Stress comes from anxiety, fear, guilt and pressure. It is basically a self-evident inability to cope accompanied by a deteriorating sense of self-worth. The inability to cope with stress directly affects our sense of well being, happiness and feng shui.

It causes headaches, earaches, toothaches, chest pains, palpitations, skin rashes and butterflies in the stomach. Stress makes us hold our breath or breathe unevenly, gives us indigestion and diarrhea or causes constipation. Stress leads to an inability to speak coherently and remember basic facts and a tiredness that is not in proportion to our workload.

Test Yourself

Your journey into self-discovery must take into account the stress level under which you operate. Look within to see what causes you to feel stressed. Consider the following stress-inducing situations and see if anything is causing you anxiety.

  1. Are you feeling inadequate at work?
  2. Are you feeling inadequate in your love life?
  3. Do you compare yourself unfavorably with your peers?
  4. Are you dissatisfied with your marriage?
  5. Are you having cash flow problems?
  6. Are you in danger of losing your job?
  7. Are you feeling bored?
  8. Are you desperately afraid of something?
  9. Have you made a promise you cannot fulfill?
  10. Do you feel stuck in a stress cycle?

In attempting to dissect the causes of stress in your life, you will come to recognize your level of stress tolerance. Different people have different levels of tolerance. Invariably, the cause of all stress can be reduced to three sources:

  1. People around you who cause you to become emotionally stressed.
  2. External events which cause you to become physically stressed.
  3. Lifestyle-related issues that cause you to be psychologically stressed.

If you examine these three main causes of stress, you will see that they all have to do with the way your mind reacts. The key to dealing successfully with stress starts with pinpointing the root of stress. Everything that causes us to feel stressed comes from the mind.

5 Sure Ways To Cope With Stress

  1. Firstly, generate a sense of mental calmness. Slow down your reaction to people, events and circumstances that cause you stress.
  2. Secondly, learn to reverse the negatives in life.
  3. Thirdly, try some physical relaxation methods. Start with deep breathing exercises. Take up simple yoga, chi kung or a few stretching exercises.
  4. Fourthly, create powerful and positive word affirmations. Think up short, powerful statements that continually enhance your confidence, build you up and convince you of positive outcomes.
  5. Fifthly, try mental and creative visualization exercises. Picture yourself happy and relaxed, lying on a bench or going for a walk.

Ten Sure Ways To Relax

  1. Grip your hands very tightly so that your fingers dig deep into your palms and then release. Feel the release of tension.
  2. Tighten your forehead, close your eyes and contort your face into an ugly frown. Keep frowning until you can’t go any further and then release. Feel the tension lift instantly.
  3. Open your mouth as wide as your can and make it into a big O. Then, close it. Feel your facial muscles relax.
  4. Rub your hands together until they warm up, then place them flat against your face. Close your eyes and feel the relief.
  5. Place your palms flat against a wall and then push. Keep pushing until you cannot push any more and then release. Feel your arms release.
  6. Lie on your back and put your feet up. Feel the blood rushing to your head.
  7. Lie completely flat with your back to the floor and systematically flex and release every part of you. Start at the feet and move up through the leg, to the face and even your scalp. Feel tension drain out of you completely.
  8. While lying on your back, breathe in through the nostrils slowly and deeply. Feel the abdomen expanding like a balloon. Then slowly breathe out through the mouth and feel the abdomen flattening like a balloon releasing air. Visualize fresh, energizing chi flowing in and visualize stale, stagnant chi flowing out.
  9. While lying on your back, close your eyes and begin to daydream. Think pleasant thoughts and then visualize a positive outcome to something you are working on at the moment. Smile happily to yourself.
  10. Stretch your arms out horizontally, perpendicular to ground. Stretch them far out until you cannot stretch anymore. Then relax and feel the body relax.

The study of one’s Paht Chee chart can reveal many interesting secrets, not just about the level of your heaven luck – i.e. periods of your life that are fortunate, your inborn talents, your personality. It can also be used to gather information about the strength of your health as was described in last month’s issue. We know that each of the five elements stands one of the five Vital Organs of the human body. Missing elements or an excess of elements in our chart indicates the vital organ that we need to be aware of.

There is also the Yang and Yin elements of our Paht Chee chart. In an ideal scenario, we should have 4 or 6 yang elements in the chart. When there is excess of Yin elements, we need to modify out diet accordingly to compensate. Likewise, when we have an excess of Yang elements, we should consume more foods that are Yin in nature. Here we list foods that are Yang, and foods that are Yin.

YANG FOODS

Fruits – All kinds of Dark-Skinned Berries such as Cherries, Blueberries and Blackberries, Tomatoes, Kiwi, Dates, Peppers and Chilli.
Spices – Cardamons, Cinnamon,Cloves, Pepper Corns, Cumin, Coriander, Garlic and Onions.
Vegetables – All kinds of Green, Leafy Vegetables, Broccoli, Leeks, Spring Onions, Yams And Potato
Grains – Glutinous Rice, Calrose, Quinoa, and Oats
Beans – All types of Green Beans such as French Bean, Long Bean, Green Peas, Snow Peas, Asparagus.
Meat – Red Meats such as Beef, Lamb, Venison, Duck, Deep Sea Fish, Crabs, Prawns, Shellfish and Oysters.
Oils – Coconut, Butter and Animal Oils.
Beverage – Coffee, Dairy Milk and White Sugar.

YIN FOODS

Fruits – Banana, Melons, Squash, Cucumbers, all kinds of Citrus Fruit, Pomegranate, Bright Red Berries such as Strawberries and Raspberries.
Vegetables – Pale-coloured vegetables, Bok Choy, Cauliflower, Okra, Brinjals, Celery, Leeks, Mushrooms and Fungus.
Grains – Barley, Rice and Wheat.
Beans – Soy Beans, Lima beans, Red Beans, Chickpeas.
Meats – Fresh Water Fish, Prawns, Chicken.
Oils – Sesame Oil, Olive Oil, Corn Oil, Peanut Oil and other vegetable oils.
Beverage – Soy Milk , Tea, Honey and Maple Syrup.

