THE TAI SUI OF 2025 – GENERAL WU SUI
The Tai Sui ruling the Year of the Wood Snake

The Tai Sui or God of the Year is one of the most important indications Feng Shui practitioners take note of each year because he is believed to have a major influence on the luck of ALL homes and animal signs. When you have Tai Sui on your side, you enjoy great mentor, benefactor and support luck, but when you incur the Tai Sui’s wrath, you could suffer all kinds of obstacles and difficulties, which is why it is extremely important that everyone pays homage to him every year.

In 2025, the Tai Sui takes up residence in the Snake’s compass location of Southeast 3 (SE3).

To gain his support, place the Tai Sui Plaque in this area. Keep this part of the home as quiet as possible. Do not play loud music or have a television here. If you are planning renovations, this area should not be touched.

Also, DO NOT FACE SOUTHEAST in 2025, as facing this direction is considered confronting the Tai Sui. Ensure all seating arrangements in the home and office face elsewhere, EVEN if SE is your lucky direction based on your KUA number.

Additionally, it is believed that Tai Sui supports the animal sign in the compass location where the Tai Sui moves to for the year. In 2025, this is the Snake. This brings good tidings for the Snake, but it is not given freely. The Boar meanwhile confronts the Tai Sui, causing severe obstacles to success if the Tai Sui is not appeased. The Tiger and Monkey are in “Side-Conflict” with the Tai Sui, suggesting that minor aggravations and obstacles are likely to occur. All four of these astrology signs MUST carry the 2025 Tai Sui Amulet to win his support and to manifest their full potential.

In addition to displaying the year’s Tai Sui Plaque with his image in his designated location and carrying his image and talisman as an amulet, it is a common practice for those in any kind of conflict with Tai Sui to pay homage to him at a temple where his image is displayed. This ritual is typically performed at the beginning of each new year to seek his protection and favour.

THE INFLUENCE OF THE TAI SUI IN 2025

There are 60 different Tai Suis, each one presiding over one year in a 60-year cycle. Each Tai Sui is represented by a distinguished general from Ancient China, with the qualities of that general influencing the type of luck we can expect for the year. In the Year of the Wood Snake, we have General Wu Sui taking the mantle, shaping the fortunes and challenges of 2025.

GENERAL WU SUI – Wise & Compassionate

General Wu Sui was a scholar and magistrate during the Song Dynasty, renowned for his keen intellect and ability to solve even the most complex cases. His reputation for thoroughly analyzing evidence made him highly sought after by other magistrates who often requested his assistance. As a result, he was promoted to governor of Xiuning County.

During his tenure, a severe drought struck the region. General Wu Sui, determined to help his people, spent three days and nights praying at the temple. His prayers were answered, and rain fell on his county, while neighboring regions remained parched, leading to famine and chaos. Despite fires and looting in surrounding areas, Wu Sui’s county thrived. Through tax exemptions and relief efforts, he maintained peace and stability, making his province a rare haven of order during a time of widespread suffering.

With General Wu Sui as the Tai Sui for 2025, the year may bring challenges related to resource scarcity, potentially driven by natural disasters or conflict. The hostile #3 Star residing in the Patriarch’s sector (NW) further highlights the possibility of turmoil. We may see large populations displaced, seeking better living conditions, yet there is also hope for the rise of a compassionate leader who can guide people through these hardships. This makes 2025 a year where the protection and guidance of the Tai Sui is invaluable. Harmony amulets will be especially beneficial in maintaining peace and stability during these uncertain times.

To many Chinese, Mid Autumn Festival (or Mooncake Festival) is the next most important celebration after Chinese New Year.

Held on the 15th day of the 8th month of the Lunar Calendar at the time of the full moon, it marks the end of the Autumn harvest, and a time to give thanks to Change-Er, the Moon Goddess of Immortality. This year, Mid Autumn Festival falls on Sept 17th, 2024.

On this brightest of nights, the Moon Goddess is believed to make her annual appearance, bestowing blessings of a good harvest, peace, safety and love. The full moon symbolizes prosperity, completion and togetherness. Family members travel home from far and wide to gather for a meal and spend the evening looking at the full moon (shang yue), lighting paper lanterns and eating mooncakes.

Women set up outdoor altars to offer food and incense, and young singles, inspired by the love story of the Mood Goddess, head out to mingle in the hope she brings them the match of their dreams.

Here are some great ways to boost your good fortune this Mid Autumn Festival.

