Today something came up on my FACEBOOK which sent a thrill of joyous energy through me, and this was the video of a FIREWORKS display in Singapore. It was a short but nevertheless joyous clip and it gave a very good feeling indeed. It made me feel that the “heavy” energy I felt when in Singapore recently for my Spiritual Feng Shui event has lifted.

I had been very uncomfortable with the “heavy energy” I felt while I was there. I love Singapore so much, yet had felt that every step I took there that weekend had been so “heavy” indeed. I was so grateful I followed my instincts to recite the Heart Sutra together with those who came to share the day with me. Somehow it lifted the energy so much.

Reciting the Heart Sutra collectively in the ballroom of the Marina Mandarin that Sunday sent a boost of adrenaline through me and that evening, even though the Malaysian Airlines flight we were on got cancelled, and its replacement flight got cancelled again, we successfully transferred to a SILK AIR flight that was scheduled to leave at around the same time. There were five of us and I can tell you it is never easy to get so many seats at the last minute. Happily, we were able to get on the flight, which I later discovered was completely FULL when we flew. There were no delays at all! Everything went so smoothly.

I call this amazing indeed and we all got home safely.

It was a very pleasant flight and we got back to KL with no delay – all five of us despite both of our pre-booked flights being cancelled! I attribute this to the beautiful power of this amazing Sutra and want to share this with those of you familiar with this short sutra that is associated with Vultures Peak in Bodhgaya. I have made a silent vow that if my “frozen” shoulders get better and I can make it, I will organise a trip to Bodhgaya this coming January. Those who want to come with me on pilgrimage to this holy place in India, please do write in to let us know (pilgrimage@wofs.com), and as soon as I am able to, I will let you know.

These days, this very sacred pilgrimage site is very popular, especially when HH the Dalai Lama is there. That is when the small village is literally swamped with thousands and thousands of devotees. Nevertheless, I have discovered over the past years that when we place a sincere thought in our hearts into the Universe, the wish we send out will miraculously happen.

Send a thought into the Universe and the energies will conspire to make your wishes come true! So let’s send this good wish out and dedicate this to whatever you need to happen!

You really must be careful of what’s under the carpet. For months I had been so unwell. Apart from my right shoulder causing me pain and discomfort from the “frozen shoulder syndrome” I have been suffering for the past two years, my other shoulder had started developing intense pain requiring steroid injections to ease the pain. On top of that, I felt my energy sapping slowing. Of course, I was mentally combating the pain and discomfort but I WAS SURE IT WAS SOMETHING ELSE CAUSING THE PROBLEM.

Past two months we had been experiencing particularly fierce monsoon rains causing havoc – flooded roads, fallen trees and major traffic jams – in Kuala Lumpur. Each evening around 4 to 5 pm the rains would come and they were so torrential it would take only a few minutes for the big monsoon drains to fill up. and every day I would have to make offerings of incense to the local rain spirits to make sure my home would not get flooded.

Yes it is good to offer fragrant incense, chant mantras on the incense and then offer to the Rain Spirits. I have already taught the power of Incense Offerings previously and I ALWAYS spend a few minutes making this offering each time the rains fall. But unknown to me something far more sinister was taking place – this time affecting my bedroom on the first floor of my house.

Rain water was slowly but surely seeping through my windows and onto my bedroom floor – causing my wooden parquet floor to get soaked with water, they “popped” out and started getting mouldy. in time the uneven parquet caused the carpet underlayer to tear apart and it was only then that I felt the uneven ness of my carpet. Mine was a thick carpet so on the surface everything looked normal. My shoulders were getting worse and now it was getting difficult to sleep!

It was then that I immediately arranged to remove my wall to wall carpet and OMG when I saw the floor under the carpet I was shocked to see the mould, the flaky rubber, sand and damp mud beneath! How could I have been sleeping in a room with all this beneath.

It took two days to clean the “mess” and altogether they took out 12 bags of mud, debris and sand from my bedroom and replace with a new under layer and a new carpet. Last night, for the first time I slept a good 10 hours. I feel SO much better and this morning I am flying to Singapore to give my talk at the SPIRITUAL FENG SHUI event.