As we can clearly see, her basket of elements is very unbalanced with missing Earth, a lack of Water and excessive Fire. In addition, her chart is totally missing Yang elements. What can we say about her chart? To begin with, the missing Earth indicates this would be someone who has problems with her spleen, which means that her natural immunity system can be weak. Furthermore, Earth also represents her stomach and cellular system. Missing Earth here can mean problems with cellular replication and cellular repair. A lack of Water means that her Kidney can be prone to infections, and since this is also affecting the thymus gland and lymph nodes, it further reduces her body’s natural defense mechanism.

For our body to stay healthy there is also need for balance between Fire and Water, and in her case, excessive Fire can mean possible high blood pressure and an imbalance between white and red blood cells. It is no wonder she has very strong worries of cancer, as this disease is very much related to cellular multiplication and our natural defense mechanism. In terms of her dietary habits, it is recommended that she avoids taking too much Yin foods, and focus her diet more on Yang foods, as this would help. She should also take supplements that support her kidneys, and drink more natural-based water such as plain water and coconut water. She should avoid drinking too much tea.

Kim Kardashian’s chart is missing Water, and she has an excess of Fire. Her Fire/Water balance is very poor and this indicates that her kidneys and natural cleansing and immunity are poor. Her blood and circulatory system could be unbalanced due to excessive Fire. This can be seen by her long term Psoriasis. A dietary recommendation for her is to take kidney tonics, as well as to up her intake of water. As for the balance of Yang and Yin, she would do well with a diet that leans more towards Yang, focusing more on green leafy vegetables, as the antioxidants contained will help her with her skin problem.

A Paht Chee analysis of your date of birth can be very helpful for finding answers to what can happen in your life. Apart from providing analysis on your career and wealth potential, and marriage prospects, it can also be used to help us understand our physical health condition. When used properly, we are able to better implement preventative measures to improve our health and strengthen our body.

The philosophy within Paht Chee is very similar to that used in Traditional Chinese Medicine. The 5 elements of Metal, Earth, Fire, Wood and Water are the basic components of the universe and hence, our body is also composed of the 5 elements. Traditional Chinese Medicine focuses on the 5 vital organs and this can be associated to the 5 elements. In addition, other body parts are also connected to one of the elements, as described in the chart below.

We need to have a good balance of the 5 elements in order to have good health. So if your chart has all 5 elements in balanced quantities, it can be said that you will have perfect good health. When there is imbalance, sickness will occur.

Let us say someone has 4 units of Metal in their chart and is missing Water. This means that Metal goes out of control since Water is missing. Since the vital organ associated with Metal are the Lungs, this could mean some kind of lung disease such as infections or even lung cancer. Water on the other hand represents the Kidney, and since Water is missing, it indicates there could be poor kidney function. Of course, the elements of the Ten Year Luck Pillars as well as the annual element of the current year will also play a part in affecting this person’s likelihood of getting lung or kidney disease.

In addition, we also need to see the relationships of elements in the heavenly stems, and this gives us more insight into the functional relationships among the various organs in your body. This then gives us the ability to trace the origins or root cause of sickness in the body.

The relationship of animals in the Earthly Branches can also indicate potential problems.

The above two tables provide us with the relationships between the various parts of the body, and this is most importantly seen in the Day Pillar of your chart. For example, if your heavenly stem is Yang Water and the Earthly Branch is Dragon, then we have Earth destroying Water. This indicates that your bladder functions are weak, which will affect your skin. Furthermore, there is a possibility of varicose veins in your legs, as this is also a function of your bladder function. There are possibilities of keliods in the skin around your chest area, and this becomes more pronounced if there is excessive Earth in your chart.

In addition to using Paht Chee, here are 3 effective methods to protect your health and strengthen your immunity.

1 SLEEP AT THE RIGHT TIME

According to the Chinese, the 24 hours that we have each day is governed by the 12 zodiac animals. Each animal takes care of 2 hours, thus giving us 12 time slots of 2 hours each. The day starts with the animal sign of the Rat and this corresponds to 11pm – 1.00am in the morning. It has been common practice in the Chinese culture that we should all be in bed asleep during this time period as it is during these 2 hours that our body carries out its daily maintenance and repairs. If you sleep late, this means that your body has little or no time at all to carry out proper maintenance and repair, thus leading to premature aging, and reduced resistance to illness.

2 HAVE DINNER BEFORE NINE

The Chinese also believe that our last meal of the day should be at least 2 hours before the start of the following day. This means that you should not eat any solid food after 9.00pm. This allows our stomach to do its job properly by passing on any solid food that we have eaten into our intestines for proper digestion. When you eat late, this means that not all of the food eaten is passed into the intestines and thus will go bad in the stomach. This leads to increased bloating, gas and other digestive ailments. It also allows for an imbalance in the intestinal flora, allowing unwanted bacteria to flourish.

3 NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST

Breakfast is not only our first meal of the day, it should be a complete and balanced meal that provides our body with all of the required daily nutrients. The most ideal time for having breakfast is within the hour of the Dragon, which is between 7.00am – 9.00am. Try your best to not to skip eating breakfast.

A PAHT CHEE HEALTH ANALYSIS: What he desperately needs is Wood element energy…

We can see from his chart that he has excessive Water and he is missing Wood. Thus, we know that Wood is what is needed in order to create balance in his chart. The Water element is indicative of the Kidney, and relates to the Thymus gland, tonsils, lymph nodes and bone marrow. When Water is excessive, his body’s natural immunity and toxin cleansing systems are on hyper drive. This of course can lead to many medical disorders such as Sarcoidosis, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s as well as a wide range of sickness caused by an overactive immunity response.

When we look at his Day Pillar, the heavenly stem here is Yin Water, further strengthened by the Yin Metal of the Rooster in the earthly branch. When you refer to the two tables, you will see that Yin Metal deals with the lungs, and the Rooster deals with the intestines and blood. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine point of view, this would mean that his lungs are overly strong, which weakens the intestines and also affects his blood. This combination further enhances the indication of immunity disorder, as the lungs are also very closely linked into the body’s general immune system. We can say that this health condition is one he was genetically born with, which can only be helped with the addition of Wood element.