1. USE “ROUND” or “CIRCULAR” shaped offerings

When praying to the Moon Goddess, make sure your altar faces the moon and that your offerings are round-shaped. This encapsulates the Chinese saying “Zhu Shi Yuan Man”, which signifies everything ending on a good note. Round fruits with auspicious meanings such as apples (Ping Ping An An) and oranges (Da Ji Da Li) are especially popular. Don’t forget to include the most crucial offering, the mooncake! Arrange in sets of 13 to represent the 13 months of the Lunar Calendar.

2. GOOD TIME FOR SOCIALIZING

Mid Autumn is a particularly auspicious day for social networking. The Chinese go visiting bearing mooncakes as gifts to promote closer ties and greater harmony. You can strengthen affinities with your friends and build rapport with the people you work with by celebrating the festivities together. Who knows, you may even meet a potential life partner in the process!

3. AUSPICIOUS DAY TO PRAY TO YUE LAO

Temples of the God of Love and Marriage, Yue Lao, often see throngs of single bachelors and bachelorettes offering incense and prayers. This God of Love is often depicted with a red silk thread that he uses to “tie” potential couples together. Those in search of a soul mate can invoke his blessings, for him to “connect you to a good partner”. How? Obtain a red string by making an offering of an “angpau” (red packet with money inside) to the temple, then say a prayer with your personal details like name, date of birth, address and wishes. After praying, wear the red string around your wrist to signify your wish.

4. DISPLAY FRESH PLANTS & FLOWERS

Bring auspicious chi into the home by showcasing your loveliest potted flower arrangements. Avoid thorny plants such as roses and cacti, as this will shun away Nobleman Benefactor (Gui Ren) luck. Those lucky enough to have a garden should ensure it is properly maintained, ready to welcome the bright night sky of Mid Autumn.

5. CLEAN UP THE HOME

Make sure your home is clean and tidy, especially your most used spaces like your living and dining room, where you spend a lot of time. Fix or replace anything that is not working.

6. ORGANISE A PARTY

Moon Festival is often celebrated with family (direct and extended) but can also be celebrated with friends. When you create a lot of yang chi during the night of this Full Moon, you activate its energies, for a good harvest (which in today’s world also means a stable income), friendship and of course, for love!

Mid-Autumn Festival which falls on the night of September 17th in 2024 is a combination of traditional rituals and cultural festivity. As the full moon shines bright, it illuminates the path towards good luck, prosperity and happiness.

This guide will walk you through how to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival, including ways to attract good luck and enhance prosperity.

Mid-Autumn Festival, known as 中秋節 in Chinese, holds a rich history and is deeply ingrained in Chinese culture and tradition. This festival which represents family togetherness and happiness falls on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, which is when the moon is at its fullest and brightest.

It is said to have originated from the Shang Dynasty as a harvest festival. It became an officially recognized celebration during the Tang Dynasty, and its significance has grown since.

Preparing Your House for Celebrating Mid-Autumn

  • Start by cleaning and decluttering your home, getting rid of items that are damaged, no longer needed or unused. Creating an open and tidy space invites positive Yang energy to flow freely into your home. As you clean, open your windows and doors to allow fresh air and light to circulate. You can also perform a simple incense space-clearing ritual to loosen and remove any stagnant or negative chi. This revitalizes your environment and attracts new opportunities into your life.
  • Decorate the outside of your home with red lanterns with auspicious syllables or use vibrant multicolored lanterns. On the night of the full moon, light these lanterns with candles to draw in good fortune and ward off negative energies.
  • Prepare desserts and snacks for your family, friends and neighbors. It is tradition to make some “tong sui” otherwise known as “tim tong” (糖水; lit. ’sugar water’) – a kind of sweet dessert soup. Popular tong sui includes – black sesame soup, chilled hasma (made from dried frog organs), red bean soup, mung bean soup, peanut paste, sweet potato soup and others.
  • The festival is not complete without moon cakes. When choosing moon cakes, select those with auspicious wordings and of a circular shape, as this represents unity and completeness. While there are many types of moon cakes available today, the most auspicious are those filled with lotus seed paste and salted egg yolks. Lotus seeds represent regrowth and new opportunities, while egg yolks represent fertility, abundance and new beginnings.

