A Paht Chee reading can be used in many ways to forecast the outcome of one’s life or the outcome of the year. For the most part, we have learned how to use the Paht Chee reading for forecasting what our luck would be, and coming soon in our personalized Paht Chee readings, we will be offering the detailed forecast of your luck in the next 12 months.

As a teaser to our upgraded personalized Paht Chee readings, I have decided to give you a sneak preview on how useful Paht Chee forecasting can be. In the first image here, we have the Paht Chee chart for 2019, and this chart is generated using the solar calendar as the date and time chosen is the exact date and time of the Lap Chun for 2019.

We start by looking at the Paht Chee chart.

As you can see, this chart is complete with all 5 elements, where 3 units are Fire, 2 are Water, with 1 unit each of Earth, Metal and Wood.

Since Fire represents Wealth, this means that this would be a year filled with large potential for wealth creation, and since this is mostly from the hour pillar, it is quite clear that wealth would come largely from new innovations, new ideas, as well as new sources of business such as new crops and new services. In fact, we can see part of it appear in the form of Marijuana companies, where many countries around the world have started legalizing the medical use Marijuana, making this a new cash crop. Wealth is also more apparent during the mid-year and the year-end.

When we look at the strength of the Boar, because the heavenly stem is Yin Earth, and the intrinsic element of the Boar is Yin Water, this means that the Boar of 2019 is weak and thus needs to be strengthened. This is why we suggested that you would benefit from placing figurines of the Boar in the Northwest corner of your living room.

Next, when we look at the heavenly stems, we see Yang Fire in the Month and Hour Pillars clashing with Yang Water in the Day Pillar, indicating that although we will observe less conflict in the year, it does not mean the year will be smooth overall.

Although we have a balanced chart, it is the strength of the self-element that is important; and in this case, it is clear that the self-element of this chart is slightly weak Yang Water. Therefore, both Metal and Water elements are beneficial for the chart.

THE EARTHLY BRANCHES

In the earthly branches, we have the clashes between the Boar, Tiger and Monkey, indicating that the Tai Sui of the year is going to create plenty of problems for those who are not on his good side. Therefore, if you are born in the year of the Boar, Tiger, Snake or Monkey, it is very important that you carry the 2019 Tai Sui Amulet and also place a Pair of Pi Yao in the Northwest of your living room.

Another interesting point to take note of is that because we have the Boar, Tiger and Monkey in the chart, this means we will need the Snake to complete the 4 Element Animal Cross. The month of the Snake is then considered very beneficial, and those born in the year of the Snake have the potential to benefit greatly from this most auspicious combination. The only thing is that you would need to place the 4 Element Cross Mirror next to your bed and on your work desk if you are Snake-born.

HIDDEN ELEMENTS

The 4 hidden stars found in this chart are the Star of Prospects, the Diplomat Star, the Star of Scholastic Brilliance and the Squandering Star. Collectively, these 4 stars indicate that as long as you put in the effort, and are diplomatic in your dealings with other people, success is sure to come to you. The Scholastic Brilliance Star indicates a higher than normal potential for creative thinking, which can bring new success and new sources of income. The only negative star is the Squandering Star, which indicates that far too many people may be contented with what they currently have, and it is this complacent attitude that will create stagnation and reduce success potential.

INDIVIDUAL MONTHS OF THE YEAR

Now let us look at the individual months of the year and analyze accordingly.

Month
5 Feb – 6 Mar
Animal
Tiger
Heavenly Stem
Yang Fire ($)
Earthly Branch
Yang Wood

The first month of the year starts off with the promise of money. However, even though the Tiger is the secret friend of the Boar and brings about the luck of having secret allies, there is still the matter of the Tai Sui clash between the Tiger and the Boar. This means that wealth may come as a result of investing now, only to reap your profits much later. This is a month when clarity of thought and proper analysis is going to be very important when making decisions related to investments. It is also not a good month to register or start a new business.

Month
7 Mar – 4 Apr
Animal
Rabbit
Heavenly Stem
Yin Fire ($)
Earthly Branch
Yin Wood

The second month continues to bring hopes of money and profits, as the Rabbit is the ally of the Boar, as well as the animal that activates the Celestial Protector Star for this chart. However, because both Fire and Wood are not favourable elements, any investments you make should be long-term. Not a good month for speculative or risky investments or even changing jobs, unless you were born in the Year of the Dog. The Dog-born is especially lucky this month, and you are sure to come into some fabulous luck. This is a suitable month to start a new venture or new business.