When you look at his 10 Year Luck Pillars, you will notice that Wood element appears in the early years and ends when he past age 30. Once that Wood element is gone, his Parkinson’s Disease set in and progressively got worse. However, remember that he has a full set of allies (Ox, Snake, Rooster) and his secret friend the Rat to help protect him. When we see the following two luck pillars, they are governed by the Ox (age 31- 40) and the Rat (age 41 – 50) which of course bring him divine assistance, and help slow down the progression of his disease.

His current age of 54 means that he is about to end the first half of the next luck pillar, which has Yin Fire and Yin Water Boar. We know that his run of helpful good luck is coming to an end, and we see it in his acting career, where in 2013 and 2014 he appears only minimally. It is indeed sad, but based on his Paht Chee reading, it looks very much like we will continue to see less and less of him on the cinema screen as his Parkinson’s overcomes his health.

Before you begin wearing any of your gems, you should cleanse them thoroughly. Cleansing is a very important process of preparing your gems – be they precious or semi-precious – before using them for healing purposes. And I don’t mean just washing them with soap and water. You do not know where your gems had been before they got to your hands so it is very important to cleanse them of any negative energy that might have become attached to them.

The following are six methods you can employ to cleanse your gems. Any one of these methods works as well as the others. You can choose to use either one method you feel most comfortable with, or even a combination of two or more.

Method 1 : Use Running Water

Leave your gems under running water for six to seven hours. This method is one of the easiest and requires very little effort. Running water is, essentially, a very powerful method of cleansing.

Method 2 : Bury in Earth

Bury your gems in some earth overnight. Come morning, rinse them off thoroughly. This method will work well for those who have a nice patch of garden with lots of rich soil.

Method 3 : Cleanse With Fire

Hold your gem in the flame of a candle. Keep it in the flame until the candle melts away. The powerful cleansing properties of fire will help to clear all negative energy.

Method 4 : Revive With Quartz

Place your gem amongst a heap of quartz for several days. This method revives the inherent energy of your gem through contact with the quartz.

Method 5 : Energize With Sunlight

For best results, you should make use of the most powerful source of Yang energy to cleanse your gem. After using any one of the previous four methods of cleansing, place your “cleansed” gem in direct sunlight to further purify and energize it…

Method 6 : Immerse in Milk

In addition to the other five methods of cleansing, all gems – with the exception of red coral and ruby – should be immersed in raw milk for at least three hours to remove all impurities. Substitute with soapy water for your red coral, and put your ruby in lemon juice. Remember to keep your gem completely immersed for at least three hours, whatever the case. This method will effectively draw out all the impurities present in your gem and dissolve them altogether. Whatever the combination of methods you choose to apply, it is good practice to include both methods 5 & 6. Combined with any of the first four methods, the last two will ensure you’re your gems are completely “clean”.

In today’s helter-skelter world, there’s no time for labored health programs or overly-extensive workouts in your quest for looking and feeling good. What the modern person needs are quick fixes that work. Here’s a list that’s guaranteed to make you feel better in minutes!

1. GET YOUR DOSE OF B12

Vitamin B12 is the new buzzword amongst health-freaks. Studies have shown that up to 40% of us are lacking in B12, making us feel tired and cranky. In some deficiency cases, symptoms include mood swings, poor memory, sleeplessness and tingling in the arms and legs. Deficiency of B12 is especially common in vegans, vegetarians and those who eat little meat, fish or eggs. The newest and coolest solutions are the Vitamin sprays that help restore your energy fast. Two squirts under the tongue and you’re good as new, and there isn’t even any caffeine or alcohol involved! Check out the B12 Energy Booster (Mercola.com) or Shot-O-B12 (nutricentre.com).

SECRET: Lillian Too takes shots of B12 daily!! “Helps to keep me going forever,” she says.

2. SLIMMING POWDERS

Everyone wants to stay slim, and while looking good is a top reason not to overeat, overloading at lunchtime also makes you far less productive in the afternoon hours. Here’s where Slimsticks can help. Unlike other slimming solutions that pump up your metabolism to malfunctioning levels, or slimming teas that keep you running to the bathroom every 20 minutes, slimsticks come in convenient sachets you can mix into your water, tea or coffee anytime of the day! They come in packaging discreet enough to carry around in your handbag and can help you fight hunger pangs for up to 8 hours. As well as helping you stay slim, you’re bound to feel lighter, brighter and more energetic. Go to slimsticks.com for more info.

SECRET: Renee Zellweger is a fan.  Helps her get stick thin in days!

3.  BAREFEET WITHOUT GOING BARE

Recent research shows that the best footwear for running and fitness training could actually be wearing no footwear at all. But going barefoot while training or doing any kind of athletic sport has its own perils – broken glass, twigs and splinters among them. Vibram have come up with the solution. Its Five Fingers range of footwear fits like a glove over your foot, and provides all the benefits of going barefoot while averting the dangers of doing so. Designed to allow the foot to move and work in a completely natural way, FiveFingers provides a solution for reducing knee pain and soreness when training. And oh so comfortable! Check out these cool new shoes at vibramfivefingers.com

SECRET: Regular runner Gwen Stefani has been snapped wearing these five finger wonders.

4. BECOME GOOD FRIENDS WITH AN OSTEOPATH

Everyone needs a good osteopath in their life. With so much time spent crouched in front of a computer these days, back issues have become a chronic problem and affects most of us at some point of our life or another. Back pain can be constant or intermittent, and stay in one part of the back or radiate to other areas of the body, and because the spine is a complex interconnecting of bone, muscles, tissues and ligaments, a small misalignment somewhere can cause other areas to go out of line so easily. Osteopathy is a medical practice that emphasizes the interrelationship between all the different structures and parts of the body, and regular sessions with a good osteopath can work magic at curing back problems altogether. Once you find a good osteopath, keep up regular treatment sessions, because it is as good at prevention of problems as it is at curing them.

