to work towards a deadline for everything you need to accomplish in any day; a self imposed schedule to get everything done is the key to upping your productivity; set clear goals. This is the powerful motivating factor that gets the adrenaline going! At the end of the day give yourself a pat on the back for accomplishing everything set out.
2 DON’T GET DISTRACTED:
Stay on track. Be stern with yourself and be aware of the time you take to complete all your set tasks. Visualized everything in your head what needs to get done. Do not let anyone or anything distract you. Close your door, work from home if you must and do not respond to emails or phone messages when working on something important. Allow time for meeting, managing, socializing etc but never succumb to interruptions when working. When working on something that requires concentration turn off notifications; silence your cell phone and email. Stay focused as you work and complete your task before moving on to the next. If you can, do two or three tasks at the same time do so, BUT stay focused!
3 TAKE REGULAR PRODUCTIVE BREAKS:
This is a sure fire productivity booster. Increase your mental stamina by working to set time frames followed by breaks. Work for an hour and forty minutes at a stretch then take a twenty minutes break. This makes the mind work at optimum concentration levels. You can separate the brain work from the rest work. Multi taskers are great at taking productive breaks!
4 AVOID MENTAL FATIGUE:
When work involves too much mental energy, give yourself a rest. Get up from your seat, take a walk round the office and better yet go outdoors to breathe in some fresh air. This is such a productivity improver and such a smart way to multi task. Often so much of our daily tasks do not require full time concentration. The key is to mentally separate them so daily productivity increases.
5 DEVELOP THE STRATEGIZING HABIT:
Give yourself some alone time each day to do your thinking. The Strategizing habit is so worthwhile developing because it just saves you so much time! Plus it makes you so much more effective in accomplishing so much more.
6 REDUCE NUMBER OF MEETINGS:
Never schedule meetings for the sake of having meetings especially when just a note, an email or a phone call can achieve the same purpose. This frees up your time to do other things.
7 PLAN AHEAD:
Think through in advance when you need to meet on something. Plan your key points and then stick to your schedule. Never allow 30-minute meetings turn into hour-long sessions. Remember, time is valuable for productive multi tasking.
8 ALLOCATE TIME ACCORDING:
This last bit of advice is the most vital. Allocate your time according to your own priority of importance. Not enough people are pro active and instead work their way through their lives reacting to people, events and so forth. To boost your productivity make sure you call the shots when it comes to what you do and how much time you spend on everything you do. And as with all things make a habit of allocating your time and setting your own schedule so that in no time at all it simply becomes a part of how you do things your way.
THREE THINGS TO REMEMBER
- When you want something go after it. If you do not go after it you will never have it.
- If you want something form someone ASK. If you do not ask the answer to the question in your head is NO!
- Never be afraid to take the next step. If you never step forward you will surely never move ahead.
