The Lillian Too Extravaganza has over the years become as much a catch-up between friends, as an annual benchmark update event. These friends come from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds, but they all have a passion and interest in the art and science of feng shui, and regularly use the secrets of the Chinese Art of Placement to improve their lives and those of their friends, family and clients. Many of those who fly in specially for the event are Feng Shui experts in their own right.

Lillian opened the event by welcoming all her friends in the audience, some of them very dearest friends. “There are many many countries represented, those who make it a point to come to Kuala Lumpur to share this day with me, they are big names in feng shui in their home countries, or they do amazing things in spreading this wonderful body of knowledge, because that is what feng shui is. To live very harmoniously with nature, and to benefit from the winds and the waters of the world.”

The first session began with Lillian presenting the Feng Shui Chart of 2020.

While the dominant number of the coming year’s chart is 7, a star associated with violence, loss and betrayal, it combines with the animal sign of the year, the Rat, to bring a very special amalgamation that promises fabulous completion luck. The Rat has always been a creature associated with wealth, money and the ability to thrive despite impediments and obstacles, and what this indicates for 2020 is that those with the determination to do so can eke out “hidden gold” and opportunities in a year blessed with a Lap Chun.

The cardinal directions of North, South and East are afflicted, but the secondary directions are lucky – this indicates the cardinal animal signs of Rat, Horse and Rabbit need the necessary cures in place, while the secondary animal signs of Ox, Tiger, Dragon, Snake, Monkey, Sheep, Dog and Boar should look to enhancing the auspicious stars in their sector.

Before the second session, Lillian revealed a very special treat!

She shared her thoughts on music and mathematics, how they relate to feng shui, and then introduced her 15 year old grandson Jack Yeo Zhu Zhiang, who came on stage to fill the hall with a stirring rendition of the Military Polonaise by Frederic Chopin, followed by Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Prelude in G minor. Both pieces were upbeat, nationalist and fitting anthems to welcome in a brand new 180-year cycle.

Jack holds an LTCL Diploma in Piano Performance and is studying music with a very special lady, Professor Snezana Panovska, who is currently spearheading the start-up of Malaysia’s very first Music Conservatory at Sunway University. She is also Musical Director of the Chopin Society of Malaysia, and hails from Macedonia.

The Paht Chee presentation revealed a balanced basket of elements – a good indication, but with a bias towards the Earth element – which points to stress and worry. If there is one skill one would do well mastering this year, it would be to live in a state of mindfulness and to regularly take time to pause and take stock. We are operating in a technologically advanced world, a quantum age where one juggles many balls simply because we can. But we need to balance out that very yang fast-living with moments of quiet and stillness, even if for but a moment.

The other hugely fun and rewarding part of the day is the shopping!

Each year, Lillian and her team at WOFS spends the better part of the year designing products needed to activate the auspicious energies, and those needed to control the afflictions of the year.

Says Lillian, “All of the symbols of good fortune, of protection, really help you. Because all the objects that you put everywhere emit “energy”. And these energies can be either protective or destructive. All the things that we make are very, very enhancing, and very protective. Why? Because we go to a lot of trouble to do research on them, and to make sure they are beautifully made. So when you see them, you also very “sayang” them, very “like” them. And that is done through the power of placement.

“The world is only now awakening to the power of placement. How you position your furniture, what you display in your home, the symbols you use, how you sit, how you work, all these things have a bearing on the outcome you want.”

Lillian’s daughter Jennifer Too and nephew Lim Han Jin joined her to present the afternoon session on the Feng Shui Astrology. Here they shared the luck of the 12 animal signs for the coming year. The good news is that the year features a great number of Auspicious Stars – Big and Small Auspicious – and these must be enhanced!

The Monkey and Rooster have something very big coming to them in the next 12 months, and should keep a look out for new opportunities. The Wood animals of Tiger and Rabbit are very strong element-wise, and should make the most of their inner strength to get ahead this coming year. The Snake and Dragon share an Auspicious Star, and would do well working together. The Dog and Boar enjoy the Prosperity Star. The Rat has the support of the Tai Sui. The Horse needs to take care of its afflictions.