SECRET: Ask Jennifer – her osteopath is the best in Malaysia. Playing polo and horse riding can be rough. She needs someone to keep her back safe and supple.

5. GET YOUR DAILY DOSE OF SUNLIGHT

According to much modern medical research, almost 50% of us are deficient in Vitamin D. Deficiency can lead to all kinds of problems including osteoporosis and poor immunity to all kinds of flu bugs and other illnesses. It can also be a problem for those prone to weight gain. But because Vit D is a fat soluble, there are risks associated to ingesting supplements of Vit D. The good news is that an all-natural Vit D source is sunlight, which is non-invasive, non-dangerous and free! So getting your daily dose of sun energy on your bare skin is actually very good for you! Studies have shown that as well as making you healthier, enough sunlight can also improve your mood and happiness levels. So make it a point to take a daily sunbath if you can. For those of you living where sunshine is scarce, be sure to book in a holiday in the sun once every six months, for that’s how long the Vit D created can last in your body.

6. NEVER SKIP BREAKFAST

While breakfast is the easiest meal to skip – as most of us are in a rush early in the morning – it is also the most damaging to leave out. A study recently showed that skipping breakfast makes you 30% heavier over time. So those of you who make a conscious choice to avoid breakfast for weight control purposes should rethink your strategy. But missing breakfast can also make you sluggish and irritable in the morning. While you also shouldn’t stuff yourself with a huge cooked breakfast if that’s not your style, make it a point to eat a small portion of fruit, yoghurt or nuts in the morning. Pair that with your usual morning coffee. You will be surprised how much difference a few calories in the early part of the day can make to your productivity.

7. INVEST IN A MAGIC MIRROR

Mirrors are incredibly useful in feng shui; they can be used to double the food on the table, regularize a space, recreate a missing corner or even deflect poison arrows. But more than that, mirrors can make you feel good about yourself. Never make do with a mirror that makes you look fat or unattractive. If you have one of those slightly convex mirrors – no matter how slight – they can give your cheeks the chipmunk bulge or add inches to your arms and waist. Be sure to invest in a good quality mirror, and when you find one, install it in pride of place in your home so you can admire yourself each time you leave the house. Just be sure not to have it facing the front door, as doing so causes all the wealth and good energy that enters to exit right away.

SECRET: Ask Lillian Too about her magic mirrors… she has quite a collection of these powerful implements.

8. PLAY THE RIGHT MUSIC

Music has a huge effect on how you feel. Playing happy music puts you in a good mood, while playing melancholic music, no matter how beautiful, can get you into a depressive state, particularly if you’re already headed in that direction. When you’re down, it’s almost a masochistic joy to play music that makes you cry, but be careful you don’t get caught in a downward spiral. Do choose your songs with this in mind and be selective about what you put into your iPod.

9. INSTALL ANGRY BIRDS

Angry birds have developed a huge cult following, putting it right on the top of the list of most downloaded iPhone apps and is enjoyed by players of all ages from age 5 all the way to those nearing the triple digits. It’s not so difficult that you take too long to complete each level, and it is challenging enough to use as a good sleep aid for 5 minutes relaxation before bedtime. Also great for those monotonous commute journeys some of us have to make, or to fill just about any waiting time. Unlike real anger which you should work at suppressing with the Red Eagle cure or the Ksitigarbha Fireball – this anger is a great stress reliever, letting you shoot robber pigs with rainbow-coloured birds. If you haven’t played it yet, what are you waiting for?

SECRET: Brad Pitt is a fan. So is George Clooney!!

10. SNEAK IN SOME EXERCISE

You don’t need to make a special trip to the gym to fit in exercise into your lifestyle. Try incorporating exercise into your daily routine by pacing up and down the room while you talk on the phone, standing up instead of sitting down whenever you can, dancing in your seat while typing at the computer, or stretching your back, legs, arms and calf muscles. While making the effort to integrate this kind of exercise into your life may not make a huge difference taking off the pounds, it sure will elevate your spirits. Jogging, moving and shaking wakes up the cells in your body and is another trick to getting your metabolism and your mental health up.

Marie-Lise Chabtini introduces the powerful symbol of healing that is widely used by REIKI healers the world over and shares additional ways of using it to enhance the chi energy of space, discovering in the process its close relationship with symbolic feng shui.

Think of it as being part of our spiritual anatomy, connecting the physical body with our higher selves. This makes it an effective way for the two auras of the self to communicate and maybe that is why it is so effective as a sacred meditation and healing tool.

Many say the symbol originated in Tibet, although no records exist, but its powerful effects have created its own validity.

For healing purposes, Tibetans created candlelit rooms within which they placed a large oval bowl filled with several inches of water, representing the waters of life. In the center of the water, the Antahkarana symbol, usually made of silver, is placed. One wall is of polished copper polished creating a healing mirror; another wall is adorned with paintings depicting other healing symbols. The healer meditates on the symbol using his or her concentration to unite the energies of the symbol with that of the person requiring healing.

The Antahkarana symbol creates an energy that has a direct effect on the human aura, directly reaching chakra points in various ways. This depends as much on the size of the symbol as on the pattern created by the symbol. Visual images of powerful symbols are of course nothing new. It is an age-old practice that pops up in many different cultures. Yantra meditation for instance uses visual images to reach the consciousness. The Antahkarana is a very ancient healing and meditation symbol that has been used in China and Tibet for thousands of years. Today, it is a widely known symbol which those who use it claim has a consciousness of its own. The symbol is so powerful it can work independently of outside energy.

How Does It Work?

It interacts directly with your aura and your chakras; and it knows how to vary its healing effect according to what you need at the time of use. As a healing tool, it helps to release energy within a Taoist microcosmic orbit, in the process creating an energy flow up the main channel of the body and down the functional channel. This energy flow has a grounding and cleansing effect on the body; and as it activates the chakras, it heals the organs associated with each of the chakras.