Month
5 Apr – 4 May
Animal
Dragon
Heavenly Stem
Yang Earth
Earthly Branch
Yang Earth

The Dragon is relatively neutral, but with the Double Earth elements in the month, it is better not to make too much noise, but just stay focused on getting the work done. Earth represents recognition and as such, it is better to be known for being a person that is reliable and capable, rather than someone who tends to complain or make noise. More work may come your way as companies continue to streamline their operations. The advice is to just be part of the team and work hard so that you can reap the benefits in the coming months.

Month
5 May – 2 June
Animal
Snake
Heavenly Stem
Yin Earth
Earthly Branch
Yin Fire ($)

The Snake completes the 4 Element Cross in the fourth month, bringing superior wealth and income opportunities to those who have been working hard and staying calm. Allies that you made in the earlier part of the year will benefit you this month. This is a good time to take profit on your riskier investments and to diversify into something more long term. Steady profits are what will be needed in the coming months. Lucky stars visit every home so make sure that the feng shui of your home is properly updated so as to make the most of this month.

Month
3 June – 2 July
Animal
Horse
Heavenly Stem
Yang Metal
Earthly Branch
Yang Fire ($)

This month has the potential to be positive as Metal strengthens the weak Yang Water, providing the needed nourishment for growth. However, because the Horse forms a self-penalty with the other Horse in the chart, you can be sure that arguments and disagreements will cause stagnation. An excellent amulet to help overcome aggression and to steer clear from being cheated is to carry the 9 Tailed Red Fox Amulet.

Month
3 July – 31 July
Animal
Sheep
Heavenly Stem
Yin Metal
Earthly Branch
Yin Earth

The Sheep is the secret friend of the Horse as well as the ally of the Boar. It brings mentors and helpful people. Metal also strengthens Water, so you can be a little braver this month if you plan to expand your business. However, there is a need also to be a little careful on your expenditure. Do not go overboard with your budget and overspend.

Month
1 Aug – 29 Aug
Animal
Monkey
Heavenly Stem
Yang Water
Earthly Branch
Yang Metal

The Monkey brings its mischievous nature into play, and with a big misfortune star visiting your home, you are sure to overspend if you are not careful. The elements of this month are favourable, which means that as long as the feng shui of your home is updated, and you are carrying the required annual remedies, everything will turn out better than expected. Keep calm, and do not lose your temper to move ahead, as the Tai Sui is looking out for people to punish.

Month
30 Aug – 28 Sep
Animal
Rooster
Heavenly Stem
Yin Water
Earthly Branch
Yin Metal

Relationships that came under strain last month recover and obstacles get reduced. This is a fortunate month, especially if Water or Metal are your favourable elements. Very good month to pursue networking opportunities and to strengthen friendship bonds.

Month
29 Sep – 27 Oct
Animal
Dog ($)
Heavenly Stem
Yang Wood
Earthly Branch
Yang Earth

This is an excellent month to take profit from the share market. Do not be too greedy, as the elements of this month are not suitable or lucky for this chart. This month will make you feel more irritable, especially towards the end of the month.

Month
28 Oct – 25 Nov
Animal
Boar
Heavenly Stem
Yin Wood
Earthly Branch
Yin Water

The Boar creates the self-penalty and you can be sure to feel a reduction in your overall positive feelings being replaced with self-doubt. Stay positive and do not regret actions you have taken over the last few months. The second half of this month will bring excellent success.

Month
26 Nov – 25 Dec
Animal
Rat
Heavenly Stem
Yang Fire ($)
Earthly Branch
Yang Water

The Rat brings business luck, and those who have been careful with their feng shui are sure to receive some good news, especially if Water is your favourable element. There are profits to be made and increments to be fought for.

Month
26 Dec – 24 Jan
Animal
Ox
Heavenly Stem
Yin Fire ($)
Earthly Branch
Yin Earth

The Ox brings some delays this month. After so much hard work, it is time to relax and get some rest. Excellent month to make plans for the coming year.

World of Feng Shui HQ opened for work on the 8th Day of the Chinese New Year of the EARTH Boar with five Lau Juak Happiness Lions bringing ingots and “gold” into our head office at North Point in Mid Valley City.

For the Chinese, the first 15 days of the Lunar New Year is when all businesses and families set the tone for the coming year. It is a time when happiness and prosperity rituals create great good fortune luck for the next twelve months. And so it was that we brought in the lions, the oranges and all the good fortune rituals to attract prosperity for us, our staff and our customers.