Rituals and Traditions

  • Celebrations start on the eve and continues past midnight when prayers are made to Lord Yue Lao as well as to the Chinese Goddess of the moon Chang’e and the Jade Rabbit. As this day also coincides with the birthday of “Lord Yue Lao”, the Chinese God of Love and Marriage, it an auspicious day for single bachelors and bachelorettes to offer him incense and prayers. It is believed that praying to “Lord Yue Lao”will help you tie the red knot of affinity between you and a suitable life partner. Prayers can also be offered to Chang’e, known as the Moon Goddess of Immortality for good health, long life, and to stay young and beautiful.
  • It is traditional for children to accompany their parents and family members on a walk round the neighborhood with lighted lanterns. This practice is believed to create unity and to strengthen and widen friendships with neighbors and the community.
  • Invite neighbors and friends over to your home for a meal or simply to enjoy desserts and drinks together. This tradition of having guests over not only fosters stronger relationships but is believed to attract prosperity and Nobleman Luck. Additionally, sharing mooncakes with them symbolizes wishing them good fortune and long life.

Feng Shui Tips for Mid-Autumn Festival

Celebrating the Moon Festival and embracing its rituals and traditions is a wonderful way to harness the festival’s energy, enhancing prosperity, happiness and good fortune.

  • Activate the Moon Corners of your Home: In Feng Shui, the moon symbolizes Yin energy, which is calming, healing and nurturing. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, focus on energizing the Southwest sector of your home, as it is linked to the Moon and Yin energy. Keep this area well-lit and place the 9 Dragons Plaque here. The SW this year is also home to the powerful number 9 star, which makes energizing this part of the home exponentially auspicious.
  • Balance of Five Elements: Try to incorporate the 5 elements of Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water into your festival decoration. For instance, mooncakes (Earth) on a metal tray (Metal), next to a bowl of water (Water) with floating candles (Fire) and a plant (Wood) ensures a well-rounded presence of all 5 elements.
  • Use of suitable colors: In feng shui, colors play a significant role in attracting positive energies. During the Mid-Autumn Festival, use colors that align with the energy of autumn and the Metal element associated with this season. White, gold and silver are excellent choices for decorations, tableware or clothing.
  • Harmony in the Dining Area: Ensure the dining area is clean and lit with candles to stimulate the flow of positive energy. Additionally, placing bowls of oranges or apples are symbolic of the full moon and brings peace and harmony.
  • Outdoor Spaces: If you have an outdoor space, do try to make use of it during the Mid-Autumn Festival. Watching the moon outdoors while having a meal or snacks not only connects you with nature but taps the power of the moon, and invites fresh, positive chi into your life.
  • Tap the Power of the Moon: Place a bowl of water under the moonlight to absorb its energy. This moon-charged water can be used for washing your face to bring you improved beauty and attraction.

The Hungry Ghost Month this year starts from the 4th August till 2nd September 2024 so the Chinese believe many hungry ghosts will wander around the human realm bringing accidents, illness and misfortunes. This is a time when the Gates of Hell are wide open and spirits and ghosts from the Hell realms will roam freely on Earth to “seek food and entertainment” – all at the expense of humans. During the full moon of this month, night of the 17th and 18th of August 2024,  it is also customary to make offering to the wandering spirits and ancestors by burning joss paper, various paper merchandise, incense as well as various food offerings on the area just outside of their homes as an attempt to appease wandering spirits nearby and discourage them from bringing problems to the family. If you are walking around the neighbourhood, you should make sure that you do not accidentally kick or knock over any of the offerings made during the night of the full moon as doing so may bring the wrath of a wandering spirit on you.

There are a number of taboos practiced by different ethnic Chinese groups during this month long period, and we list here the main taboos to stay safe during this dark period.

  • You must not hang your clothes outside after sunset during this month. It is believed that the shape of your clothes attract visiting spirits, who will gladly come over to ‘borrow’ your garments for the night. By doing so they will leave behind their misfortune-inducing aura on your clothes.
  • You should not lean against a cool-looking wall mural or having it as a clean background when taking Instagram photos. It is believed that walls, especially corners and alleyways are hotspots for ghostly gatherings. To be safe, it is better not to take any photographs after sunset throughout this month.
  • You should not stay out late at night (especially pregnant women and young children)
  • You should not to go swimming in the sea, rivers or lakes.
  • Avoid visiting someone in the hospital
  • You should not to wait alone under a tree or bus stop after sun down.
  • You must not to pick up any money or coins that you come across on the road.
  • At night, if you hear someone call your name, do not turn your head around, but instead wait for the call to repeat, and on the 3rd time, stop and turn your whole body to see who is calling out to you, just in case it is a wandering spirit calling out to you.
  • It is also forbidden to tap someone on their head or shoulders during this month as by doing so may weaken the spiritual lights that everyone has which can then make them vulnerable to being affected by wandering spirits.
  • Last but not least, try not to take the last bus or train home after work during this month as it is believe that it is usually filled with many invisible visitors.