Singapore is traditionally the first of two dates she keeps with her fans and friends from around the world. Many come from as near as the Philippines and Vietnam, to as far away as Russia, Europe and the United States to touch base with her and attend her Annual Extravaganza. As always, Lillian continued to captivate her beloved fans and friends. She follows the Singapore Extravaganza with another date this Sunday on 16^th December in her home city of Kuala Lumpur at Hotel Istana. Those events usually happen in December before the new year.

In the mid-year period however, Lillian shares something perhaps even more important – the spiritual aspect of Feng Shui, which when used in conjunction with the more scientific Feng Shui formulas and calculations from the Flying Star and Eight Mansions schools of thought, makes one’s Feng Shui practice even more potent and quick-acting.

Lillian Too’s Spiritual Feng Shui Event started in Singapore on Sunday 9th July 2018 at the Marina Mandarin, where she addressed her mainly Singaporean audience, followed by her Kuala Lumpur Spiritual Feng Shui Event on Sunday 15th July 2018 at the Gardens Hotel Ballroom, with participants from Malaysia but also many students and followers from around the world, including the USA, Russia, Estonia, Kazakstan, Indonesia, India and the Philippines.

THE FOUR GREAT HEAVENLY KINGS

The four great heavenly kings are worldly protectors of the four directions of North, South, East and West – also the protectors of the mortal world. Each of these heavenly kings are in charge of one of the four directions and has his own set of duties. When you invite their images into your home, they keep you safe from danger, protect your body speech and mind, and bring you prosperity of the kind that will allow you to do whatever it is you want to do.

The Guardian of the South is VIRUDHAKA aka “The Immuniser”. He cuts through all the evil and dangers that you might encounter and immunizes you from the effect that negative people may have on you. Lillian explained that when you invoke his blessings, people who are “bad for you” somehow will disappear from your life, and you will instead attract people who are beneficial for you. Friends who are good for you, who are a good influence on you, and who will not pour cold water over your ideas and what you are trying to achieve or do. This is also the Heavenly King who is the guardian of your Life Force. If your element luck Life Force is low for the year, you need Virudhaka.

The Guardian of the East is DHR-TARAS-TRA aka “The Adjuster”. This heavenly king transforms all bad into good. If you have been going through a difficult period in your life, or encountering “bad luck”, you need the help of this heavenly king. He is also the guardian of your Spirit Essence and having him near you will prevent anyone from being able to do black magic on you. He protects you against spirit harm and the jealousy of others, and the associated harm that this can lead to. Those whose Spirit Essence is low for the year need the help of this Heavenly King.

The Guardian of the North is VAISRAVANA. He is also known as the “Wealth Protector” because he guards your wealth. He ensures that there is no loss or wastage of your asset wealth, allowing what you save and invest to not just be conserved but to grow over time. He carries the wealth-spouting mongoose -like many of the wealth deities of the Chinese and Tibetan traditions – and he is also the Lord of the Yakshas. He brings prosperity into your life and ensures you will not suffer from poverty. Those who are going through tight periods, suffering from a slow-down of business, or having to manage cash flow problems need the help of this Heavenly King.

The Guardian of the West is VIRUPAKSA. This heavenly king holds the snake, sometimes depicted as the lasso, and he protects against illness and black magic. He reigns supreme over the nagas and ensures keeps you strong against sickness and diseases. Anyone facing any king of health obstacle should call on his help.

All of the 4 Heavenly Kings are supremely important and beneficial to invite into your home, but you can also invite them singly as they operate individually as well as together. Lillian said that of course, to have all four heavenly kings is ideal, but if you can only invite one, then you can invite the king in charge of matters more pressing to your personal situation.

THE FIVE DHYANI BUDDHAS

The heavenly kings are the worldly protectors, but just as important are the cosmic protectors and the most important of these are the five wisdom Buddhas. Lillian’s afternoon sessions introduced these five Buddhas, who are the “Heads” or leaders of the five families of Buddhas. The Buddha families are the Vajra family, the Tathagata family, the Jewel family, the Lotus family and the Karma family. Each family consists of 7 Buddhas, and 5 X 7 = 35, which make up the 35 Confession Buddhas, headed by the 5 Wisdom Buddhas.