We are heading into the Year of the Earth Boar, which is the year when we end the calendar cycle. It is a time for completion luck to be made especially good and as 2019 enjoys the auspicious #8 Prosperity Star in the middle of the Feng Shui chart, we know this will be a year when we can bring many projects to fruition and also get ready for the new calendar cycle that will be coming.

The Boar symbolises abundance and affluence, leisure and luxury, and when paired with a balanced Paht Chee chart, as is the case this year, the future looks bright and full of promise. And as always creating wealth luck is foremost on our minds!

Choy San consulting suitable dates in Lillian Too’s Feng Shui Diary

GOD OF WEALTH & HAPPINESS

Our Lion Dance featured six lions to signify good fortune from heaven and there were two important GODS – the God of Wealth (Choy San) and the God of Happiness (Hei San)!

The God of Wealth was most generous! He filled our pockets to the brim with all the symbols of wealth – coins tied with red threads, ingots of various shapes and sizes and real oranges to signify plentiful gold! This is part and parcel of the properous new year traditon. The Wealth God handed out loads of “gold and money” as he walked amongst our staff at our office, our customers at the shop and our friends at our new year celebrations at home.

We are very lucky as the Gods of Wealth and Happiness who visited our home, our business premises and our office played their roles to perfection, even as the lions danced to the beat of very loud drums and clashing cymbals – all to symbolically welcome good fortune to our friends, our customers and our family members. It was all very lau juak – Hokkien for great good fun – setting the tone for the coming twelve months!

GOOD DAYS IMPORTANT

We made sure to pick an auspicious date to start work in the new year and on that day, we made certain to have lions gracing the occasion, bringing good tidings. Lion dances MUST feature lions that are energetic; they must be full of life and manifest happiness vibrations. Hence choosing your lion dance troupe is vital to ensure they make the all the right moves to attract great good fortune. Most important is that they need to be lively to signify good healthy energy through the year.

This year we featured a little lion to signify continuity and to infuse a big dose of pure yang energy. This also ensures that the business will never lack for creativity of approach and plenty of creative new ideas.

Our lion dance at WOFS HQ was followed by an equally grand dance at our World of Feng Shui flagship store at Center Court, Mid Valley Megamall. Friends and customers turned up to share our joy and happiness and partake of the animated drumming and dancing as well as take home with them abundant “Kum” (oranges), golden ingots, coins and gold bars which were rolled into our premises. All this is part of the Chinese New Year tradition – the sharing of good fortune is a must for new prosperity luck to manifest.

It has indeed been a very hectic two weeks and we go to great lengths to observe all the traditions – to ensure that our store continues to exude good fortune vibrations so that customers feel and benefit from all the symbols of good fortune we bring their way. We never lose sight of the need for there to be good feng shui always!

QUICK REMINDERS TO MAKE 2019 AN EXCEPTIONAL YEAR:

  1. Do NOT face East and do not have your back to the West. This makes you vulnerable to the Three Killings. Very dangerous.
  2. Keep the NW quiet this year, or you risk offending the Tai Sui.
  3. Remove windchimes and bells from the South. The Quarrelsome Star #3 is here and can cause conflicts to materialise; you could also get into trouble with the authorities or get entangled in lawsuits, as windchimes will activate the #3 star.
  4. Suppress the Five Yellow in the Southwest with the Tri-coloured Five Element Pagoda. SO important to do this!
  5. Use the center area of your home and office as much as possible to breathe life into the auspicious energies of the center sector as the #8 star is here this year.
  6. Remember that this year, RED IS WEALTH. So when you feel you need a little windfall, wear red!

We wish friends and followers a wonderful Year with much success, wealth, health and happiness. We look forward to seeing you at any one of our forthcoming events!

Spiritual Feng Shui adds the Dharma dimension to practices related to living in harmony with the WINDS and WATERS of the Earth. The word Dharma means living the right path with the right purpose. In the practice of feng shui, it is viewed as having the right motivation when you make feng shui changes and enhancements to your space.

The Dharma dimension adds potency to the spirituality of both stillness and movement, which is the cosmic energy that transforms yin into yang and yang back into yin. One’s lifetime begins at birth and ends at death, and in between, one lives a life within which one experiences the joys and sufferings of samsara.

How much joy and how much suffering one encounters is determined by our KARMA, which is carried over in our mental continuum from lifetime to lifetime. The quality of one’s life is thus largely determined by the Karma we carry with us.

But here’s the thing.

KARMA CAN BE CHANGED. Karma is not static. It is dynamic and it can be changed. Buddha taught these 84,000 ways which those fortunate enough to be born as human beings can use to transform their lives, to change their karma and to improve their samsaric experience.