A little known fact from a Paht Chee perspective is the Star of Yin Gate. Print out your Paht Chee Chart and look for the animal in your Day pillar, then from the table, identify the animal that represents the Star of Yin Gate, then look at your Hour pillar, and if you have that corresponding animal, you possess this star.

If your chart indicates that you have this star then it is forbidden for you to attend funerals save that of close relatives. It is also not recommended that you visit anyone that is seriously ill in the hospital. This is because the Star of Yin Gate makes it very easy for you to offend the spirits of the recently deceased. The Chinese believe that there are two torches of fire on top of each your shoulders and these torches are meant to ward off spirits and spiritual influences. So when you have the Star of Yin Gate, it means that your fires are very dim to the point of almost going out, thus rendering you very vulnerable to spiritual attack. So if you have this star in your chart, you should wear or carry protective amulets such as Prayer Wheel Pendants, or the 28 Hums or Nightspot keychain.

Drinking tea can be quite an art form. The ritual of preparing tea can have a hidden impact on your good fortune, as tea releases propitious energy into your home. It was in Chengdu that I discovered that the tea brewing ritual evolved from an ancient belief that pouring freshly-brewed tea onto specially-made clay images of auspicious items such as the rolling ball (which signifies continuous good fortune) and to auspicious creatures such as the farmer’s cow or the pi yao – plus a whole lot of other lucky symbols – was in actual fact an excellent way of unlocking their inner auspiciousness.

Indeed, we were all so charmed by the simple truths being explained to us by the charming young ladies in the tea supply shop we stayed for hours! And after that, between us, we practically bought up her shop’s supply of lucky objects, we were so happy! We were mesmerized by the clay ox that had been “grown” by them over several months, using tea to create a special shine to the ox; this was done by pouring freshly brewed tea over the ox. The tea left a thin veneer of red, which over time got ingrained into the ox, hence its beautiful detail and shine.

Hundreds of lucky clay symbols to choose from to add to one’s personal tea tray.

This was how they could ensure the clay ox could unlock its inner energies of abundance. They then pointed to other auspicious objects in the tea tray, before the tea lady started to show us how the tea was brewed. The water should be boiled to about 1000C. It was first necessary to pour hot water over all the cups, jug and pots, and this was basically to wake up the tea set before filling the clay tea pot with fresh tea leaves.

Always use the same teapot unless you are a collector of teapots and have special ones for special occasions or for different purposes. Place the tea into the teapot, and then pour the freshly boiled hot water into the pot. Leave for about twenty seconds or so, then pour away this first dousing of boiling water. Pour it over the auspicious objects already placed on the large tea tray… and think… “with this first pouring of tea, I shall awaken the good fortune hidden within my inner essence”.

Auspicious clay symbols lined up for the tea ritual.

You can see from the picture of the tea tray above that there can be as many different auspicious objects as you like. Here on this lady’s tray can be seen a pig (she was born in the year of the pig and hence its presence here is to awaken her personal luck). There is also an object showing two dragons offering the red rolling ball – this is said to be very lucky indeed, as the rolling ball indicates continuous good fortune; then you can see the groundnuts which bring growth luck, the ingot which brings prosperity, the lions to offer protection and the Pi Yao with a coin in its mouth. We had such a fun time investigating ALL their auspicious objects!

The tea is left to brew for several minutes. It is then poured onto a clay or glass jug from where the tea will then be poured onto the small clay cups and offered to the guests. When the teapot has been emptied of the first infusion, hot water is again poured onto the leaves to make a second infusion.

We were advised that when pouring in the hot water, we must always pour enough for the water to overflow, as this is a very auspicious sign. Water overflowing from the teapot indicates an abundance of wealth luck. Altogether, the tea leaves should be of a quality that can offer as much as seven infusions of tea. And after the tea colour has thinned out, it is time to wind up, or if you want more, to discard the old tea leaves and place fresh tea leaves into the pot.

Note that the pot and cups should never be washed with soap. They are always washed with boiling water and left in the tea tray. When the tea drinking is over, the tray collecting water from all the washing and drenching is then discarded. Tea stains are always left on the cups, the pot and the auspicious objects. This is what gives a continuity of good fortune!