It benefits everyone who believes in spirituality to invite these 5 Wisdom Buddhas into the home. These Buddhas represent each aspect of Buddha nature, and when one begins to understand what each of these Buddhas represent is when one takes a big step towards wisdom and enlightenment – the biggest singular aim of anyone studying Buddhist philosophy. Lillian impressed upon her audience that she does not think of Buddhism as a religion, because in Buddhism there is no “Creator God”; rather, everyone has the Buddha Nature within them and studying the Buddhist Path simply leads one to unlock this Buddha Nature that is already within themselves.

Buddhism is more a philosophy; to practice Buddhism, you do not need to be “Buddhist”. You can continue to practice your own religion, but what Buddha teaches is to be compassionate and kind. To be wise and to be all-knowing. Indeed, the biggest sin, as taught by Lama Zopa Rinpoche, reveals Lillian, is “Ignorance”. Not knowing is not an excuse – it is everyone’s duty to aspire to know, to find out, to learn. Life is indeed a continuous journey of learning, and as long as one continues to learn, one is on the right path.

Lillian’s second session she spent introducing these 5 Wisdom Buddhas, what they stand for, their symbols, implements and realms of rule. She impressed that when one wants to learn to pray, to chant mantras, to follow a spiritual path, it is not enough to just learn the motions of the rituals and to chant mantras blindly. One should not be content with just blind faith – one should strive to understand what one is chanting or who one is praying to. Hence the importance of learning about these 5 Buddhas, the root of all Buddhist knowledge.

The images of these Buddhas in your home makes one’s spiritual path more smooth, and there are countless material and non-material benefits to inviting them into your life. Invoking these Buddhas makes one immune to gossip and slander, keeps one’s children safe from harm, ensures prosperity continues to flow into your household, ensures good business luck, protects you against accidents both at home and during your travels, protects against loss of income, and protects against black magic spells. In short, they have the ability to create magic in your life.

Says Lillian, “Magic is more powerful than science. But science is merely an explanation of magic.”

THE BENEFITS OF PRAISE

She also taught on the benefits of “Praise”. That saying that flattery gets you everywhere, it’s totally true, and Lillian shared a new word to introduce into your vocab – “GLORIOUS”. Says Lillian, “Try it. The next person you bump into, say “Have a glorious day!” or “You look so glorious”. Or “Your hair is simply glorious!” Works! Try it.

Another wisdom to take away from her Spiritual Feng Shui event – it is quite alright to “Fake it till you make it”. Says Lillian, “If you pretend to be rich, one day you will really be rich. If you cannot wear diamonds, wear crystals that look like diamonds, one day they will turn into diamonds.”

Pointing to her gargantuan-sized zircon diamond Magic Square pendant, she said, “I will not be offended if you ask me, Is that fake? Well darling, of COURSE it’s fake! Are you kidding me? If you wear real, and someone snatches it off you, die lah… kek sim (which in Hokkien slang means “Heartache”). The audience roars with laughter.

She adds, “You may think it is just symbolic, but symbolic is powerful.”

Being in Lillian’s presence and sharing in her positive energy, especially before the start of each new year when she gears up to share everything we need to know about the new year and how to put what she advises into practice, is a whole new experience that is difficult to translate into words. This year, she held her Extravaganza in Singapore on Sunday 10th Dec 2017 at Suntec City, and on the following Sunday in Kuala Lumpur on 17th Dec 2017. Fans, readers, students and fans flew in from every corner of the globe to soak in the wonderful energy, and as one member of the audience from Japan put it, “Every time I am in her presence, Lillian recharges my positive meter!” This follower makes it a point to fly into Malaysia at least once or twice a year, because Lillian Too weaves a special kind of magic not just in the content she delivers, but in the energy she emanates. We all felt it. It was amazing.

Here are some bite-sized recaps for those who missed it, or to jog the memory of those of you who were there with her.

A YEAR MISSING METAL

Feng shui talks about balancing the elements and about living in harmony with the environment, and part of this is studying the charts, noting the imbalances, and bringing the energy around us back into balance… as much as we can. In 2018, Lillian notes that this is a year completely lacking in Metal. There is hidden Metal, but none whatsoever in the main chart. Metal this year is the element that brings Wealth, so there is a lack of wealth in the chart. The one hidden Metal however indicates there IS money to be made, if you know how to activate for it.