This is the Dharma dimension, which can also be used to enhance our practice of symbolic and spiritual feng shui. To those unfamiliar with the detailed practices of the Dharma dimension, here are THREE SECRETS you can use to enhance the impact of your Spiritual Feng Shui practice.

THE THREE SECRETS

You can successfully strengthen and empower all the CURES and ENHANCEMENTS you have put into place in the different sectors of your home by using the power of your body, speech and mind.

Using your BODY means the action of placing the symbolic cures or enhancers into place, here you are using your whole body to effect this action. The seed syllable associated with empowering the body is OM. It is a good idea then to think of this syllable Om as you put your symbolic cues into place.

Using your SPEECH means reciting a suitable mantra as you put the cure into place. Recite the mantra OM YEH DHARMA HETU PRABHAVA three times followed by whatever Deity mantra you usually recite. I always use the TARA mantra with great success, and I recite 21 times. You can finish by reciting OM AH HUM nine times and this seals in the effect of your mantras onto the cures and enhancers. The seed syllable here is AH, so think of AH as you are reciting your mantras.

Using your MIND means visualizing clearly what you want to achieve by placing the cure in place. Think what affliction you want to subdue and what kind of misfortune luck you want to dissolve. The mental picture you create in your head magnifies the power of the cure substantially. Likewise, also imagine clearly the success you wish for and the wealth you want to amass as you put your success and prosperity enhancers into place. This will increase the likelihood of abundance and success coming to you in exactly the way you wish for. The seed syllable is Hum, so think of Hum as you visualize.

EXAMPLES

  1. When you place a wealth MIRROR in a particular corner of your home, visualize the mirror reflecting great prosperity in the form of cash, asset wealth, increased sales all flowing into the home. Think strongly that the mirror is reflecting in great success and big wealth; then when you have the picture of the wealth luck clearly inside your head, recite the Dependant Arising mantra followed by the Dzambhala wealth mantras. Focus and concentrate as you do this and continue to strongly visualize the flow of wealth coming into your home. Finish with Om Ah Hum three times. After you have empowered the wealth mirror this way, you will discover that you will never look at it the same way again. Each time you see it in place, you will be reminded of wealth flowing into your home.
  2. When you display a Wu Lou in the Northeast (for 2019) of your home, think that the Wu Lou is subduing the illness star; that it is completely dissolving all the sickness energies brought by the nagas of the star #2 into the home. When you have a firm picture of the nagas strongly subdued, recite the Dependent Arising mantra followed by the Buddha of Longevity mantra Om Bhaykandze a total of 21 times. This is an incredibly powerful mantra and you can think that the blue Buddha is with you as you recite his mantra. Then you can visualize all illness energies dissolving into thin air and disappearing. The windchime has now become empowered so that illness vibrations simply cannot enter the home. Finish with Om Ah Hum three times.
  3. When you place the five element pagoda in the Southwest (for 2019) where the Five Yellow star of misfortune is located this year, think that the pagoda cure completely absorbs all the negativities, misfortune energies and illness nagas associated with the wu wang or Five Yellow affliction. Visualize the pagoda sweeping all misfortune luck away out of the home; then recite the mantra of Dependent Arising followed by the Tara mantra. I find that for me, using the Goddess Tara mantra is always so effective, so if you forget the other mantras, you can use the Tara mantra for any and all purposes. Visualize all misfortune energies leaving your home. Finish with Om Ah Hum three times.

It happens to all of us. You walk downstairs because you left your pair of reading glasses in your study. As soon as you get downstairs, you forget about your glasses and instead start to switch off lights and do whatever else catches your attention. Then when you’re back upstairs again, you realize you’ve forgotten to get the glasses!

Another scenario: you’re tidying up your study and decide to get the rubbish bin from the kid’s bedroom. You walk into the kids’ bedroom, forget the rubbish bin and start tidying the kid’s room! Then you walk back to your study, and realize you’ve forgotten about the bin!

We blame our minds for being “absent”, but scientists have now proven there is a trigger for this type of temporary amnesia. According to research scientist Gabriel Radvansky from the University of Notre Dame, walking through doorways has the effect of resetting the focus of our brains.

Derived from studying cognitive behaviour over the past 20 years, Gabriel Radvansky and his team calls this phenomenon “event boundary” – the ability for our brains to compartmentalize events and associate them with the environment or the room in which they occurred.

“By moving from one room to the next, the brain effectively creates a “mental file” containing all the information about the first room, and what you did there, and tucks it away. It then starts to focus on the second room.”