I like to believe that my Buddhas, my Taras and my positive thinking are looking after me .. but I am certain it is also my feng shui instincts that made me investigate the problem. Thought to share with you all in case you may be suffering from joint pains or having problems sleeping.

Just before the New Year each year, Lillian Too holds her annual Feng Shui Extravaganzas to share invaluable tips and advice on the coming year, with full explanation of the annual charts, the change of energies and the Flying Star updates. Those events usually happen in December before the new year.

In the mid-year period however, Lillian shares something perhaps even more important – the spiritual aspect of Feng Shui, which when used in conjunction with the more scientific Feng Shui formulas and calculations from the Flying Star and Eight Mansions schools of thought, makes one’s Feng Shui practice even more potent and quick-acting.

If you are going through a difficult patch in life, suffering from lethargy or low energy, struggling to make all your finances meet, working towards specific goals and endeavours that encounter roadblocks or obstacles, learning the art of creative visualisation and calling on spiritual help is invaluable knowledge indeed. These are some of the best kept secrets of the Chinese way of life; when you know how to harness the blessings of the deities and how to use the power of your own mind, you can truly fast-track the attainment of all your goals and aspirations.

Lillian Too’s Spiritual Feng Shui Event started in Singapore on Sunday 9th July 2018 at the Marina Mandarin, where she addressed her mainly Singaporean audience, followed by her Kuala Lumpur Spiritual Feng Shui Event on Sunday 15th July 2018 at the Gardens Hotel Ballroom, with participants from Malaysia but also many students and followers from around the world, including the USA, Russia, Estonia, Kazakstan, Indonesia, India and the Philippines.

THE FOUR GREAT HEAVENLY KINGS

The four great heavenly kings are worldly protectors of the four directions of North, South, East and West – also the protectors of the mortal world. Each of these heavenly kings are in charge of one of the four directions and has his own set of duties. When you invite their images into your home, they keep you safe from danger, protect your body speech and mind, and bring you prosperity of the kind that will allow you to do whatever it is you want to do.

The Guardian of the South is VIRUDHAKA aka “The Immuniser”. He cuts through all the evil and dangers that you might encounter and immunizes you from the effect that negative people may have on you. Lillian explained that when you invoke his blessings, people who are “bad for you” somehow will disappear from your life, and you will instead attract people who are beneficial for you. Friends who are good for you, who are a good influence on you, and who will not pour cold water over your ideas and what you are trying to achieve or do. This is also the Heavenly King who is the guardian of your Life Force. If your element luck Life Force is low for the year, you need Virudhaka.

The Guardian of the East is DHR-TARAS-TRA aka “The Adjuster”. This heavenly king transforms all bad into good. If you have been going through a difficult period in your life, or encountering “bad luck”, you need the help of this heavenly king. He is also the guardian of your Spirit Essence and having him near you will prevent anyone from being able to do black magic on you. He protects you against spirit harm and the jealousy of others, and the associated harm that this can lead to. Those whose Spirit Essence is low for the year need the help of this Heavenly King.

The Guardian of the North is VAISRAVANA. He is also known as the “Wealth Protector” because he guards your wealth. He ensures that there is no loss or wastage of your asset wealth, allowing what you save and invest to not just be conserved but to grow over time. He carries the wealth-spouting mongoose -like many of the wealth deities of the Chinese and Tibetan traditions – and he is also the Lord of the Yakshas. He brings prosperity into your life and ensures you will not suffer from poverty. Those who are going through tight periods, suffering from a slow-down of business, or having to manage cash flow problems need the help of this Heavenly King.

The Guardian of the West is VIRUPAKSA. This heavenly king holds the snake, sometimes depicted as the lasso, and he protects against illness and black magic. He reigns supreme over the nagas and ensures keeps you strong against sickness and diseases. Anyone facing any king of health obstacle should call on his help.

All of the 4 Heavenly Kings are supremely important and beneficial to invite into your home, but you can also invite them singly as they operate individually as well as together. Lillian said that of course, to have all four heavenly kings is ideal, but if you can only invite one, then you can invite the king in charge of matters more pressing to your personal situation.