WHY DRINK TEA?

Well brewed hot Chinese tea helps the body settle after a good meal; it is an excellent way to still the mind, enabling you to rid your body of tension. Offering tea to elders is also a sign of respect. It is the nicest way possible to apologize or to convey gratitude to one’s parents. Drinking good well-brewed tea after a good dinner adds good chi to any celebration. Over the years then, the art of tea drinking has become synonymous with joyous occasions.

The Chinese Wedding Tea Ceremony officiates the union of a couple.

In the present day, the most important occasion when serving and drinking tea is taken most seriously is during the tea ceremony at weddings. That is when the bride and groom use the tea offering to signify their respect for their parents and their elders.

Drinking tea over a chess game is a traditional past time that strengthens friendship bonds.

To the older generation, sitting down to share a pot of tea with a friend is very meaningful as this transcends the superficial. It signifies more than two friends being sociable; to those who understand the deeper meanings associated with the ritual, the seemingly relaxed way of preparing the tea signifies that good feng shui is maintained in the relationship.

Sitting down to share several pots of tea evokes the philosophical concepts of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism – the three Pillars of classical Chinese culture, so in itself, drinking tea is already a great way to socialize. Add the extra dimension of good feng shui and it becomes something beautiful to do together.

When you sit down to enjoy several cups of ceremonially brewed tea with me, we will be surrounded by many auspicious objects. You will participate with me in a ritual which takes on an empowering dimension. This is a potent Taoist secret long practised by ancient masters. I could not wait to start practising once I learnt it. The ritual is full of promise and I have incorporated it into my typical day. I have watched with fascination as my auspicious Laughing Buddhas and rolling balls come alive.

Now I know that preparing and enjoying good Chinese tea that has been brewed in a special pot, with water boiled to the correct temperature, using excellent tea leaves to create the mood required and served with specially-fired clay cups can be transformed into a powerful way of “growing the abundance of your home” simply by incorporating artfully-crafted auspicious celestial creatures and carefully selected auspicious objects that awaken good fortune for the household. The operative word here is “awaken”; making the luck represented by these auspicious come alive. Grow them to maturity and watch your luck grow alongside!

USEFUL TIPS IN TEA DRINKING

  • Attitude – When you perform the tea brewing ceremony, you should have a joyous demeanour. You must relax and exude a calm disposition. Never brew tea when you are angry or when your mind is disturbed. The energy that goes into the tea should be positive, optimistic and happy. Otherwise, let someone else make the tea!
  • Tea Selection – There are many kinds of tea being sold. Some are made from old leaves, some from young, some are blended into a mix, some are pure, and some are fermented then kept to mature. Each kind of tea has its own special fragrance, taste and benefits. The popular teas of today are oolong and pu er tea. Today, the most popular is the green tea (such as ti koon yam) and the dark tea (pu er). But as I am not an expert on tea, you can be like me and seek advice from the experts. There are some excellent tea vendors in town and I am sure they can tell you a good story associated with each tea. Or you can google different kinds of tea. For me personally, I drink ten-year-old Pu Er tea given to me by friends of mine who live in China.
  • Use good water – The best quality tea leaves will have poor taste if bad quality water is used. Therefore, select pure, clean water to ensure a
    wonderful-tasting tea.
  • Selecting a good tea set – It is really vital to invest in a good tea tray, teapot and tea cups, and you should always brew your tea in a clay pot. You can use a glass jug to serve into the cups but do use good clay cups, so that the aroma of the tea emerges and wafts your nostrils and the temperature of the tea is just right, being neither too hot nor too cold. You can own several tea sets and I myself own three, one set for when I drink alone, one set for when there is just me and another friend, and a much larger set for when I have several people drinking tea with me.
  • Happy ambiance – It is nice to sit close together when drinking Chinese tea. This sets the intimate ambiance that can be so beneficial. A Chinese décor with a hint of Chinese landscape painting is helpful though not essential but you get the idea.
  • Practise your technique – It is easy to understand the basics for brewing tea. This is something that takes only a few minutes to learn, but it is only through practice that you can gain the confidence needed to brew a good cup of tea. Remember that it is lovely to adopt a graceful manner that should be reflected in your hand movements, your facial expression and your clothing.

Giving and receiving gifts is a wonderful exchange that shows we care. One would think that any gift that is given from the heart is good. Unfortunately, that is not always the case. An inauspicious gift is bad news no matter how noble your intentions are. Taken in a Feng Shui perspective, some things are worse compared to others. Here are the top 5 gifts you should never give to anyone.