Spiritual energies travel up the spine, over the crown chakra, and down through the front of the body to the root chakra and back up again, continuously moving around and around. This flow of energy balances the chakras and prevents excessive build up of energy in any of the chakras. The effect is often invigorating, adding a noticeable boost to one’s vitality. Here, it is the effect of the symbol on the human chakras that bring about healing and a growth spurt of vitality.

How I Look At Chakras

I will not talk much about chakras this time. The technology of chakras deserve much longer than just few words. For those who don’t know, just imagine that chakras are essential batteries in our body, each battery being responsible for charging a whole department. (Imagine the picture as a supermarket with 7 aisles of products with different functions: cleaning, animal food, etc.) The extraordinary thing about these batteries is that they last a lifetime and they are RECHARGEABLE. So your chakras are amazing centers of healing energies. Indeed, all spiritual therapies and cures use the chakra system to rejuvenate the human body.

The illustration below lists the emotional or physical aspects of each of the seven chakras. You can use it to help you visualize your own chakras and put concentration on each in turn to make you feel better. Simply focusing attention on your own chakra is itself a powerful exercise. Healing of the associated organs or emotional aspects indicated takes place immediately and when you also place a symbol of the Antahkarana on that chakra point, healing begins instantly. Chakras have many dimensions but this is a simple way to use them for healing.

Variations of the Symbol

The Antahkarana is a multi-dimensional symbol which at first looks like a two-dimensional hexagon with three 7’s inside a circle. These signify the seven colours of the rainbow and the seven chakras. As a 3-dimensional cube, its potency is enhanced considerably as this evolution from 2 to 3 dimensions is what helps the consciousness to access the higher self.

When I contemplate on the symbol for some time, I find I actually rotate around it, and it rotates around itself and around me! It’s a real trip! Math was not my favorite topic at school but I went into trying to find out how many sides a cube has… I know now. It’s 6, right? So I figured out very simply that if it was in 3D, then there would be 6 angles or sides, therefore 6 dimensions! Bottom line is that each one of uts will have his or her own trip, and will be lifted to one or more dimensions. I believe I’m at
level 6!

How does the Antahkarana benefit us?

As a remedy used to fight illness, the symbol is most effective. I know for a fact that this is one of the symbols used by Lillian to thwart illness star afflictions. She agrees that the Antahkarana works directly on the subtle energy vortexes of human bodies around it. Simply placing the symbol in any room or space is usually sufficient to generate an illness-free environment. The symbol cannot cause harm as it works directly through the higher self. Objects placed between two of the Antahkarana symbols will be cleansed of negative energy. Placing male and female versions of the symbol on a wall will generate the power to neutralize every kind of negative energy.

The Antahkarana symbol will also neutralize negative energy that may have collected in items such as jewellery or crystals simply by placing the object between two symbols. Symbols placed under mattresses and massage tables or chairs have a very positive effect on the sleeping. Just lying down on the symbols for three minutes will reverse the body’s magnetic poles, instantly rebalancing the chakra points. This is what makes people attentive and focused as opposed to feeling listless, tired and sleepy.

Water can be purified in nine minutes by placing upon the Antahkarana symbol. Any kind of radioactive or other contamination is removed. And as the human body is composed mainly of water, the symbols work in the same way on the body. If the energy needs to be concentrated on a small spot, use one of the corners of the symbol and press it upon the area for three minutes.

Ideal for Meditation

The Antahkarana is a valuable tool for meditation due to its 3-dimensional qualities. Regular use of the symbol generates greater inner clarity. It helps the mind go deeper into the subconscious, and hence vastly improving results from meditations, affirmations and visualizations. Meditation is done by gazing directly but gently on the symbol, allowing your conscious thought to drift and take shape. As you relax, you could experience subtle shifts in dimensional level and you may experience many kinds of visions within or surrounding the symbol. This has a powerful effect on the mind, enhancing its clarity but also causing it to relax vastly.

If you set aside ten minutes a day to meditate on the Antahkarana , it is believed your immunity goes up and you will not get sick. Your constitution becomes much stronger. The psyche will soon develop a calm demeanour, suggestive of a feeling of peace and security. In case you feel a flying sensation which disturbs you, just instantly open your eyes and come back to earth. However, Antahkarana meditation should not be seen as a way of relaxation; instead, it should be used to enhance your health and body strength.

Some tips based on my own experiences…

  • Always ask yourself first what you are suffering from.
  • Relate your pain to one of the chakras according to their emotional aspect.
  • Then place the appropriate symbol face down on that chakra.
  • Use different sizes in order to focus or widen the energies. Size matters.
  • When I’m very sad with my heart filled with unbearable pain, I place the symbols arranged as a Cosmic Cross on my heart chakra face down so it releases all the pain. Believe it or not, a few minutes later, the pain fades away and makes me feel so much better. Just like a miracle!
  • I also believe in detoxifying the water we drink. Just place a glass of water on the symbol for ten minutes and then drink… you might say it’s psychological, but when I drink, I feel good!

Your inner mind has great power to enhance your life, bringing an avalanche of success and a flow of abundance. When you master the ability to keep images of victory and prosperity vividly in your mind, your outer reality merges magically with your inner power. It is then that the supremacy of your mind and the vividness of your imagination combine to bring all your needs, desires and wants into magical reality. Such is the power of visualizations. To master the techniques of mental imaging, you need to tune inwards and mentally remove all stains of outer negativities.

Practise visualizing images that show you surrounded by personal abundance; and picture yourself letting go of negativities. This is how luck works. It starts by making the mind positive and strong. Here are 20 easy ways to visualize your way to health, wealth and happiness.

1. Think of the sun

You can cheer yourself up just by thinking of sunny days. Coming out of the winter, the sun is especially embracing. And even in countries that get bright sunshine all year round, people never tire of the joy of sunshine. If you find yourself feeling down, depressed or low for any reason at all, visualize the sun and its powerful yang energy filling your entire being with strength and happiness. Better still, if there is sunshine outside, step outdoors and let yourself physically soak up the energy of the sun. You will feel instantly energized.