THE FIVE DHYANI BUDDHAS

The heavenly kings are the worldly protectors, but just as important are the cosmic protectors and the most important of these are the five wisdom Buddhas. Lillian’s afternoon sessions introduced these five Buddhas, who are the “Heads” or leaders of the five families of Buddhas. The Buddha families are the Vajra family, the Tathagata family, the Jewel family, the Lotus family and the Karma family. Each family consists of 7 Buddhas, and 5 X 7 = 35, which make up the 35 Confession Buddhas, headed by the 5 Wisdom Buddhas.

It benefits everyone who believes in spirituality to invite these 5 Wisdom Buddhas into the home. These Buddhas represent each aspect of Buddha nature, and when one begins to understand what each of these Buddhas represent is when one takes a big step towards wisdom and enlightenment – the biggest singular aim of anyone studying Buddhist philosophy. Lillian impressed upon her audience that she does not think of Buddhism as a religion, because in Buddhism there is no “Creator God”; rather, everyone has the Buddha Nature within them and studying the Buddhist Path simply leads one to unlock this Buddha Nature that is already within themselves.

Buddhism is more a philosophy; to practice Buddhism, you do not need to be “Buddhist”. You can continue to practice your own religion, but what Buddha teaches is to be compassionate and kind. To be wise and to be all-knowing. Indeed, the biggest sin, as taught by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, reveals Lillian, is “Ignorance”. Not knowing is not an excuse – it is everyone’s duty to aspire to know, to find out, to learn. Life is indeed a continuous journey of learning, and as long as one continues to learn, one is on the right path.

Lillian’s second session she spent introducing these 5 Wisdom Buddhas, what they stand for, their symbols, implements and realms of rule. She impressed that when one wants to learn to pray, to chant mantras, to follow a spiritual path, it is not enough to just learn the motions of the rituals and to chant mantras blindly. One should not be content with just blind faith – one should strive to understand what one is chanting or who one is praying to. Hence the importance of learning about these 5 Buddhas, the root of all Buddhist knowledge.

The images of these Buddhas in your home makes one’s spiritual path more smooth, and there are countless material and non-material benefits to inviting them into your life. Invoking these Buddhas makes one immune to gossip and slander, keeps one’s children safe from harm, ensures prosperity continues to flow into your household, ensures good business luck, protects you against accidents both at home and during your travels, protects against loss of income, and protects against black magic spells. In short, they have the ability to create magic in your life.

Says Lillian, “Magic is more powerful than science. But science is merely an explanation of magic.”

THE BENEFITS OF PRAISE

She also taught on the benefits of “Praise”. That saying that flattery gets you everywhere, it’s totally true, and Lillian shared a new word to introduce into your vocab – “GLORIOUS”. Says Lillian, “Try it. The next person you bump into, say “Have a glorious day!” or “You look so glorious”. Or “Your hair is simply glorious!” Works! Try it.

Another wisdom to take away from her Spiritual Feng Shui event – it is quite alright to “Fake it till you make it”. Says Lillian, “If you pretend to be rich, one day you will really be rich. If you cannot wear diamonds, wear crystals that look like diamonds, one day they will turn into diamonds.”

Pointing to her gargantuan-sized zircon diamond Magic Square pendant, she said, “I will not be offended if you ask me, Is that fake? Well darling, of COURSE it’s fake! Are you kidding me? If you wear real, and someone snatches it off you, die lah… kek sim (which in Hokkien slang means “Heartache”). The audience roars with laughter.

She adds, “You may think it is just symbolic, but symbolic is powerful.”

So there you have it!

We head into July filled with great confidence and aspirations as we embrace the digital age and evolve with changing times. We expand our Yang energy presence here to bring increased activity and dynamism into www.wofs.com as we continue to share our knowledge of feng shui practices and rituals – old and new, ancient and futuristic, aimed at making sure Feng Shui, this fabulous ancient practice, continues to be relevant as it evolves alongside the digital age.

We continue to bring you tested methodology on placements, rituals, practices and analysis of the modern world’s changing times. We have always stressed that making Feng Shui work for us need not be difficult. This resonates with fast moving times that demand results. This continues to be our goal.

Practicing feng shui must continue to be easy and, well, practical.

Thus together with my team of experts, we undertake annual and monthly analyses of energy patterns, follow astrological and feng shui cycles of change and design our findings into the most beautiful CURES, and ENHANCERS to magnify good energies and subdue negative energies. Our sacred jewellery and accessories are to ensure your personal energies stay in alignment with changing chi energies.