How do you activate the hidden Metal? You wear gold. Auspicious jewellery and accessories in gold, the most precious metal, becomes especially important this coming year. You can also wear auspicious symbols made of brass and plated in gold, because brass contains a high copper content, and copper is highly beneficial in so many ways. Copper is known to kill bacteria, it can reduce the symptoms of arthritis, supports a healthy metabolism and helps maintain a healthy nervous system. Indeed, the ancient craftsmen of China often worked with copper and brass because of their positive properties.

If you don’t wear jewellery, you can also wear the colour white or shades of metallic hues to activate Metal energy around you. And for the home, windchimes are especially lucky in 2018, because the sound of metal on metal is extremely powerful.

BEWARE TRIPLE EARTH PENALTY

Her talk focused not just on the Paht Chee of the year, but the results of how each individual’s chart combines with the chart of the year. This year, being a double Earth year, there is real danger of being afflicted by the Triple Earth Penalty. If you are an Earth sign – of Dog, Dragon, Ox or Sheep – you are at risk of triggering this penalty. Similarly, if you have any of these Earth signs in any of your chart’s four pillars.

What you need to do to combat this clash is to turn the Triple Earth Penalty into an Earth Cross. How do you do that? You need all four of the Earth animal signs. One of these is the Dragon, and the Dragon, the epitome of all lucky symbolism, is always a safe bet to invite into your home. So get yourself a Dragon.

ACTIVATE FOR VICTORY LUCK

The year’s Paht Chee features two thirds of the Trinity of Victors – the Dog and the Tiger. But to benefit from its positive potential, you need to complete the trinity with the Horse. When you have the Dog, Tiger and Horse together, this brings you winning luck – the kind of luck that lets you beat the competition when going after a promotion, the luck that gives you the edge to come not second or third, but first. For students, it is the kind of luck that helps you come first in class, first in your exams, win scholarships and gain entrance into the top schools. And the best kind of horse to invite into your surroundings is the magical Windhorse, the faithful companion of King Gesar, the horse that symbolizes one’s lung ta or success essence.

SPECIAL STARS OF 2018

The Paht Chee chart of this year also produces some special stars, and two to take note of are the Emperor Star and the Commanding Star. In general, this indicates that people in power will stay in power, and those in positions of command will see their leadership strengthened. Whether this is good or bad will of course depend on which side of the equation you are on. To wrest yourself onto the right side of the equation, you should activate these stars with the Jade Emperor Heaven Amulet and invite in the Three Great Emperors on Horseback into your home and office.

Activating the Emperor Star is especially important for bosses, managers, business owners, leaders, politicians, but also for those of you who want to jump from being a follower to a leader in your own circles. Ride the top half of the wave this year by making sure you bring this special star to life.

Another lucky star of 2018 is the Celestial Protector Star, which indicates blessings from above. It also indicates that this is a year when it benefits to be spiritual. It is a year conducive for meditation and other such spiritual pursuits. To bring out the best this star has to offer, you should get yourself auspicious Treasure Boxes with Fu Dogs and display these in the SE of your home, office or study room.

BEWARE EXTERNAL FLOWER OF ROMANCE!

The year boasts a lot of love luck, a good indication for those looking for romance or wishing to get married. But for others, this can also mean too much love! The negative side of the love star manifests in sex scandals and affairs that can lead to the break-up of relationships and marriages. To ensure you stay safe against this, you should get yourself the Rooster with Amethyst amulet (aka known as the “Marriage Saver” pendant. “The Rooster is so fierce no girl has a chance with my husband. Poor husband,” jokes Lillian, who herself is a Rooster-born. She continues, “I have lived long enough that I have seen every scenario of love possible. And because I have seen it, my advice is, whenever you are hit by this star (i.e. infidelity, etc), don’t panic, don’t get angry. Put the cure.”

The animal sign that needs to watch out for this affliction is the Horse, who is “so loved up there is nothing the Horse wants more than to make love all year long.” Lillian is joking of course, but yes, the Horse-born is particularly susceptible to the roving eye in 2018, so all those married to a Horse may want to watch out, get the Rooster with Amethyst, and keep an eye on their partners!