2. Shrug off negativities

Shrug off thoughts that eat into your self-confidence as if they were bits of fluff – as if they were nothing more than minor misdemeanors of the mind. Visualize your shoulders lifting and your head tilting as if to get rid of this kind of thinking. Negative thinking not only robs us of our confidence and self worth, they also make us needlessly afraid.

3. Radiate a silent power

Tap into unseen forces within you. Reach inside for the wisdom, strength and the power of silence. Use your inner force. Think of it as a bright, white light inside you. Feel it move along the meridians in your body, lighting up your heart, your throat, your head, and you will soon start to exude an effortless strength that speaks volumes. Tap the power inside yourself so that it may show up on the outside, in what you say, what you do and how you do it.

4. Pretend you are the best

The mind is a powerful tool, probably more powerful than any physical attributes or in-born talents you may have. So utilize the power of your mind as fully as you can. Start by pretending you are the best in whatever you are pursuing. If you are looking for career advancement, pretend you are the best in your field. If you are looking for first-rate exam results, imagine you are the top student. Reality begins with but a single thought. The more you think of yourself as the best, the nearer to your fantasy you will find yourself, until it becomes reality for you.

5. Take a new perspective

Try looking at an old routine in a new way. Or try looking at someone you see each day in a new way. Make yourself do this consciously. When you start to take control of your mind like this, you will be amazed at the fresh new insights that come to you, which can lead to some most exciting discoveries.

6. Keep initial goals easy

The secret to continuing success is simply to break down big goals into a series of little ones, and start with the easy goals while you slowly make your way up the learning curve. This strategy makes achievement a lot easier and more attainable. Everything can be broken down into smaller and more manageable parts; you just need to make the effort to do that breakdown in your mind. Once you have a plan, keep focused on the path you draw out for yourself, and your ultimate goal will come within reach.

7. Be careful what you wish for

Every positive thing you have read about the power of the mind is true. Fantasies can become realities if you just go on picturing them over and over again in your mind. But sometimes manifested fantasies don’t turn out so good in the reality. So before you go wishing for things, be sure they are what you really want! In the harsh light of reality, fantasies can sometimes become nightmares!

8. Nothing is a coincidence

All of life’s coincidences are in reality not coincidences at all. When you live in a state of constant awareness, it is not difficult to find the linkages between every event and every circumstance that happens, and every person who appears in your life at any moment in time. Everything happens for a reason. Think through the last few days of your life, all the thoughts that crossed your mind and all the things that happened. Then meditate on them and try to link them all. You might begin to realize some insights you had earlier missed!

9. Music affects you more than you think

Music will change the energies and the vibrations around you. Happy songs lift the spirits, while melancholic music makes you feel depressed, unhappy and lethargic. Sometimes when you feel sad for absolutely no reason at all, you’ll find you’ve been listening to unhappy music. If you catch yourself doing that, switch to a happy tune and you will soon notice the difference. It is a good idea to make it a rule never to listen to melancholic music, as constantly playing something downbeat is like chanting a negative mantra!

10. Avoid negative people

In life, you will always come across the odd person who will make comments that annoy you, knock your confidence or make you doubt your self-worth. If you come across such a person, take what they say with a pinch of salt and imagine their negative comments evaporating into thin air or rolling off you like water off a duck’s back. Such people can only get to you if you let them. So don’t let them. You are stronger than that.

11. Get rid of blockages before they become permanent

It is the troubled spots in your mind that create obstacles to success, happiness and wellbeing. The Chinese are great believers in never allowing anything to obstruct the flow of chi – the life force – within the mind, body and space. Blocks can cause real problems, so whenever you become aware of a hang-up you have, get rid of it before it becomes permanent!

12. You can if you think you can

When you are given an assignment that you feel is beyond your scope, invest some time in boosting your own self-confidence. Often, it is not lack of ability that will stop you; rather, it is lack of confidence and lack of faith in yourself. You can move mountains if you believe you can. So if you are given a tough project to conquer, don’t get fazed. Just get started.

13. Savour every good thing that happens

If you are on a roll, enjoy it! This happens when you are in perfect harmony with the cosmos and everything is going well for you. These are moments of triumph, of success and of victory. In times like these, savour the moment and be proud of it. Don’t let anyone bring you back down to earth or rain on your parade.

14. Recall a courageous moment in your life

Whenever you feel yourself going through a patch in life when you feel particularly weak, inadequate or defeated, think of the last time you made a courageous decision or performed a courageous act. Courage is a feel-good attitude, and drawing on it from a first-person perspective is the very best way to pull yourself up from the doldrums.

15. Be careful what you record

People chronicle their lives in different ways. Some make photo albums, some write diaries, others pin up favourite family photos on their refrigerator. Whichever way you choose to chronicle your life, make sure you only record what you want to remember. Keep only photos where all the family are cheerful, happy and smiling. If you write a diary, note down only all your positive memories. If you feel like venting about something you are unhappy about, write down your thoughts by all means, but then rip out that page and burn it, so it no longer stays with you and in your conscience. Let go of anything at all that is negative. By doing this, you make sure you never have to relive any unhappy moments in your life.

16. Make a conscious decision to have faith in yourself

If you live your life with faith in yourself, soon it becomes as solid as a rock, unshakeable and unbreakable. Faith comes with practice. When you believe in something whole-heartedly, that belief rules your conscious and unconscious moods like nothing else can. So make sure that the faith you develop is in yourself, and that the motivation behind your faith is in making your life both honourable and meaningful.

17. Allow your imagination to soar

Open your mind to fresh ideas. Think of Einstein resting on a summer’s day, his eyes half closed, looking at the sun’s rays through a blade of grass and allowing his mind to travel with the ray of light. Let your imagination take you to places you have never been. You never know what you might discover this way!