Feng Shui SYMBOLIC enhancements must blend with the energy of homes, apartments and work places from year to year. Likewise our individual auras must also resonate with each year’s energies.

These have changed greatly in the past ten years! And thus, as cities grow and urban living takes hold, our living spaces have become more futuristic. Our buildings are no longer just WOOD, now the use of EARTH & METAL energies predominate. Public abodes are larger and higher. As cities grow, the feng shui we practise must become more focused on the “Tai Chi” of our own spaces!

Increasingly then, Feng Shui is about the management of our INTERIORS.

It is about how we arrange furniture; place symbolic CURES to subdue bad energy corners OR magnify powerful auspicious stars and star numbers. The “tai chi” of personal living and work spaces is what we must focus our attention on, to live happier, healthier and wealthier lives. Feng Shui has become increasingly the ART of PLACEMENT. We must be alert to time changes of energy patterns to ensure good fortune luck is sustained, that it blends seamlessly with the energies of every new year and month.

Practising feng shui is developing sensitivity to afflictions brought by nothing more than the passage of time. There is a need to focus strongly on correct placement of CURES and ENHANCERS in our living environment. This is EASY FENG SHUI practice! And it works!

Meanwhile, spiritual comic forces also affect your space. These bring positive or negative influences, so the Chinese have incorporated TAOIST and BUDDHIST practices into their manipulation of energy. They use placements, incantations, prayers and special amulets to preserve good luck and heal the bad luck of living spaces.

I recently had the opportunity to create a perfect Period 8 house. It happened quite by chance when the property next door to where I have lived for the past 35 years came on the market. Impulsively I bought the house, because I realized it had great potential. The land area was large – almost 9000 sq ft and it was elevated and thus had a good view…

These days it is no longer easy to find yummy pieces of good residential land near the city and in my part of town too! I love where we live – it is probably one of the nicer suburbs of this great city of Kuala Lumpur, which is itself one of the most fabulous cities in the world. Many of my students who come from every corner of the world and who had never visited Malaysia before cannot believe how beautiful, safe and modern our city is – and the bonus is that our people are so warm and keen to make friends with foreigners.

We are indeed a very hospitable country and mine is one of the nicest little corners of my beautiful country! My “village” can be considered to be part of the great BANGSAR neighbourhood, which in the recent twenty or so years has become very trendy indeed, being near enough to the city center yet incredibly self contained in terms of having everything you need to live the great life, all “just down the road”, including not one but three very well-managed shopping malls.

The floor is made of white oak, which is an old slowgrowing tree that signifies longevity and substance.

These fully air-conditioned social centers come complete with swanky supermarkets, upscale movie houses, live show theatres, designer boutique shops, small town businesses and bank branches and hundreds of restaurants. There are hospitals, country clubs, schools and everything else you need to make life very comfortable indeed. Bangsar roads are wide, traffic here is manageable, views are terrific and the terrain is hilly and undulating, definitely signifying the presence of Earth Dragons! So the area has auspicious foundations!

Bangsar is thus famous and extremely popular with the expatriate community. Fewer people know about Bukit Pantai, the high-end corner of this suburb. Within Bukit Pantai is a small and secluded valley where less than a hundred families live. This is where I live, and it is here where prime residential land can still be found. These come in the form of old houses begging to be torn down and rebuilt, and right now there are several houses being renovated and revitalized – like what I have been doing with my own house.

Changing these older lots into period 8 abodes is the key to giving it the feng shui oomph necessary to get the chi flowing auspiciously again. Many of the houses here sit on choice pieces of bungalow land in a neighbourhood; this is ground that sits along tree-lined roads that are wide and with mature infrastructure facilities. Happily, the roads here have only just been “upgraded” with a new layer of tar, giving the enclave here a fresh new feeling.

A new roof and new floor transforms heaven and earth energy.

There are not many of such finds left as the city expands further outwards.

These days, to find yummy pieces of land on which to build one’s dream house and also have it NEAR to the city is difficult. It is not about money any more, it is about availability. So when old properties next door to me come on the market, I am interested. Number 15 is one such house. I saw its exciting potential immediately.