NO LAP CHUN

For business, the year is not especially promising because there is no Lap Chun. This lack of springtime at the beginning of the year indicates that this is not a year conducive to the launching of new businesses or new projects. Those who want to get started on anything new should do so before the solar year officially begins on Feb 4th. Says Lillian, the coming year, when the ruling number is 9, is a year for completion, not for new beginnings. This is a year when things you started a long time ago can come to a successful conclusion, but it will be a difficult year to get new projects off the ground.

To combat the lack of a Lap Chun, it is beneficial to display the 108 Lime Tree in the home. Place in the Southeast, the sector that represents Wealth and also the sector which houses the Prosperity Star #8 in 2018. This tree represents unending wealth for the year, and will ensure your projects and businesses can succeed.

STOCK MARKET

From the charts, it looks like the markets will surge in the summer months, and peak in the Autumn. August and September are months when there is windfall luck, and sudden wealth to be gained for those who can successfully capture it. The benefits are especially great for those born in the years of the Snake and Dragon, but can be harnessed by anyone who keeps their wits about them, and who activate the Monkey and Rooster of these months. Put a Peacock Mirror on your desk and invite in the Dzambalas, the Tibetan Gods of Wealth.

STAY PROTECTED AGAINST ILL FORTUNE

The combination of the Paht Chee of the year indicates there will be unstable Earth. While it is a Double Earth Year, with two Earth pillars in the Year Pillar, the first half of the year features only Earth and Wood, a destructive combination. It is only when we get into the second half of the year that we see productive combinations in the chart. On a macro level, this indicates great danger of natural disasters related to Earth – i.e. landslides, earthquakes, etc. It is important to stay protected against becoming an unwitting victim of being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and this you can do by wearing or carrying amulets.

You can start by displaying the 8 Hums Protection Wheel Mirror in the center of your home; you should also wear the Ten Hums brooch or carry one as an amulet, or get yourself the Hum seed syllable as jewellery in the form of a pendant, money clip, brooch.

For 2017, Lillian Too’s Feng Shui Extravaganza Kuala Lumpur was held in December before Christmas, as Chinese New Year this year comes early – 28th January. Holding the Extravaganza Updates in December allows everyone plenty of time to get prepared… and being prepared for anything is the secret of success in everything you do!

The other exciting thing about Chinese New Year coming early this year is that there will be a Lap Chun, something the past couple of years have been missing. Feb 4th, the Day of Spring, falls well within the coming Fire Rooster Year, which, says Lillian, means “it is the start of something good coming!” The Lap Chun brings fresh starts and exciting new opportunities, with a big spurt of growth energy. While the past few years have featured unbalanced charts, this year’s Paht Chee whose distinct feature is the presence of all five elements, bodes very well indeed for the new year. The Victory Star in the center of 2017’s Feng Shui chart also accentuates the energy of change, because more than bringing the energy of Victory, it also marks a big change from the black year we have all just experienced. This year luck is dominated by the white star of victory #1.

The energy that made up this year’s KL event certainly reflected these optimistic feelings. The crowd was very upbeat and consisted new faces and old, some attending for the first time, while others having been ardent followers for well over 15 years. Lillian was quite overwhelmed by the support from both the people from her own hometown here in KL, as well as students and followers from all over the world, with a particularly large number this year coming from Russia and the Philippines. Lillian opened the event by explaining the real reason why she was still presenting these Feng Shui Extravaganzas, as well as writing new books every year for so many years.

“It gives me a great deal of happiness to know I make a small difference in your lives,” she told her audience. “I derive so much happiness and satisfaction. What is important is that life is meaningful.”

And there is nothing more meaningful than being able to share her knowledge on this living skill, which has personally helped her and her family, first in her career and later on in business, and most of all, in her relationships and the health and harmony of her family and loved ones.

“Feng shui is not about superstition. It is about harnessing energy correctly.”