In other words, whenever you pass through a doorway, your brain “starts a new page.” It creates a new holding area to record new experiences associated with the new room. Unless you live in a completely door-less home, Radvansky’s team says there’s no medical cure for this. The only way to overcome this mental effect is to train yourself to be mindful of your purpose as you walk through doorways, and make a conscious effort to remember why you went there!

If you are in the middle of typing an email or tidying up your desk, it is best to finish your task before leaving the room, as you are sure to lose your train of thought the minute you walk through a door!

DOORWAYS AND FENG SHUI

The results of Radvansky’s research has striking parallels with what Feng Shui practitioners have intuitively known about the science of space for centuries, that doorways have a profound effect on our mind and our behaviours! Feng Shui compass methods reveal detailed insights about how energy changes its nature from room to room, and these effects are triggered as soon as we walk through doorways. This is why the practice of Feng Shui places such a lot of emphasis in the directional arrangement of doorways within a home. Getting this right is vital for channelling, shaping and creating good energy in a home!

Feng Shui practice goes deeper into the analysis of how chi moves through doorways and space. It provides us with powerful formulas and guidelines on deciding how our entrances should be built. The arrangement of doorways in relation to our sleeping and sitting positions, for example, can either bring supportive energy or create damaging vibes for us.

If you are designing your office or study, you don’t want to place your desk in a way where the doorway is behind your seat! At home, you also want to avoid having your dining table face the toilet door. In your bedroom, you should always avoid sleeping with your feet pointed at the door – Feng Shui practitioners call this the “death” position!

But the most important doorway to ensure you get right is the main entrance doorway. When you walk through your main entrance, your brain resets its focus and tunes into “family” mode. It makes a mental shift from public space to private space; hence it makes sense that auspicious main doors put you in an auspicious frame of mind, while inauspicious doorways put you in a negative frame of mind the moment you step into your home!

THE ENERGY OF DOORS IN 2019

In Feng Shui, the direction from which energy flows through your main door determines the kind of energy your house enjoys. In Feng Shui language, we call it luck, and the time dimension of Feng Shui gives us annual readings of the type of luck brought by our main entrances depending on the compass sector and direction they face. Thus it is important to check the energy of your main door each year and ensure that good energy is enhanced and negative energy is transformed.

DOOR DIRECTIONS THAT BRING GOOD ENERGY FOR THE YEAR OF 2019:

  • NORTH DOORS bring ROMANCE & SCHOLASTIC SUCCESS

Those living in houses where the entrance faces North, or is located in the North, enjoy enhanced friendships and networking luck this year. It is also possible for those who are single to find a significant other and even get married. You can enhance this luck by displaying the God of Love and Marriage in the Southwest corner of your bedroom for maximum effect. For those who are still studying, they should carry the Scholastic Success Amulet with them at all times.

  • EAST DOORS bring HEAVENLY LUCK

Houses that face East enjoy good luck from heaven. Such homes attract speculative and windfall luck and especially benefit those born in years of the Rabbit. Place the Gui Ren Windchime to attract new opportunities, helpful people and windfall luck.

  • WEST DOORS bring VICTORY & WINNING OPPORTUNITIES

Houses with main doors that face West enjoy victory luck and success this year. Those of you living in such houses will enjoy easy victory over rivals and competitors. This is especially true if you are born in the year of the Rooster. To activate this auspicious luck, display the Banner of Victory or Key of Success & Victory in this part of your home.

  • NORTHWEST DOORS enjoy the POWER OF 9

Those living in houses with the main door in the Northwest will enjoy happiness, recognition and future prosperity. Enhance with a Wealth Vessel or Dragon Treasure Trove filled with ingots and other symbols of wealth.

  • NORTHEAST DOORS bring POOR HEALTH

Houses with entrances facing Northeast get afflicted with poor health energies this year. It is especially bad for those born in Ox and Tiger years. Residents of such homes should pay careful attention to what they eat, as illnesses to the stomach is indicated. Remedy with the Healing Herbs Wu Luo or the Garuda Windchime. Pregnant and elderly people should not sleep in Northeast rooms in 2019.

  • SOUTHWEST DOORS suffer SEVERE MISFORTUNE

Houses that face Southwest are paid a visit by the misfortune star. In the SW, this star is particularly dangerous for females, especially the Matriarch and anyone born in the year of the Sheep or Monkey. Place the Tri Coloured 5 Element Pagoda here to remedy. If your bedroom is located in this corner of the home, you must not forget to also place the 5 Element Pagoda in your room as well.