1. Never Give Sharp Objects

Gifts of sharp objects are actually more popular than one would expect because most people don’t see them as such. Examples of sharp objects that are unsuitable as gifts include the following: blade, chainsaw, dagger, hunting knife, letter opener, penknife, scissors, Swiss Army knife, sword, etc.

There are a couple of reasons that make sharp items objectionable. Giving sharp objects as a gift will literally sever the friendship. As sharp objects are a natural source of malicious “killing breath” or Shar Chi, such gifts will result in you unintentionally sending bad luck to your friend.

2. Never Give Timepieces

In the West, timepieces are, in fact, quite well-liked as gifts. These include: alarm clock, wall clock, pocket watch, wristwatch, etc.

Timepieces measure the passage of time and this indirectly suggests a limited lifespan, which is very inauspicious. In Chinese (Cantonese), to give a clock or ‘soong joong’ sounds exactly like the Chinese term for attending a funeral, which is naturally very taboo.

3. Never Give Red Roses

Did you know that you should never give red roses? Long stemmed red roses with sharp thorns are terrible as gifts. The longer the stem and the sharper the thorns … the more the relationship will suffer. If you send your lover a bouquet of red roses – romantic and all – it will be the beginning of the end of the relationship.

It is better for you to give cream or pink roses. Feng Shui-wise, yellow roses work even better to help enhance that loving feeling. Remember to have the thorns removed before you deliver them to your lover.

Never send red and white roses to a loved one who is in hospital. These are so inauspicious that in hospitals all over UK, there is the tradition with regards to floral gifts from well-wishers. If bunches of red and white roses or any variety of flowers arrive for anybody, they throw the flowers away immediately and make sure none of them reach the patients. A gift comprising a bunch of red and white blooms are considered to be a DEATH WISH.

4. Never Give Shoes

In Chinese (Cantonese), the word for shoes, ‘hai’, sounds very much like a sigh. This is very inauspicious as it suggests much unhappiness. A gift of shoes to your friend would be akin to sending bad luck his/her way.

5. Never Give Handkerchiefs

Gifts of handkerchiefs are also traditionally frowned upon. This is because a handkerchief is used to wipe away sweat and tears, which suggests a lot of sadness and frustration. Giving handkerchiefs as gifts suggest that you anticipate him/her to be doing much crying in the future. This generates such an inauspicious chi.

Remedy For Your Predicament

What do you do if you have a really fantastic gift? Something that you know your friend will be truly ecstatic about? Well I have some good news for you. The Chinese have a simple remedy for sharp metal gifts that belong to the first category.

Ask for a coin or some change (make sure it is metal) before you present your gift to the recipient. This simple exchange symbolizes a “purchase”, instead of a “gift”. Since your friend symbolically “paid” for the item, it is no longer considered a “gift”. This uncomplicated remedy works only for sharp metal items.

If there is one part of the face that says a lot about a man, it is the shape, width and contour of his forehead. If his is a high impressive forehead that is wide and clear, the man is likely to achieve a great deal in life. He possesses high intellect and great forbearance. Such will be a man of courage, big vitality and great stamina. If he has the opportunity to pursue educational and political aspirations, such a man will rise to high office in either field.

In a woman, the same forehead indicates strength and stamina, but here there is a downside for few women can sustain the yang energy inherent in such a head. Instead, for women, a shorter narrower forehead is preferable as it suggests a happier, more meaningful life, one with room for the matriarchal energy to be nurtured.

The forehead is a yang aspect of the face. It represents the person’s strength of character and also indicates intelligence, creativity and educational attainments. Foreheads – their shape and contour – are also an indication of one’s relationship with parents.

According to many texts on ancient Chinese face reading, the forehead is the planet Mars on the face, indicating fire element and signifying trigram Li. So the natural colour of the forehead should be various shades of red. Foreheads that are tinged red to pink and which show a radiant glow suggest positive characteristics, while yellow and sallow looking foreheads suggest some imbalance and are thus negative indicators.

Wrinkles and lines on the forehead indicate experience. Positive and good experiences are indicated when wrinkles are straight and unbroken. Negative indications are when wrinkles look crooked or broken as if the wrinkles were forged from uncertainty and troubled experiences. Having said this, a clear forehead is to be desired as this is one of the best indicators of a clear mind with a capacity for good judgment.