Says Lillian, “Feng shui is not about superstition. It is about harnessing energy correctly.” And her major tip this year was the magic ingredient – be spiritual in your approach, not holier than every else but being kind and compassionate to others and to yourself. “When your motivation is correct, then incorporating spirituality in your feng shui, that is when you find your feng shui really working for you. That is when the results can be so phenomenal it is almost like performing magic.” Spiritual feng shui, she says, is what makes symbolic feng shui so effective.

When the symbolic cures and enhancers you invite into your home are of good quality, when they are well made and imbued with good energy, that is when the changes they bring to your space and into your life can be astounding indeed. But she was also quick to clarify that “There are no results without hard work.” Next year will be a very competitive year, and it will be those with the determination and the resolve to work for their success that will ultimately prevail. It is the ability to keep on putting in the work when others have quit that can capture some quite exceptional triumphs in 2017. So endurance and determination should be key traits for those wanting success.

KEEPING THE BALANCE

Lillian also shared another of her long-held beliefs. “Here’s the secret,” she said. “It is perfectly fine to want everything. The idea is to keep the balance.” While there are always choices and trade-offs to make, it is perfectly possible to want a little bit of everything. It is sorting out your priorities, then activating for exactly what you want. The best thing about Lillian’s Extravaganzas is that she is an absolute master at explaining exactly what to do. She teaches in the best possible way because she makes her audience understand what it is they are doing, rather than just giving cryptic and vague instructions. Everyone attending the Extravaganza left that day feeling confident and strong. Lillian Too’s Feng Shui Extravaganzas have become a firm date in the diary of anyone who takes feng shui at all seriously, but whether die-hard fan or once-a-year updater, this annual Sunday is most definitely a MUST-NOT-MISS event…

Singapore’s Extravaganza held at Suntec City Convention Center on Sunday Nov 20th buzzed with incredibly positive energy from the 2500-strong crowd made up of friends and followers from the world over. Friends and fans flew in from as far afield as America (North and South), Europe, Australia and New Zealand as well as from all over Asia to keep their “date” with Lillian.

Over the years, this has become not just a fantastic learning event, but increasingly also a social one where like-minded individuals mix, mingle, catch up and share notes with Lillian and her team at WOFS, as well as with each other. The Lillian Too Alumni is a tight-knit one – with classmates from Master Practitioners and Master Consultants Courses at the Lillian Too Institute of Feng Shui using this event as an excuse to renew their ties. For Lillian herself, she says “It is simply so thrilling to catch up with students who have over the years also become very good friends.”

Carola flew in from New York, and said, “Although Lillian does not know me, she has helped me in more ways than she can imagine. I have been reading her books and following her Extravaganzas and online courses since I was in College, and she has completely transformed my life.” She came with a bagful of designer scents in miniature bottles for Lillian, as she said “Lillian mentioned in one of her videos that there is no better feng shui than always being surrounded with beautiful fragrance. She said she never leaves with home without perfume, so this is just a small gift from New York as a small token of appreciation!”

Another lady from Singapore, whose sister lives in England, has been a regular Extravaganza attendee for over ten years now. She says her sister introduced her to Lillian Too’s feng shui, and before she used to attend just to pick up all the necessary feng shui cures and enhancers for her sister – but then she started to learn feng shui and applied it in her own life, and now she is even more of a “fanatic”! Also in attendance were all our friends, business partners and course graduates, who bring such wonderful energy to the event.

FIRST UP

Lillian started up the morning session familiarizing her audience with the 2017 charts – first up was her Four Pillars analysis. Says Lillian, “It is not just important to know what each element means in each new year, but more important is how to make them work for you in the coming year.” And the best thing about all of Lillian’s talks is not just how clear she makes everything – with her catchy color-coded charts and fully illustrated slides – but her incredible charisma and the spot-on way she explains how to make feng shui work for you. STAR CHANGES

Flying Star feng shui is another major segment that needs to be addressed at the start of each new Lunar year. And while last year was a doom-and-gloom “Black Year”, this year is a White One, which holds out a lot of promise. There are, as always, sectors to be careful of, those afflicted by malevolent stars, but if you install the appropriate cures, keep the right areas of the home quiet, and plan your feng shui correctly, you are bound to reap the benefits.

A particularly exciting aspect of 2017 is the number of wonderfully auspicious stars there are to tap.