  • SOUTH DOORS bring CONFLICT CHI

Houses with the main entrance facing South is visited by the quarrelsome star, which affects relationships with other people. If left unchecked, this star can bring litigation, serious quarrels and misunderstandings, and trouble with the authorities. It affects the daughters of the family as well as those born in Horse years. Place the Red Apple with Peace Symbol here to control.

  • SOUTHEAST DOORS cause VULNERABILITY TO LOSS

Southeast doors are afflicted with energies that attract robbers and cheats. It affects the eldest daughter as well as those born in the years of the Dragon and Snake. Control this star affliction with the Red Faced Kuan Kung and carry the Anti-Robbery Amulet when out and about if you live in such a house.

Nothing makes a woman more stylish than to look lucky and successful throughout the year, so start 2019 right with the twelve essential things you simply must have to bring a lucky aura to your wardrobe and an auspicious confidence to your look!

These are the key essentials of your wardrobe to make 2019 a lucky year for you! Wear or carry them to transcend the year’s afflictions and to attract good feng shui energy. Use them throughout the 15 days of Chinese New Year to “anoint” them with the New Year spirit. They are good for night or day, formal or casual, and you can depend on them to take you auspiciously through the rest of the year.

1. DIAMONDS

These precious gemstones signify the treasures of the earth. Diamonds are the ultimate symbol of affluence, and something every woman should aspire to own, as there is something quite magical about the diamond. As soon as you can afford to invest in a diamond, add one to your list of New Year staples. Mothers who can afford to do so should present each of their children with one piece of diamond jewellery, a necklace for the girls and cufflinks or a tie pin for the boys. Nothing attracts abundance better than wearing real diamonds during the fifteen days of the New Year.

The Chinese equivalent of diamonds is of course jade, because this wonderful green stone also signifies one of the treasures of the earth. But imperial jadeite jade is now very rare and very expensive. It is easier to focus on diamonds.

Magic Lo Shu Square Pendant

Diamonds are also stylishly classy. They stand for success and nothing adds an air of good feng shui better than diamonds. They can be the ultimate confidence booster. If you already own diamonds, add more to your collection and if you have not yet started amassing diamonds, the new year is always a great start. You do not need to get a solitaire – in fact it is better to get jewellery that is auspicious such as the Magic Lo Shu Square or the mystical knot or anything else that catches your fancy. You also do not need Chinese words. Auspicious words studded in diamonds in any language work just as well. If you cannot afford naturally occurring diamonds, manmade diamonds and high quality cubic zirconia work just as well.

2. RED HIGH HEELED SHOES

Everyone benefits from owning a pair of bright red shoes – the patent leather type is even better because they have that shiny red look! The red shoe (no need to be excessively high, but must have heels) will be very effective for stamping out all the aggravations of the year.

3. GOLD JEWELLERY

One of the secrets known to ancient mystics is the huge importance of adding to the family wealth each year by bringing new gold into the home. This is why Royal Houses of many cultures always commission new gold jewellery or a gold ornament for the home during the start of each new year. Chinese matriarchs who are in the know are most mindful of this as they understand the big significance of “adding to the wealth of the family”. Nothing signifies wealth better than real gold. So each New Year, mothers always buy at least one piece of gold jewellery for their daughters. This is a very auspicious thing to do and the gold should ideally be worn all through the fifteen days of the New Year. It can be white gold or yellow gold although old fashioned Matriarchs always prefer yellow gold as “wong kum” sounds more auspicious.

It is also important that the gold is fashioned into something auspicious such as a dragon or any of the symbols of good fortune like the double happiness word, the fook word or the sau word – each of which carries special lucky connotations. It is considered equally auspicious if the gold is fashioned into a holy object, and that is why gold Kuan Yin or Buddha images are so popular. Mantra rings or pendants with the eight auspicious signs are also considered very lucky as these attract blessings and can double up as protective amulets.

The best time to get these is in time for the New Year and then they should be worn during the first fifteen days. This imbues the gold jewellery with very special energy. For those looking to find a suitable marriage partner, they should wear their peach blossom animal. Find out if your peach blossom animal is the Rabbit, Rooster, Rat or Horse and then get one of these animals in gold (preferably in solid gold) and wear it round your neck. You do not need them big, but you do need them in full gold! This will make sure that you land a really good catch – someone as good as gold!

4. BRAND NEW WATCH

The wristwatch used to be something we all wore to tell the time. These days it stands for a whole lot more! There are so many different kinds of watches now and the designer houses of Europe have transformed the watch into such a powerful symbol of status and success that these days, everyone owns more than one watch.