Foreheads should never look dry and sallow. The most auspicious foreheads always look “plumped out”. So the modern discovery of botox is a great boon to the auspiciousness of faces. There is nothing wrong in getting cosmetic or medical help. If you subscribe to the theory that our face is our fortune, then using face creams to create a healthy looking forehead should be encouraged as part of a daily ritual.

SHAPES OF FOREHEADS

Tapered Foreheads

When such foreheads are also narrow, it suggests a very adventurous person. This is someone who will happily take risks and explore change. Sometimes they can be foolhardy. A tapered low forehead suggests someone impulsive and sorely lacking in good judgment. They need to think through decisions before plunging foolishly into new ventures or taking unnecessary risks. There is a tendency to make foolish decisions.

Square Foreheads

Foreheads that are square in shape and also high indicate good intellectual ability and excellent values. It is usually found in people with good family backgrounds and who possess outstanding mental faculties. Such people have truly awesome intellect, and they are often reliable. This feature is especially desirable in men.

Square foreheads that are moderately high suggest persons with strong intellectual capability with the potential to find success, although rarely do such people attain the highest levels of managerial positions. They shine as number two rather than as the leader. But they do possess outstandingly sound practical instincts. They make incredibly loyal and reliable subordinates. This kind of forehead is most desirable for women as it indicates someone with outstanding home-making skills.

When the forehead is square but short, it indicates a difficult start in life, but with a good effort success is possible. The square forehead suggests a person with a big dose of common sense and good character. Success however comes in later life.

Round Foreheads

High, rounded foreheads (especially with no scars, moles or indentations) indicate someone with a peaceful and friendly nature. Such a person probably enjoyed a pleasant childhood. These individuals are rarely interested in achieving prominence. They are content with what they have and are not ambitious. This forehead is more desirable in a woman than in men.

A forehead that is rounded and moderately high suggests a timid person who is uncomfortable being adventurous. He/she is perfectly happy with a sedentary existence. They are uncomfortable with change and will not make any effort to alter their life situation. If you read this as lacking in ambition you would be correct.

Rounded foreheads that are low indicate a poor start in life.

CONTOURS OF FOREHEADS

Straight foreheads

that are high, straight and flat when observed from the side, and which extends straight down from the hairline to the brow bone indicates someone with strong character and impressive intellectual power. But there is a tendency to be dogmatic and even stubborn. From a young age this person has very fixed views on a variety of issues. They dislike change unless initiated by them, and they are paranoiac about stability and security. When the forehead is straight and flat but low, it suggests someone who has to work hard during the younger years. For such a person, nothing comes easy.

Domed foreheads

appear rounded and full from the side. This forehead indicates a strong person who can adapt to circumstances. This is their great strength. In a woman, the domed or rounded forehead indicates someone who can find success in the performing field. They tend to be passionate and romantic and are capable of being sexually vulnerable. So they are advised to beware strangers bearing gifts or flattery.

Sloping foreheads

indicate a restless and foolhardy person who would benefit from discipline and the presence of a strong guiding hand. In a woman this forehead is not a good indication especially if it is dry and lacking in moisture. Better to use bangs in the hair or wear a fringe.

Bulging foreheads

that stick out from the hairline suggest someone with excessive energy and drive. In some people, this comes across as restlessness and being out of touch with reality, but in others, this can spell success and great achievement. This forehead type brings much better luck for women than for men.

Counterfeit WOFS products are not something new, but we feel it is important to highlight again the dangers that come with purchasing feng shui items from questionable sources, especially if they are cures meant to protect you and your loved ones from harm.

Feng shui is all about energy and every physical object displayed in the home, whether remedies or enhancers, or just placed around for their aesthetics and beauty, MUST give out loving energy; they must have been created with the pure motivation to benefit someone or to make someone feel good and happy. When these objects are spiritual cures containing mantras and magic syllables meant to protect one from harm, this requirement becomes even more important.

Beware when something is sold impossibly cheap. Copycat products are often of inferior quality, and they can bring bad energy into the home when they are made with dishonorable intentions. And if they are “stolen” products, i.e. products stolen from someone else and then sold to you, they definitely carry even more negativity than you realize. Hence, badly made fakes and copycat products hastily put together with cheap materials are not effective at all as feng shui remedies and enhancers. In fact, they may do more harm than good.

Take for example this comparison between a copycat product (left) and a genuine product (right) from WOFS. If you zoom into the image, you will notice the mantra on the left product is barely legible, instantly rendering it ineffective. That the WOFS trademarked logo is missing is also a dead giveaway that the product is fake. No amount of savings is worth taking a gamble on your luck like that!