18. Liberate yourself mentally

Many people live their lives as if they were confined to a gilded cage, afraid to fly. These kinds of people stick to the known and the familiar, and in the process, miss out on the more spectacular adventures that life has to offer. If you feel this may be you, mentally picture yourself as a bird in a cage, then visualize the cage door opening and yourself flying up to the wondrous skies above. Free your mind and there is nothing you cannot achieve!

19. Turn on all the lights in the house

If you turn on all the lights in the house, you will feel your spirits rise, especially if you have dark corners and there are insufficient windows in your house to bring in the natural light from the outside.

The mere act of lighting up your surroundings never fails to lift the lightness of chi that surrounds you. And when the energy that surrounds you is light, so will your frame of mind be light. Try this the next time you feel the air is heavy with depressing energy.

20. Spring clean your mind!

If any cobwebs still remain inside your head that obscure your vision of your true nature, you must sweep them away! Your mind is like a mirror. When it is clear, images reflected are sharp and lucid.

When the mind has delusions, inhibitions and complexes that have been accumulated over a lifetime, what gets reflected is blurred, unfocused and misleading. So try to undertake mental spring-cleaning regularly. Sweep away the dirt that clouds your visions!

What is money and romance, if you do not have the good health to enjoy it? Do you really want to go through numerous visits to the doctors, spending large amounts on even larger hospital bills, feeling sickly and utterly de-motivated? Don’t you believe in the famous adage that goes ‘Prevention is better than cure’? Don’t be surprised but with Feng Shui, you can prevent ill health even across the generations!

Generally, it is believed that the Feng Shui of a home can influence the nature of health that is enjoyed by the residence. A home that has auspicious Feng Shui vibrations and good flow of Chi will definitely endow the residents with good health.

However, sometimes it is quite difficult to realize that all is not well. With a busy lifestyle, we are only focused on curing whenever there is an illness and forget all about it when we are well! But if you were to look back you may notice a pattern of frequent illness. Especially, if this pattern started after you have moved into a new home or if you have recently renovated your home. This is because you may have inadvertently created a bad Feng Shui environment.

To ensure that you can safeguard your family’s health at all times, here are four golden rules for health:

Rule No. 1

Guard your home against poison arrows emanating from your surroundings. Check that your main door is not being hit by anything sharp or pointed, anything angular, or anything that seems to be threatening. Do remember however, that residents of homes that are hit by poison arrows do not usually just become sick. Usually the bad luck also takes on other equally, and sometimes more severe forms.

Rule No. 2

Beware of poison arrows inside the home and ensure that children are not sleeping directly beneath exposed beams, as these will cause frequent illness, headaches and an inability to sleep peacefully. It is also advisable not to fill your home with antiques. This is because you are unlikely to know the luck of the people who owned the artifacts before. Firearms are also inauspicious as they also stand the chance of having once been fired in anger and of having drawn blood, which is very bad Feng Shui.

Rule No. 3

If there is someone who is really ill at home, it is possible to use Feng Shui to help him or her recover. This is done by using the Pa Kua Lo Shu formula and involves finding that person’s Tien Yi (health direction) based on his or her date of birth. Once you identified the sector, then you should locate the person’s bedroom in that corner of the home and their bed should also be placed according to this direction.

Rule No. 4

To ensure the general health of the resident’s in your home, you should make sure that your stove is placed in a way that allows the gas or electricity to flow to it from any of your four auspicious directions. However if you were confused on whose best directions are to be followed, a simple guide would be to follow the directions of the head of the household. Do take some time out to ensure that these rules are not broken in your home. It will ensure a lifetime of good health!

There has been a lot written about wealth, relationship and family enhancement utilising feng shui, but what about our health. Can we use feng shui to help us achieve optimum health? In answer, let me share a little story with you…

I have always been actively involved in the complementary medicine field, having owned and operated my own Complementary Health Centre for over 8 years. While living in Malaysia I was constantly ‘not well’, suffered so called migraines and spent a huge amount of time in bed. Despite all my knowledge, commitment to diet, juicing, taking herbal and allopathic medication etc., I simply could not make any major difference to my health or rather illness status. My doctor, while simply wonderful and supportive, was equally dumbfounded as all blood tests came back displaying excellent results. Then I read some of Lillian Too’s books, attended her master practitioner course and learnt about feng shui and the last piece of the jigsaw puzzle fell into place.

So to answer my own question, YES… feng shui can definitely nudge your health in the right direction, although of course, a healthy diet, appropriate exercise and regular check-ups are also essential components. I now incorporate feng shui as part of my health regime and trust this article will give many of you insights to do the same.

Possible Afflictions Of Health (P) & Solutions (S)

House Layout:

(P) Is your house a regular shape, rectangle or square, or are there sections missing? Modern architecture often veers away from the so-called ‘box’ look, resulting in poison arrows (shar chi) and/or missing sectors.
(S) Fill in missing areas of house or garden with lights placed where the missing corner/s would normally be. Deflect any poison arrows from columns, sharp corners etc., with plants, material drapes, anything that softens/covers the ‘sharp edges.’

Front Door:

(P) Which way is it orientated?
(S) Try to orientate your main entrance door to face (inside looking out) your best direction. If it faces any of your worst directions, try using another door to enter and leave your home. Failing all this try, when you exit and enter your house, to angle your body to face one of your best directions. If you drive, you could also try parking your car so that you approach it from (walk towards) a favourable direction.

(P) Identify any poison arrows ‘hitting’ your front door? These can be in the form of an electrical pole, footpath, street, wall/roof angle from another building etc., ‘aimed’ directly at your front door.
(S) Screen your front door from any poison arrows. Use shrubs, pot plants, trees, but remember to keep the overall harmony. Lillian Too’s book, Feng Shui for Gardens offers some excellent illustration and solutions.

Master Bedroom:

(P) In which sector of your house is your bedroom located – is it in one of your worst directions?
(S)The best solution is of course to move into a bedroom located in either your best or second best directions. If this proves absolutely impossible, the best you can do is improvise. Try to ensure your bed head is against a solid wall facing (inside looking out) your Sheng Chi or Tien Yi direction. Wu Lou are excellent for health, protection and longevity, so place a Wu Lou next to your bed or buy a small jade one to wear around your neck.