I love building an auspicious house. I enjoy tapping into old energy and revitalizing it, making local landlords happy and cared for. It is lucky to have an auspicious house next door – mutual good fortune rubs off on each other. This creates a nice neighbourhood.

The high ceiling of the living room uplifts the chi and this is one of the most excellent feng shui features of any modern home.

The challenge here was to create a Period 8 house that taps into the auspicious new energy of the current period. The bonus here was that this is an elevated piece of land where it was not necessary to make any structural changes. This was also a lucky house, as the previous occupant had made his fortune here and had moved on to a much bigger place. But it was an old house. There were too many little rooms tucked into cramped corners. The winding narrow staircase and heavily stained water feature beneath it had to be removed and replaced.

The house looked tired. Its veins and arteries – wiring and plumbing – needed to be changed. Most of all, the house needed new heaven, earth and mankind energy to revitalize the chi within. It was badly crying out for a new roof, new floor, new doors and new windows.

We demolished the entrance, the old stairs, and the overhanging beams and built a brand new entrance that was wide and spacious, relocating it to the center of the front elevation to capture the all-powerful 8 water and mountain stars in the Flying Star chart.

It is only when one is building a new house or making extensive renovations that one can really transform the energy of any home. This is done by adding important features that enable the effect of the powerful flying stars of the current period to emerge.

I used this house as a CASE STUDY for the students of my most recent MASTER PRACTITIONERS COURSE in feng shui and it was truly the most incredible way to explain the complexities of the Flying Star formula. I really believe this is the best way to teach the practical application of feng shui. I am happy to report that they loved the experience!

We changed the roof to revitalize the heaven energy of the home. We dug out the fading marble floor and laid on lovely hardwood finishing instead. This rejuvenated the Earth energy of the house. Finally, we installed new doors and put in floor-length French windows to bring more light into the house, thereby transforming it into a Period 8 house.

We knocked down walls and made the living area feel and look more spacious. The living room flows into the dining area, so that visually it is all one big space. This is one of the easiest and most effective ways of making sure every part of the first level of the house benefits from the auspicious 8 of the flying stars.WHAT IS THE AUSPICIOUS 8?

This is the number 8 water star, which brings wealth and prosperity energy, and the number 8 mountain star, which brings excellent good health and fabulous relationship luck. Spacious living is probably the most effective way of capturing the auspicious flying stars causing lucky chi energy to flow through the home unimpeded, never getting blocked or trapped in tight corners or tiny rooms. There is no place for negative chi to form and accumulate, or stagnate and cause yin spirit formation!

Working with my son-in-law, Chris, who was a great help really because he gave me the crucial design and structural inputs i.e. what I can and cannot do, we introduced some pretty savvy feng shui features into the house, and here, the pictures should speak louder than words. The following were some of the major things we did to create excellent up-to-date feng shui for the home.

AUSPICIOUS TRANSFORMATIONS

  • We transformed the home into a vibrant period 8 house
  • We moved the main entrance to the center facing palace
  • We regularized the shape of the house with no more missing corners
  • We reshaped the house to create auspicious dimensions throughout
  • We successfully captured the 8 facing water star and the 8 sitting mountain star
  • The swimming pool was located in the Southwest to attract immediate wealth luck
  • A skylight was created to bring in auspicious heaven chi (for windfall luck)
  • A view of distant houses attract a flow of continuous new energies
  • The back of the house was built solidly against the hill to ensure good support.

The house is almost done now, so I have been busy this past month selecting the trees and the plants to ensure there is equally good landscaping feng shui. It is so important to soften the modern lines of glass panes, white walls and granite floors. This is done with specially selected trees and I usually prefer trees that have small leaves. This discourages mosquitoes. Trees should also have leaves in the most pleasing shades of green as they filter the hot tropical sunlight of Malaysia.

It is important that the home attracts birds into the garden and this is done with specially-placed auspicious water features and decorative items. The garden makes living on landed property very meaningful, as it lets the occupants tap into the vast energy of the earth. This brings long-lasting abundance. The pool of water brings wealth luck. A good view of the blue skies above, especially when you can see the sun in the daytime and the moon at night, brings cosmic blessings from beyond, and if you feel gentle breezes kiss your face, these are the local spirits welcoming you!