All the prayer wheels, sacred jewellery, protection amulets, accessories and plaques designed by WOFS contain powerful mantras and syllables. Each of the prayer wheel pendants that we produce, for instance, contain a million mantras of the Compassionate Buddha in microfilm that were specially ordered from Phoenix, Arizona. This is the only way anyone can fit a million mantras into such a small pendant. The rolling of these mantras must also be carefully done, as the mantras must not be placed inside the wheel upside down.

Imagine our horror some years back when we discovered copycat prayer wheel pendants containing blank paper being sold! Prayer wheels are sacred objects and the mantras inside MUST be regarded with great reverence. To wear a prayer wheel that is empty brings harm to the wearer, so don’t ever make this mistake!

This is the same for our feng shui wallets, wall plaques and wish granting jewels. In fact, all products with empowering mantras on them MUST be carefully checked to make sure there are no mistakes, so be very discerning when shopping for all your lucky symbols and sacred products. Remember that the underlying energies that come with any product may be invisible, but they are there, and you want whatever energy they are carrying to be positive.

One way to make sure the feng shui items you bring into your home are effective at attracting good fortune or affording protection is to get them from our flagship store in Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur, or from our official online store, www.fsmegamall.com. You can also get in touch with any one of our authorized global business partners near you.

It is an excellent idea to re-energize all the decorative feng shui items you place in your home to attract good fortune regularly. This can be done by cleaning them with a damp cloth soaked in natural salt water, or by moving them around, and if they are items of a sacred nature, there is nothing better than to burn incense around them to strengthen their cosmic fields.

Practicing feng shui does not have to take a lot of effort. Small tweaks can have a big impact on the energies in your home, so if you don’t have much time on your hands but want a quick energy refresh, try these 5 simple tips!

DISPLAY THINGS IN SETS OF 9

There’s nothing luckier than displaying items in sets of 9 around the home. Doing so activates the auspicious energies of this very special number, which brings fame, wealth, completion, success and happiness. The number 9 is also the number of expansion, magnifying all the energies around it. Activating this number with enhancers like the 9 Dogs to Activate Prosperity, the 9 Magnificent Horses, and 9 Golden Taras brings this powerful number to life. You can also bring out your collection of cures and enhancers from storage and display them in groups of 9 to turbo-charge their potency.

FRUIT BOWLS SYMBOLIZE ALL KINDS OF GOOD THINGS!

Inject good fortune vibrations into your home on a regular basis by heading to the fruit section of your grocery store. Citrus fruits and pears are believed to attract wealth and prosperity; grapes and pomegranates symbolize fertility and descendants’ luck. Peaches signal youthfulness and immortality, while apples bring peace and harmony, and all of them will boost your vitamin C!There is no going wrong with a bowl of fruit in your kitchen, so put one together today!

If you have an aversion to real fruit, or you live in a country where it’s just impractical to keep out a bowl of fruit at room temperature, fake ornamental fruit work just as well! Great options here are 9 Golden Pears, or 9 Apples. Apples are especially effective this year in 2024, with the #3 quarrelsome star dominating the chart, as apples symbolize peace and are excellent for combating the conflict energies of the 3.

FRESH PLANTS & FLOWERS ACTIVATE GROWTH ENERGY

Plants and flowers bring powerful growth energy into the home. But they must be vibrant and healthy to supply life-enhancing chi effectively. Groom them and care for them, and they will reward you with an outpouring of appreciation, and GOOD LUCK! Cut flower stalks do not last as long as potted ones, so once they start wilting, do replace them, or what was once growth energy will turn quite quickly into decay.

INCENSE CAN KEEP HARMFUL SPIRITS AT BAY

Burning incense does more than add a beautiful aroma to your home. It purifies the energies and clears negativity. It keeps harmful spirits out and creates a peaceful atmosphere, allowing you to de-stress and relax after a busy day. It can also, depending on the incense blend that you choose, attract auspicious vibrations of health, wealth, love and harmony.

NOTHING LIKE HAVING GUESTS OVER TO REVITALISE STAGNANT ENERGY

The bustle of having people over fills the home with new Yang energies. Invite close friends and family over to share a meal; exchanging gifts at the end will boost happiness quotients as well. When you allow good music and joyful conversations to shake up any stagnant chi, you maximize the good fortune potential of your home and all the residents living within it. Do this often and your home will always be brimming with lucky vibes.