(P) Which direction is your bed head against as you lie in bed?
(S) Make sure your have something solid behind your head as you lie in bed. Have your head be against your best direction or your second best directions. If your bed head is under a window, keep the curtain or blind closed, to form a solid background (support).

(P) Is your bed in the coffin position (feet directly facing the doorway)?
(S) Put some kind of screen/shield between the bottom of your bed and the doorway. If you don’t have enough room for a solid screen, why not buy a beautiful pashmina and hang it from the ceiling to create a colourful, light screen?

(P) Do any poison arrows ‘hit’ you while you are sleeping? Watch an open door does not inadvertently create a poison arrow. Beams can also be ‘suppressing’ and therefore ‘poisonous.’
(S) Alter the angle of the open door to stop it ‘piercing you’ in your sleep.Soften any corners from pillars, protrusions etc., by draping with scarves, pashminas, material etc. NOTE: No pot plants in the bedroom please. Place wind chimes, 2 bamboo flutes or a fan on any beams to counteract the negativity.

(P) Can you look into a mirror while you lie in bed? It is like always having another person in the room at night, someone who never sleeps – very unsettling!
(S) Cover the mirror up at night or move it to another location. Modern design often means that mirror wardrobe doors are placed at the end or on one side of a bed. For a simple solution put up some plastic covered spring wire across the front of the robe, made a curtain to cover the doors and threaded this onto the wire. When you need to access the wardrobe, simply pull the curtain back, but know that you will sleep really soundly at night when the curtain is drawn across the mirrors.

Kitchen:

(P) Your cooker (rice cooker) is connected at (wires coming in from) one of your worst directions.
(S) Make sure you predominately cook in an appliance that plugs into
your Tien Yi (second best) direction.

General:

Your second best, or Tien Yi, direction is the direction to tap if you headaches, migraines or any other health issues. This would be the best location for your sleeping area and placement of one’s bed head. Medicines can keep on enforcing the fact that we are ‘sick’. We all need medication at some time or another, but keep them in a cupboard or drawer. Better rename them in your mind to something like ‘health pills’. You could even make a label of this new name and place it on the cupboard, drawer and area that you keep your medications. The power of the mind is never to be underestimated so watch how you program yours. Do you talk ‘well talk’ or ‘ill talk’?

Sau, the God of Longevity

The God of Longevity, Sau, is probably one of the most popular deities found in Chinese homes. He is one of the three star gods that are collectively known as Fuk Luk Sau. Sau is usually portrayed dressed in a yellow robe and carrying a peach (also known as the fruit of immortality), a staff and the bottle gourd which is said to be filled with the nectar of Immortality. Placed at eye level with a solid wall behind him, Sau brings good health and a long, smooth life to all the residents of your household.

The Wu Lou for Health

The wu lou or the bottle gourd is a powerful symbol of longevity, good fortune and an abundance of blessings! The God of Longevity, Sau, carries a staff with a bottle gourd that is said to contain the elixir of Immortality hanging at the end. The shape of the wu lou is also a representation of heaven and earth united in miniature: the top half is heaven and the bottom, earth. Thus it is said that displaying a wu lou in and around the home is a good omen. Placing a wu lou by the bedside is especially beneficial for those who are ill or generally under the weather.

The Crane for Harmony

Next to the phoenix, the crane is the most favoured of all the bird symbols of good fortune. He is the bird of Immortality and is strongly identified with the attributes of longevity, happiness and the smoothness of flight. The crane’s symbolic presence in the home or garden is believed to bring harmony and happiness to the home. Placed in the south, a figurine or Chinese brush painting of the auspicious crane brings opportunities; in the west, it brings good luck for your children; in the east, it benefits the sons of the family; in the northwest it favours the family patriarch

The Deer for Prosperity

To the Chinese, the deer is a very popular symbol associated with speed, endurance and a long life. The word for ‘deer’ in Chinese is lu, which sounds similar to another word that means good income and prosperity. It is thus extremely auspicious to have the image of the deer in your office and home. Display a figurine or painting of the deer in your workplace to symbolise the wish for the company to prosper and grow or place it in your home so that your family will enjoy a long life of ease and growing prosperity.

The Tortoise for Longevity

The humble tortoise is the only one of the four celestial creatures that actually exists today. It is not merely a symbol of longevity, although rearing a live tortoise in the home is said to ensure that the family Patriarch lives to a ripe old age! The tortoise is also a symbol of protection and support as well as wealth and prosperity. In feng shui the tortoise signifies the protective hills of the north. Display a figurine of the tortoise in the north sector of your home to attract lots of good health and prosperity luck, and place on in the north corner of your office for support in your career.

The Peach of Immortality

No other tree or fruit has a greater depth of symbolic meaning than the peach tree. Every part of this plant is believed to possess some valuable attribute, but it is the peach fruit that is said to be the most valuable. Legend has it that the Monkey God stole peaches of immortality from the garden of the Goddess of the West, Hsi Wang Mu, and attained immortality. Display a jade peach tree or a painting of these heavenly peaches in your living room to bring in lots of longevity energies into your home.

The Bamboo for Resilience

The bamboo has long been regarded as a symbol of longevity due primarily to its resilience and ability to stay evergreen through the four seasons, especially during the winter months. The spiny bamboo, which signifies longevity and prosperity that lasts for generations, and the solid stemmed bamboo, which signifies a life free of illness and disease, are the varieties associated with good health. Display them in the east sector of your living room or in the study/library for health luck and protection.

The Eight Immortals

Widely regarded as symbols of longevity and good fortune, the Eight Immortals or Paht Hseen are superior beings of Taoist legend. Comprising six men and two women, they are said to have lived at different times and each attained immortality under different circumstances. However, legend says that they have each tasted the nectar and peaches of Immortality! The symbolic presence of the Eight Immortals in your home is believed to bring good health, happiness and good fortune to your family, so it would be beneficial to display a painting or figurines of them in your living room.