Double Dorje Watch

From a feng shui perspective, however, the watch also has great significance as it is a powerful symbol of yang energy – time relentlessly moving on, never standing still. It is always a good idea to buy a new watch for each new year because it introduces fresh new chi when you wear a new watch. Those whose luck has not been so good recently can use a new watch to transform their luck. It is preferable to get a watch with a round face, as the round shape signifies the metal element as well as heaven energy, which complements the heavenly stem element of Earth of this year very well. Wear your new watch on the first day of the Lunar New Year.

5. BIG TOTE BAG

To enjoy good feng shui, have one big bag in readiness, like the big bag carried by the fat Laughing Buddha. This is something you can use to carry all your shopping and to signify your readiness to receive all the goodies coming into your life.

If you examine all the most successful designer labels selling bags, you will find that the most popular brands are those with really nice totes to choose from. Invest in a tote that can take you anywhere – to the beach, shopping, traveling, or for work. Getting such a bag during the New Year is meaningful as it signifies an expectation that the year will bring so many good things you need a huge bag to carry them all!

6. CRIMSON WALLET

Few things are as auspicious as the crimson wallet! Such a wallet attracts money luck, making sure you are never short of cash. The red wallet is also the best way of ensuring that whatever wealth luck you already have will not be easily reduced or taken away from you. Even if you already own a red wallet, you can always do with an extra one. These days all the designer houses are offering delectable wallets in the brightest of reds. And in 2019, the Wealth Element of the year happens to be Fire, making the red wealth wallet doubly effective as wealth enhancers.

When you give red packets to your children, ensure they enjoy good fortune for the whole year by giving them their red packets inside a wealth wallet. Do this if your children have started working or are in business, as this kind of luck – to have their parents give them money inside a red wealth wallet during the new year – is very auspicious. Those who wish can also buy themselves a red wallet with wishfulfilling mantra wallet and start using it on the first day of the New Year. If for some reason you did not get yourself one in time, another good day to start using a new red wallet is on the 8th day of Chinese New Year.

7. DENIM PANTS

These add an air of instant chic. To become lucky one must learn to relax and have the ability to slip into something casual and still feel and appear stylo milo. So you’ll need a really good pair of denim jeans that can take you easily through the year. Let your new jeans get officially “blessed” by the auspicious energy of the New Year by wearing them in then.

If you want the rest of the year to be easy with an air of relaxed living, then make certain there are days during the new year when you wear a comfortable pair of denim pants. Why denim? Because this more than anything signifies the energy of our modern age. Blue jeans are pretty much the accepted mode of casual chic, so go with the flow. Get yourself at least one pair. Get more if you wish, but make sure you wear in at least one pair during the New Year.

8. MANTRA JEWELLERY

Another great idea is to get yourself some mantra jewellery. Get an auspicious seed syllable in gold. You can pick your syllable based on what aspiration that is most important to you.

9. CLASSIC WHITE SHIRT

Nothing works like the classic white shirt for emphasizing the power of yang. In yin and yang cosmology, while the essence of both are required to attract good balance and harmony, we also need more yang than yin. The white shirt is stylish for any kind of occasion and you can wear it with jeans for a casual look, or with a satin or velvet skirt for a more serious look. It can be dressed up with diamonds or dressed down with chunky accessories. So it is truly a staple which everyone should own.

Make sure you invest in a nice crispy white shirt for the New Year. Get one in silk or in very good cotton, but make sure it is basic and not too busy. Something pure white is better than cream or grey. A pure white shirt is excellent feng shui as it stands for the finest unblemished purity and also signifies the all-important Metal element which in 2019 symbolises resource luck. The white shirt will help remove obstacles that come your way. This coming New Year, wear your white shirt for the first time on the 10th day, which falls on Feb 14th 2019.

10. BRIGHT RED OUTFIT (to suppress hostile vibes)

Everyone should make at least one bright red outfit each New Year. Nothing does it better than red when it comes to starting the year right and making sure this ultimate of yang essence is carried right through the 12 months of the year. Red signifies the Fire element and is wonderful for suppressing negative vibes. It creates an aura of positive energy that exhausts anyone who tries to aggravate you.

Vermillion red has the power to attract maximum good fortune. The most beneficial time to wear something red – a dress, cheongsam, shirt or even a whole suit! – is on the first and fifteenth day of Chinese New Year. On the first day RED signifies a fabulous start to the year, while on the fifteenth day RED celebrates the night of the first full moon. This is especially lucky for young unmarried ladies as wearing red attracts excellent marriage luck. For good measure, also make sure your cheeks are well rouged, your fingers well manicured and your lips suitably glossed.

11. ZODIAC FRIENDS

Everyone should invite home their zodiac allies and secret friend. Get these as soft toys, figurines, decorative ornaments, keychains or lucky handbag charms. These will bring you supportive vibes that help you enjoy a brilliant year. In feng shui astrology, the presence of your zodiac allies and secret friend is the key to getting through the year with no mishaps and great support luck from your friends.

Your allies and friend is based on your animal sign. This determines which of the other zodiac animals are good for you and which are hostile to you. Thus if you are a Dog, invite the Rabbit into your life. This is because the Rabbit is the best friend of the Dog. If you are a Rat, get an Ox. If you’re a Snake, get yourself a Monkey charm. And so on.

12. GOLD EVENING PURSE

For glamourous outings, nothing works as well as a gold evening bag. This is a stylish and auspicious “must have” for any feng shui conscious lady. Invest in a gold evening bag at the start of the year so you can use it for the first time during any of the 15 days. Carry this gold evening bag on the night of the full moon so that when you use it through the year, it has already captured the chi energy of the first full moon’s rays.

  • Everyone should be in a festival and joyous mood, creating a joyful and hilarious atmosphere. People should refrain from arguments. Parents should not scold or punish children, and everyone should adopt a conciliatory attitude towards everyone else.
  • Women should refrain from using knives or scissors, as these are implements associated with anger, danger and the cutting off of good luck.
  • Do not sweep the floor or dump the trash on the first day of New Year, as this will take away wealth luck from the house.
  • Do not have a lunch nap at noon; otherwise people will be lazy all year long.
  • Do not wear black or white to visit friends, as this brings bad luck.
  • Do not visit friend’s house if a family member has just passed away.
  • Do not eat rice porridge in the morning at breakfast, otherwise you cannot add to your wealth luck in that year. Only poor people eat rice porridge, and at Chinese New Year they have no choice.
  • Better not to eat meat on the morning of Chinese New Year, because many Gods who are vegetarians arrive for New Year’s Day in the morning.
  • Don’t wake people up by calling their names; otherwise the sleeping person will be lethargic through the year.
  • Don’t take unnecessary medicine; or you will lose your good health during the year.
  • Don’t wash clothes, because New Year’s Day is the birthday of the God of Water.
  • Do try to avoid breaking any dish, plate, bowl or cup, as this usually means bad money luck coming. In case it happens, put the broken pieces in a round container until after the New Year is over before disposing of the pieces.
  • If someone owes you money, do not ask for the money back on this day. Otherwise people will owe you money through the year.
  • Don’t let people take anything away from your pocket or purse, because that creates the cause for you to lose money during the year.
  • If you cry on New Year’s Day, you will cry all through the year. Therefore children are tolerated and are not spanked, even if they happen to be mischievous during this day.
  • On New Year’s Day, we are not supposed to wash our hair, because it would mean washing away good luck for the New Year.
  • It is considered unlucky to greet anyone in his or her bedroom, so that is why everyone – even the sick – should get dressed and sit in the living room.
  • Don’t use foul language or unlucky words. Negative terms and the word “four” (Sae), which phonetically sound like death, must not be uttered. Telling ghost stories or stories about death and dying are totally taboo. Instead talk about your future plans and dreams for the coming year ahead.
  • It is considered unfavorable to pack / doggy bag leftovers while eating out during Chinese New Year

Will the Year of the Boar bring good fortune?

Lillian says YES! With the ever-present threat of a full blown trade war between China and America, the ongoing onslaught of natural disaster after disaster, an ailing world economy and sliding stock markets, surely we are headed for better times?! Happily, Lillian predicts 2019 will see definite improvements. The coming year is characterized by the Boar, a much friendlier, more laid-back creature than the Dog.

This Dog Year 2018 has been particularly ferocious being an Earth Dog year – the Double Earth brings far too much malignant Earth energy, so the Dog has more Dobermann than Dachshund, with fierce bite as well as loud bark.

    2019 will be better.

Says Lillian, the Paht Chee of 2019 looks much more balanced. It also contains some very promising hidden good fortune stars. There are indications that big breaks are around the corner for everyone. If you can spot opportunities, then seize them with enthusiasm! Half of the 12 Animal Signs enjoy Big Auspicious stars from the winds of the 24 Mountains, and Lillian explains how to make best use of these most auspicious of winds.

In terms of wealth luck, the 2019 chart is dominated by the number 8. This is the Star of Prosperity, and it being in the center is very lucky indication indeed.
